  1. Had same problem when inserting hydraulic ram into assembly drawing. Barrel of ram disapeared when rendering or copy to lines. The barrel was a solid subtraction consisting of a sweep with an extrude subtracted for the ports. As port detail not required in assy drg, ungrouped solid subtraction and deleted extrude for port holes. Was then able to render and copy to lines. Vectorworks 10.5.1 mechanical , OS Windows 2000 Pro, Pentium III 800Mhz, 256 ram
  2. Opening VectorWorks 9.5.1 Drawings in VectorWorks 10.0.0 found problems with Callouts. Adding a new or editing a current callout causes the Marker Style to change from a Dot to a Solid Arrow. Changing Marker Style & Size in Object Info Pallet has no effect on Callout. Have found un-ticking ‘Use at Creation’ box for the None Class settings will allow the callouts to display correctly. This causes another problem when using the Center Mark Tool. As I like to change the center mark to a Centerline class but this no longer works in updating the Attributes with ‘Use at Creation’ un-ticked. Program: VectorWorks 10.0.0 Computer PC Op System Windows 2000 Professional 5.002195 Processor 803 MHz Genuine Intel Ram 261MB
  3. To create a 3D model of an object with thread suggest you do not Subtract or Add solids. Create body to root of thread, create thread with a sweep. Then group or create symbol of the two objects, plus a 3D locus.
  4. Have quite often created complex profile shapes, extruded these then find cannot subtract holes from the extruded item. Getting a message cannot calculate please edit or crashing the program. I was redrawing the complex shapes from scratch trying different methods of clipping and adding surfaces until eventually creating the object. Have now found if you edit the profile shape with the 2D Reshape tool. Then move around the vertexes making up the profile shape you find a number of these are doubled up or a number very close together, by deleting the excess vertexes from profile shape you are then able to subtract from the extrude.
  5. OBJECT INFO PALETTE Every so often when moving objects by editing coordinates in Object Info palette will not move, figures jump back to current setting. Have to use move from Tool Menu. Can then move again using Object Info Palette. Mirror Tool A object that is mirrored when rendering with Open GL has shadow on wrong side.
  6. Creating Copy to Lines view of a Item such as a head gland for a hydraulic ram gives an unsatisfactory result (isometric view) lose half the view of internal surface. I am a new user to vectorworks starting with 9.01, had a training consultant in yesterday who confirmed this was a fault in the program. Use to work in 8.5. Temporary work round was to sweep gland profile 180deg (half model) instead of 360deg to be able to get a satisfactory copy to lines view. Take case of a simple bush. Created using solid subtraction (yes ensuring internal projects beyond external each end) the copy to lines does not work properly but does on a simple bush created by sweep or extruded cliped surface.
