  1. No. The original file is just plain text. This problem keeps on occuring. I can't help feeling that it's something to do with the configuration of the file into which all the original files are 'sucked' in to. When I have my back turned, this principle file wants to default into arial narrow regular italics but how this effects work group referenced files.........(just a thought). Look forward in desperation to a fix. regards Chris Tebbutt
  2. When I work group reference in a file, the dimensions turn into italics rather than the plain text created in the original file. Is there a cure for this disorder. Chris Tebbutt
  3. I have just upgraded to Vectorworks 10.1 and the dimensioning has slowed right down. Snapping to a line is slow. Is there anything i can do to increase the speed regards Chris tebbutt
  4. What Walther describes is basically what I do. What a chore. As for vectorscript - I can only drive the car. I'm not really interested in looking under the bonnet. If only I could get my hands dirty.
  5. Whoops I omitted part of response by giving an example of masonry which the finish was applied to. Wall types with overal lengths and particular heights - 1 line of a masonry schedule might say wall - 100mm thick lightweight concrete blocks, height - 2400mm, total length for this wall type - 200metres.
  6. Finishes applied to walls. 1 line of a plaster schedule might say 12mm dense plaster applied one side to - 100 thick lightweight concrete blocks, height - 2400mm, area - 480 m2 Other items that might be attached to different wall and finishes would be such elements as skirtings, picture rails, coving, tiles. Some of these elements are lineage schedules such as skirtings and some are area information such as tiles on walls. the same approach would be applied to floor and ceilings i.e. floor - 200m2 of 150mm x 50 mm timber joists @ max 450 mm crs - finish - 200m2 20mm ply. I trust I have understood your question. As an architect, the items raised above are the issues that would interest me.
  7. Many thanks for your reply and I will give it a whirl. It appears to me that there could be a demand for a materials scheduling/pricing module which automatically sucks info from the model.
  8. I would like to automatically create schedules of materials such as total linear lengths and areas of walls. I thought I could do this simply by creating a record format with suitable fields and then using the wall tool, merrily draw walls all over the drawing, create a report which would give me the information. However to do this I have to manually enter, in the object info shape pallette, the lengths and heights of every wall from information provided in the data area. What a chore! Is there an automatic way of doing this. Perphaps there is a completely different way of doing this with VS but not being a VS person.... Many thanks in great anticipation. Chris tebbutt

  10. I imported an image file (tif) and placed it on my drawing at a particular scale. I needed a larger scale version of that image file on the same drawing so I created a link layer, linked to the original image file layer, and placed this link layer on the drawing. On printing the original original imported image file prints perfectly but the linked layer just prints grey. Any ideas? MTIA Chris Tebbutt
  11. I have vectorworks 9 for windows. My service bureau wants HPGL2 plt files. How do I create these files in Vectorworks. How do I print plt files and is there software to view the files for checking purposes. Many thanks in great anticipation
