Mark Aceto replied to Jesse Cole Guthery's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
and i think there is a way to convert to SubD but it's a multi step workflow that includes interpolated nurbs surfaces or something... a rabbit hole for another day -

Workaround: -
Love the data tags. It looks like they're mirrored on the right side. You can uncheck "mirror something something flippity flew" in the data tag settings to not do that. Unless that's by design, in which case, keep it as is.

As much as a I hate to say this, you can reference the screenshots. As long as you rename them with the same name (replacing the old one and the same location) your drawing will auto import. Gotta love Vectorworkflows.

Literally going through the same thing right now on my gig although its more for client viz than previz. @Dave Donleyany suggestions for @mjm?

BTW those renders look gorgeous, so I can see why you were fighting for them.

I had a Redhshift render solid black last night. Anyway, for the sake of the deadline, and your sanity, could you juice the SLVPs to 300dpi (or even 150) and use screenshots? Obviously not ideal but you could hand off to the previz programmer, and carry on living your life. Or do what my buddy does which absolutely triggers me: import the same screenshots and then publish… It’s dirty but it gets the job done. Also we need to add the hug emoji the community forum support group.

It's a regression from 2022.

Adding the IES file to a Lighting Device in v2022, saving the file, then opening it in v2023... strips the IES file. That's it. I'm done.

When importing an IES file for a Robe CycBar 15, I keep getting this error: The light distribution file is invalid. Please load a new one. IES files attached: CycBar_15_IES.zip Any idea how to solve this?

I tried replacing the "-1" with the Total Luminaire Lumens value but I keep getting this error: IES files attached: CycBar_15_IES.zip

One trick with this is to automatically align the data tag to any to any object in the drawing to set it's orientation, and then you can move it from there. It doesn't have to live there permanently. I often run into this, especially with rounded objects like truss or pipe, pick a nearby face to align them to (could be a LED screen, wall, floor, speaker, truss CB plate... whatever works) and then move by points. It's a few extra clicks but super easy.

They're actually in the Workspace files (base64-encoded ASCII that need to be converted to icons) per that other thread... -
