I was told a couple years ago that there isn't a way to turn them off, as it is part of the Braceworks module. I think that it is still true, but I haven't dug into it for a while. My solution is to create a class that is always hidden and every so often run my script to select them and then re-class them. The name of my hidden class is "Truss Cross Turds".

I had forgotten about this thread but was reminded again when the stupid truss cross objects started harassing me again. I like the sound of your script idea - but have no experience with them. Can you shed any light on how to do this?

  2. Im finding myself constantly at odds with the Truss Cross objects & constantly deleting them - sometimes layers of them after a single action (adding or deleting truss, lights, etc). Theres absolutely no use for them in my current workflow. Can these be disabled?

  3. Why on earth does the dispersion hatch now look like this?

    Untitled5.pdf

I know how to replace the default hatches with the horrible new hatch, I just take the old hatches and replace the new ones, keeping the hatch names intact. Can you force VW to default to specific hatches for audio dispersion? Would be tedious to have to do this every time.

  4. Hi All

When I select Spotlight>Hoists, i get a msg that says "SelectHoistsVW not in plug-ins folder". Ive tried to uninstall/install VW and the problem persists.

How can I get my hoists menu back?

    Cheers

  5. Hi there

Im having an issue trying to get VW to show barndoors in my schematic views in VW2021 SP2. I can insert barn doors to the fresnel symbol as an accessory - this shows correctly in 2D and 3D views. But I when I update the schematic view it doesnt show. Ive also tried generating a new schematic view for the fresnel w/ barndoors  - but to no avail. Is there a secret to this?

    Cheers

  6. Cheers Pat - but I couldnt make this work-around work in this case. The only attribute that would copy is the colour. So I would still need to individually set each with pan. tilt and   kind (spot, point, etc). When dealing with several light objects, I need to be able to edit parameters of several objects together. I cant edit multiple light objects in either OIP or visualisation palette in the design Layer.

  7. I like to use multiple light objects for renders, rather than use just spotlight symbols - as I dont need to create focus points (which can get very tedious). For some reason, VW doesnt like me duplicating a light object after I set this with all the required attributes (colour, type, beam angle , etc) - then editing all light objects together in the Visualise palette.

I can successfully duplicate the light object in the design layer:

but when I try to select multiple light objects in the Visualiser palette and edit an attribute for all - the names of all duplicated light objects disappear and the objects can no longer be edited.

Even better, when a viewport is created from the design layer, most of the duplicated light objects inherit some very odd names:

After this happens, I can still only edit the original light object - "Light 1" in this case.

It seems to me that this workflow is perfectly logical - would love to know if Im doing something wrong.

    Heres the VW file.

  8. Ive posted this in the Rendering forum also.

Ive started seeing a strange issue whereby I create viewports on sheet layers, override the light objects (both from Spotlight & RW lights) until it looks right, render, close the file, re-open, re-render - then all of my Spotlight light objects turn-off for no apparent reason. The VW light object dont do this. I then need to go back to the design layer and re-create the viewport to get it to render properly.

Ive attached a sample file with most of the geometry ripped-out (for IP reasons).

    Render test.vwx

Another problem that I regularly run into are VW light objects blanking-out their names when I try to edit them in the Visualisation/Lights palette - normally when I select multiple lights and edit several at once. When this happens, I cant edit them in the sheet layer.

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Cheers for that.

Ive come up with workflow that doesn't add too much complexity. I create a layer called LX Vertical and put all my upright lighting and positions on this. For the sheet layer LX Plot, I just overlay a view port with uprights only - will all labels set to invisible.

Life is pretty good in NZ thanks - all things considered!

  11. Hi @markdd

I tried to create a DLVP of just the Schematic View object - but VW would default to creating a DLVP of the vertical truss instead. But no stress - I created the DLVP of the vertical truss and made all the label classes invisible for this from within the VP - and got this which actually works better - gives a proper top view of the truss on a sheet layer.

Just need to structure my layers to adapt.

    Something like:

    1. LX Gen - for most fixtures but not vertical positions
    2. LX Verts - for 3D views of vertical LX postions (renders and Vision)
    3. LX DLVP - for showing vert positions on LX Plots, allows me to set labels to invisible for these only
    4. LX Schematics - for showing vert position detail on LX Plots

Feels like a hybrid Plot & Model/Schematic View work flow - but seems to work.

    Many thanks for the inspiration!

  12. Almost moved to a new Schematics Views workflow from a Plot & Model View (RIP) workflow - but one issue remains.

When showing 2D labels in Plan View which both schematic view object & linked vertical truss lighting position - I get a bunch of overlaid 2D labels next to the vertical truss as shown:

    SchematicViewsIssue.thumb.png.a7340913ed1b446899a4df7d5c652c85.png

Is there a way not to show the 2D labels for the vertical truss and only the schematic view? With the schematic view object showing the detail - the vertical truss would only be useful in showing the position of the truss. Of course, I need this to be in the correct position for renders and Vision also.

    Cheers in advance.

  13. I have a dual-monitor setup for my Win PC. For some reason, VW has decided to open all windows on my right monitor, despite moving the main window to my left monitor for all my work. Ive tried saving the palette positions.

How can I tell VW to open with the same arrangement every time? Could this be a corrupt preferences file?

    Cheers

My concern is your forum signature 😧 Looks like you have an nvidia card which is not compatible with the Mac Operating System on Vision 2019+. The hardware is okay; if you have bootcamp installed and boot windows on the same machine the nvidia card will work fine. See the tech bulletin below:

Many thanks @bbudzon & @BrandonSPP for coming back to me.

Yes - I actually found that nvidia post and concluded that this was the reason my MBP wasnt allowing Vision to work. In the end - I installed Vision on an Asus laptop and it worked fine.

So its looking like a VW2020 and Vision 2020 workflow for me. The only remaining issue for me is not being able to display vertical LX positions in a 2D layout - like I normally would - with the usual 2D labels. Once I find a solution for this (rather than having to show my verts in 3D with 3D labels) - I will be sorted!
