  1. I wish I didn't have to spend so much time waiting for references, viewports and worksheets to update and recalculate.
  2. Has there been a fix for this yet?!?! This tool is maddening! What is supposed to make life easier turns a 5 minute task of adding notes into 15 minutes of fixing a broken tool.
  3. Is there some magic that I am missing as to why I can't move a DLVP to a sheet and a SLVP to a design layer?
  4. Is there a way to find/replace a symbol within a vectorworks document? We have a standard titleblock that we use for "not for construction" issues and we now want to switch to our "for construction" titleblock.
  5. I believe unless you are using section viewports and/or detail viewports you can't link the reference markers to a specific viewport. I would love to be corrected if I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure this has been put on the wish list, maybe Jim could confirm?
  6. Manufacturers most likely wouldn't need to deal with 100-300. That would be something that the BIM Platform should take care of. Manufacturers would get involved from 350 to 400, where specific data is required.
  7. I view IFC content the same way I do 3d dwg/dxf components from manufacturers, and that is as a far worse off second option to native-ly created created content on whichever CAD/BIM platform I happen to be using. The concept behind IFC is great, however, none of these platforms handles the information nearly as close as native components. There is always some glitch or clean up that needs to be done prior to use by my standards. I believe that the manufacturers understand this and thus create their content in the format that has the greatest single user base.
  8. It would be nice to be able to create some sort of offset or leader for elevation markers. Sometimes at smaller scales you have multiple elevation markers within a small distance. Currently the only way to keep them as "smart" objects and legible is to offset them horizontally. It would be great to improve on this function by allowing to offset the text kind of like a dimension.

    3D Fonts

wish we just had 3d letters...
  10. Better Work flow = select wall > hit shortcut key > continue drafting (with the ability to press the shortcut key while drafting to reverse wall sides)
  11. One thing that I've found that helps is setting the Autosave to confirm before save. I noticed a pattern of if I try to do something like move an object at the exact time it tries to save it crashes.
  12. Still running into this issue. Sent a note off to tech support last night, waiting to hear back. It's making the program unusable for projects of this scale. If there is no fix for this, we will need to realign about 60 wall section viewports with their detail annotations.
  13. We've been experiencing this as well.
  14. Wes, maybe something in the dialogue settings similar to the splay options? Where you could set how far back the door would cut back each layer of the wall. It would also be nice to be able to set a custom profile for the door trim options.
  15. This could be very valuable for key plans on large projects. Right now we just use standard viewports with certain class settings. If we create new information on the plan, we have to make sure that we transfer the right visibilities/overrides onto the key plan viewports. Plus it adds another name to the list of viewport naming. Some symbol-like feature of viewports could really benefit our ability to streamline graphic coordination.
  16. Think of the time this would save in your workflow if you have a 5 story building with walls that carry up vertically throughout the entire facade... You could draw 4 walls instead of 20. Maybe I can write a script...
  17. The Alt key in the move by points tool allows you to select a different object and then snap back to move by points. It's one of those quirky Vectorworks things. I'm not sure if it is an actual bug or what (Maybe JimW can shed some light on that area). One way to solve this would be to change the short cut for the rotate command to something that doesn't involve the alt key.
  18. Are you going to be posting the Detail Production Addendum as well or is it available in another location?
  19. I should still be able to just create the slab style I want from step one though.
  20. This one has been bugging me for a very long time and with the new developments in stories and layer relationships, I'm not sure why it hasn't been incorporated. We should be able to see objects that need to project vertically from one layer up through other layers. For instance, if I have exterior walls that should be continuous from the ground floor to the third floor, I shouldn't have to draw these 3 times. Currently, I need to draw them 3 times or I need to draw it once and then use various classing work arounds to add the appropriate windows and doors and have my 2d working drawings display correctly.
  21. I have some custom slabs styles that I have created in my file. So it seems as though it is just pulling the first one from the list.
  22. Is it possible to set the default slab style for create objects from shapes or does vectorworks just pull the first one in the resource browser? Should this be a wish list item?
  23. I would put the ability for hatches to show up on elevations as fixing an existing feature that doesn't work properly. The inability for 3d elevations to show 2d hatching as part of an applied class setting/override or texture is just an epic fail IMHO.
  24. My 2 cents on this is that they need to focus on fixing the tools they have provided, not on releasing new tools that also don't work. I don't want to have to figure out how to write code so that I can use a program built by people who know how to write code.
