  1. Hi Forum, greetings. With some worksheet formulas, it isn't really clear to me, what to get and how to act with the result. Sometimes you have to use =value to convert a string to a number, sometimes this isn't necessary. I want to check what kind of data (string, number, …) I get, with a worksheet formula Does anybody know a special way to solve this. something like: =datacontent() Thanks in advance and have a nice day Greetings from Germany Tobi
  2. Hi, i often draw 3D and make a symbol of my drawing. In the 3D editing part of the symbol i convert to an autohybrid and get a hydrid symbol with 2D + 3D. You can switch the hybrid symbol to 2D only, if you want. Greetings from Germany Tobi
  3. Hi, THX line-weight for this great work. For Dimensions, I wish for a really, really long time to save my desired class inside the Dimension Standard. Often I need more Dimension Standards, separated to different classes. If we can save the class inside the Standard, this would be an easy job. Greetings Tobi
  4. Hi, the way Sketchup handle lockings, is for me personally the best way that I have tried until today. The 3D-Dragger is also a good choice, with more potential (e.g. scaling, …) I would love to see both solutions in VW. Greetings Tobi
  5. Hi Tom, yes you are, right scaling works only for 2D-symbols. I would love to see interactive scaling for 3D / hybrid-symbols. If you build your 3D-symbols the right way (not every geometry works), you can get relative good result, if you scale it. For this kind of symbols, workflow would be much faster, if you could scale interactive.
  6. Hey, I also use scaled symbols very often because you can get a good quantity takeoff with them. Unfortunately, the input for the scaling can only be done via the information palette. I would find it extremely useful if you could also scale the symbols graphically in perspective-view. Scaling of symbols works in 2D-view, but not in 3D. In principle, I mostly scaled relatively simple geometry, so scaling the Boundig Box is "enough" for me. Greetings from Germany Tobi
  7. Hi, does anyone know which version of OpenSubDiv is implemented in VW? https://graphics.pixar.com/opensubdiv/docs/release_notes.html Greetings Tobi
  8. Hi, I have a question about combining subdivisions. In the video attached, you see I draw 3 individual subdivision surfaces and combine all to one surface. Some outer edges of the individual surfaces are no more outer edges in the combination, they are "inner edges" and they exist twice (also the endpoints). This means the calculation-process of combining subdivisions do not delete (unwanted) doubles. I can't delete these doubled "inner edges" / endpoints in my combination. But maybe someone knows a trick? If not possible, I think we need a feature in the combining process to merge edges and points. + a check-feature to find + delete doubles in existing subdivisions. Greetings from Germany and thx in advance for your help Tobi 1904968240_Bildschirmaufnahme2023-03-08um20_01_12.mov 23-03-08 Question Subdivisions.vwx
  9. Hi for me grabbing feels also worse compared with older versions. I think also auto-pane is affected. Hope we see improvements in this behavior! I also would like to see improvements in Push/Pull-surface-selecting. I wrote a wish, that the current active object, will be more in focus for Push/Pull than the non-active objects. I always group my object + do my push/pulls inside the group and ungroup it afterwards. If you want to vote/support/push my ticket, it is VE-104051. Greetings and have a nice weekend. Tobi
  10. Hi Jeff, greetings and many thnx! Big thumbs up! Tobi
  11. Hi, in the Marionette library must be one from Dominique Corpartaux for such kind of stairs. Greetings Tobi
  12. Hi Jeff, greetings and thnx for your idea. Can we please have your demo-file? I want to checkout, how you solved it. Greetings and thnx. Hace a great week. Tobi
  13. Hi, using a Hardscape should also do the job, or a Subdivision. Greetings from Germany Tobi
  14. Yes. … I tried all what's in my might to fix it! … no luck, no success. Greetings from Germany Tobi
  15. Hi, I have also Problems with Windoor under SP3 (German Version) I can't edit Windoor-objects created before SP3 + I can't create new Windoor-objects. If I want to show the Windoor-palette, VW crahes instantly! I de- and reinstalled Windoor I repaired VW with the Updater Greetings from Germany Tobi
  16. Hi, you can start with Solids (no curves) and convert it later to Subdivision for smoothing. Or start with Site-model or Hardscapes, convert it to Solid + Subdivision (maybe Site-Model to Subdivision would work without the need of conversion to Solid inbetween). Greetings from Germany Tobi
  17. Hi Pat, greetings and thnx for your help and reporting VB-191196. Hope we get a fix soon! Please support my wish: VE-103900 Greetings from Germany and have a good start in the week. Tobi
  18. Hi and greetings. At the moment, I try to find a more easy way to calculate a relative percentage in a Worksheet without of using criteria in a cell. Attached is a small file with a use case. B3 list the area of the listed rectangles. B4 = formula with criteria In C3 I want to have the percentage of the area of one rectangle, relative to the summarized area of all rectangles. I only got my percentage, if I set criteria in B4 and calculate with it. Otherwise, it won't work. For this relative easy calculation, this solution works "okay". For more complex calculations (complex if-formulas), this could be a tricky one. Another solution would be to use two worksheets and reference some cells with each other. I want to know if there is more easy way without, of a use of criteria or a use of two worksheets? like: C3 = B3 / B4 B4 should list the summarized area in a way, that it is possible to calculate with it in C3 without a criteria. If not possible, I will write a Wish in Jira. Greetings, and thanks for your help Tobi 23-01-14 Percentage.vwx
  19. Hi, great Nurbs-Loft, like that solution. Yesterday I also play around with a Möbius Nurbs Loft and came close to Bensons solution. A combination of two lofts is needed to fulfill the challenge. A full 360 is not possible with any solution, I guess. In November, I bought a Rhino license to learn it a bit and to do some Nurbs things, which are not possible in VW. I will write a wish for a better Loft-Tool in the following days. Happy New Year! Tobi
  20. Hi Peter, as Apple-User, I would recommend no Apple Mice, if you want to work in CAD. I use a wireless Gaming-Mouse from Logitech with 5 buttons and scroll-wheel. … and yes Middle-Mouse + Control to turn on temporary 3D-navigation. Greetings Tobi
  21. This method would also work (with more twists). But I think the method above, makes cleaner geometry. Greetings Tobi Bildschirmaufnahme 2022-12-30 um 13.50.59.mov
  22. Hi Peter, yes your right. Two bends with 180°, because a 360 would fail. After the bend, I done a Solid Addition. I use the German Version, we have another menu arrangement, but most commands are the same. I‘m interested what solutions other present. Greetings and have a good start in 2023 Tobi
  23. Hi Peter, greetings. … good idea! My quick-and-dirty solution. Happy holidays. Tobi Bildschirmaufnahme 2022-12-29 um 18.53.42.mov
  24. Hi, if you use the scaling factors for quantity takeoffs, it doesn't matter, how the symbols are placed in 3D, because, the axis of the symbols comes into count and not the actual axis of VW. … also interesting for QT: For a faster workflow, we need a graphically based scaling (click-and-drag) of the symbols, At the moment, we only can scale with input values. Greetings from Germany Tobi
  25. Hi Tom, I also use scaled symbols like you, but I draw them: 1 x 1 x 1 cm. (simple geometry), or 1 cm in length. You can get the scaling factors into worksheets with: =OBJEKTDATA(‘Objektvariable’; 102) scaling factor X =OBJEKTDATA(‘Objektvariable’; 103) scaling factor Y =OBJEKTDATA(‘Objektvariable’; 104) scaling factor Z … perfect for quantity takeoffs. Greetings Tobi
