After updating my video driver at beginning of this week, like I'm told to do,I've had two blue screen crashes. I've been in contact with my computer doctor & they suggest going back to the older version of the video card driver. I have only VectorWorks & sketchup open when the crash happen. The latest crash happen when I was creating a view port from a design layer to a sheet layer. See attached for a phone pic of the blue screen & the error message after shutting down & restarting. Any suggestion ?

Jim, attached are phone pictures of the cursor in 2015 & 2016 to see the difference which they are. It is hard to see this in these photos though. Also when I move the cursor over the menus or tool boxes it becomes a crisp outline in 2016, but not when over the drawing. I know this is a pet peeve, but is very annoying. Also, the align object dialog box got much bigger in 2016 with not a lot of space being used, not sure why. I have my computer mouse settings for no shadows at home & at office. I still have 2015 on my home office computer along with 2016 so I was able to compare both on same monitor Thanks for any info on this

Is it me or has VW always made your cursed fuzzy and with a shadow? I do not remember this in 2015. When I move the curser over the tool menus or the off the drawing window it goes back to a line edge with no shadow. I hate the shadow look, that is the first change I make to every pc computer is to turn the shadow off, which I have selected for the computer, but now VW is adding it back only when you over the drawing area ? Why ?

Now I wish I never un-installed VW 2015. I lost many good Resource Libraries of items I used a lot. Thankfully I have computer for my home office I still have 2015 on it so hopefully I can bring those libraries to my office computer. How come 2015 does not come with the same libraries ?

I have followed the instruction in the knowledgebase, but when it tells me to go into the Regedit and delete the Nemetscheck folder, I'm not sure which version I am deleting. I guess I should have deleted the 2015 before installing the 2016, is this true ? Is there a way to uninstall 2015 with out loosing 2016 files or should I just do a complete uninstall of all & then reinstall the 2016. Thanks!

Way cool that I found this post, I've have complained how the jamb options for the door & windows did not allow this adjustment, like for a typical brick mold on a wood framed wall with brick veneer. I would love to know how many designers use the splay exterior or interior wall detail. But it does not allow the same adjustment to the window head. Dag, I thought the finally had it! I would also like to be able to change the trim out to a polygon provide of your choosing.

No it did not appear in a blank doc so/and I changed the Renderworks Background, now it is correct. I've been playing with RenderWorks tutorials and must of changed it & forgot to reset it back. Thanks!

Sorry I forgot to attached the screen images. Yes I had the black background UN-selected. See attached, from what I can see I have everything set correctly, even the colors in the appearance settings, but it is not changing the screen background when in a openGL perspective view

Jim, I'm trying to set my office computer to the same settings as my home computer that you helped me with on the horizon with the blue sky & green ground, but I keep changing the interactive settings for the perspective views. Somehow I have changed them to other colors and can not change them back. I have even tried the reset button. See attached for a screen capture image of my VW screen showing I am in perspective view mode and that I changed the General background perspective horizontal ground color, then after pressing the OK button, nothing happens. Any suggestions ? Thanks Jerry

I watched a video of the 3d drapery tool that I guess only comes with the spotlight version. I do set design for TV & film that requires me to drawl curtains in plan & elevations, and sometimes in 3D. It strange in the architect version I can use the speed rails, lights, electrical equipment, and other stage items, but no curtains. Or am I not seeing it to import into my architect version! Thanks

Thanks Jim, it took me a moment to figure out why it was not working like the tutorial, but finally figured out I had the cropped perspective checked, once unchecked it works correctly.

Am I suppose to see a horizon line with green below & blue above like the 2016 Basics VW online tutorial ? Mine is not, not sure if its a setting that was brought from my 2015 version. I can not find any setting for this. Thanks

thanks for the info, I have done a thorough cleaning bore noticing this. I also have mine set up for Fahrenheit. So I will recheck these temps & compare to yours. I really appreciate your advice over the past years!

Now that I have a fat graphics card. larger power supply, solid state drives, and a extra case fan, I'm noticing my CPU temperature rising when rendering, but not my graphics card. I have don the skate park tutorial and when rendering realistically for a night scene sowing the lights its sending the CPU temperature very high, where as the graphics card stays the same. I have a very fast CPU, but it seems it is being worked very hard.IS this the way VW ARCH & RenderWorks operates or is this a sign my CPU is going bad. Thanks for any advice !

Thanks Jim, yes the batch file conversion worked. It even changed my tool pallets to solid white & at the top of the window it says VW not responding about 14% thru, but after letting it do its thing, it continued. Converting one at a time, it started not responding & crashing around the Furniture-Herman Miller Collection desk & seating. Thanks again for your help!

I'm opening each of my 2015 architect resource libraries object files to save them as 2016 objects, so I can continue using the large library that are not available to the 2016 version. I have been able to open and save as a 2016 version in the correct folder many files. But all of a sudden, it stopped allowing me to finish doing this. It now locks up or crashes & close. So my question is, am I suppose to be able to do this? Or are the 2015 object files no good for 2016?

Will my existing VW Arch & RenderWorks 2015 work with the new Windows 10 or do I need a new version of each. Has anybody used VW & RW 2016 with Windows 10? Thanks for any info !

How about the Door Tool in the Building Shell tool set. Doing just the door is great, except for the exterior & interior trim. Would be great to be able to change the profile of these trims verses using no trim in the Door Tool & then adding your own, this would speed things up. My main question on the Door Tool is the transom over the door, I can not figure out how to adjust the transom bar thickness, as in height, not all transom bars are 2" thick. I see now way to adjust this. Thanks

Well if Jim has never had a crash or lock up I will be building my next pc computer just like his, because every computer I've had since MiniCad 7 crashed all the time.

Hey James, thanks for letting me know its not just me having these problems. I'm a set designer for a tv production Under The Dome working 10 to 11 hours a day 5 & 6 days a week. I do mainly 2d drafting of the sets at a very fast pace. Some days I sometimes have up to 4 lock ups in one day, sometimes loosing work that had been previously saved. I have auto save & back up set to 15 minutes, but I even loose some work save there too. It seems to freeze/lock up more when going in & out of view ports fast. So I am now drawing everything on the design layer with annotation & then using view ports on sheet layers to add the title blocks. So far this seems to help with only one lock up in 3 days. Even with just 2d drafting, I have to split my file into two separate files to keep it from slowing down. In a set of D size sheets, 10 sheets is when I split to another file to keep from slowing VW down. I've done 3d drawings with 2d view ports of my own projects, buts it slows down my computer to much for the speed I need for set design. I thought I had a powerful custom built computer, but this program can really use up all of its power. I've use VW scince the first pc version, MiniCad 7 which crashed every 5 minutes or so. Its good for me to know that someone else that using this software for work has more crashing problems that me. Thanks again for posting!

Thanks Jim, that's what is must be. I was doing a online tutorial a while ago that had me reset the preferences to default. I will not do that again.

I use to be able to ungroup dimensions. But now for some reason when I try to ungroup dimensions it deselects them. Was this a change or did a setting change?
