  1. Awesome. Thanks so much Kevin. Happen to know the code to turn on unified view (if it's off), and toggle on openGL linework? I see the syntax here for running menu commands, but I'm wondering if there is syntax for changing settings in dialogues.
  2. Not being experienced in Vectorscript, Python, OS X Automator, etc, I'm wondering which is the best way to create a simple macro that executes several menu commands at once. The first thing I'm looking to do is set up a command that sets several view / rendering parameters at once. I find I really prefer to model with perspective on, OpenGL with lines, medium distance, etc etc, and whenever I open someone else's file it takes me five commands to get back to this preset. Drives me crazy. Any thoughts? Much appreciated. -O
  3. I imagine the user base of Vectorworks would prefer to have their tool pallets remain customizable, but there's nothing to say that the software shouldn't include more creative preset workspaces to choose from (perhaps one would be organized the in the MODO way described above). Either way they would benefit from behaviors that make them easier to look at, lock down and manage. Again, I feel like a full-screen, pro-software style option that integrates the workspace and dockable tool pallet areas, instead of these sloppy floating windows, would be an obvious first step (and not terribly controversial).
  4. Thanks. I see that it's mappable under the keys section of the Workspace Editor, but didn't have a key under the workspace I imported. And yes I see there is a manual. My mistake. It might be helpful to include a link to that in the support section of your site as well.
  5. Great thoughts all. It's true there are a lot of good examples out there. I hope we can get someone's ear on this, even if just for basic enhancements. The interface doesn't appear to have been touched since I first used VW in 2003. Modest improvements would really help users get the most out of what's 'under the hood' in VW.
  6. Maybe I'm missing something, but I've just upgraded to 2014 and would love to use the X-ray select feature, but I don't see any documentation on how to invoke it. The feature video doesn't mention a keystroke, tool or menu command that could be added to a workspace. I've searched the menu commands in the workspace editor and didn't see it. Little help here? In general I'm mildly dismayed by the lack of documentation on VW. Forums are great but I don't think they're really a substitute for a straight-up curated manual. Thanks, O
  7. I know this may have been mentioned before, but I'm not seeing anything recently. I feel like a full screen UI similar to Adobe Creative Suite software, with dockable palette areas, palette toggling, full screen modes, etc, would really improve the usability of VW. This approach has already been adopted by most pro design software, be it video editing, graphics or modeling. VW is looking really dated and cluttered by comparison, particularly on the Mac. Awkward floating palettes are constantly blocking other interface elements and require constant fussing and adjustment. Please make this a priority. It would really compliment the nice new modeling visuals added in 2014, and make for a much clearer interface.
