This might be better posted in the Printing area. But I'll have a go.
We use Epson extensively and strongly prefer their drivers over the Gimp drivers shipped w/Apple's OS. You can download the latest/greatest directly from Epson's website.
The only time I can remember our printers "hanging" the problem turned out to be memory. You're potentially creating a pretty big memory hog with a batched job, especially if it contains a number of fonts/hatches/patterns and color. We use a MacMini (CoreDuo) with 1.5g of memory as our print server. It works flawlessly.

I'm fairly certain "tot" is simply a typo; should have been "to".
You'll find a number of threads dealing with .pdf issues in the Printing/Plotting area of this board. Regretfully, because we're Mac-base, I'm not as much use to you as I might be. Unless you're printing to an Acrobat "printer", I don't believe VW uses Acrobat directly in the export process.
The font issue itself (which seems to be the root of your problem) can probably be resolved by removing the offending font from your System. Again, since I'm unfamiliar with PCs, I don't know the name of the/a utility to use.
Perhaps someone else can weigh in here, but I'd encourage you to do a search on this board for font conflicts and for additional pdf information.

Or, instead of moving the referenced layer around, layer-link to it and move the link around. As Tom points out, the Ignore Source Origin is a brand new feature that helps overcome the relocate "hallucinations" we all suffered from before. But, you'd still have to create links if you want more than one.

Welcome aboard. You don't say from which version you're upgrading. (And it's often helpful to post which platform/OS you're working on.)
Window & door sills (turning them off and on in 2D) will take a little getting used to. Do a search here. . .there are several threads in the last year addressing this.
My instinct would be that by the time you incorporate "partial" 3D in your drawings, you might as well go ahead and set wall, window and door heights accurately and you'll have more than half your elevation/section work already drawn . . . and any changes you make to the model (move windows, relocate doors) will automatically be updated. You'll be using the vertical perspectives (front, side, back) for your viewports in addition to Top/Plan. You'll still end up "drawing" at least some of the elevation and section detail directly in 2D: we do all of it directly in Viewport Annotations. Preferably, after the building is pretty much to final design.
I'm sure others will have additional pointers.

You can add arrowheads to polylines. At the bottom of the Attributes Pallet, there are two buttons next to the Arrowhead menu. One button will add an arrowhead to the beginning of your line, the other adds it to the end.
While you can edit the them, I don't know a straightforward way to customize the arrowhead styles on the pallet. If you're adept at VectorScript, you can modify virtually everything. . .but I did say straightforward.
Could you create your custom leader line as a symbol and drop it in where you need it? You can create a custom symbol arrowhead for use with Callouts, but you aren't able to directly make a leader line with two line weights.

That's exactly what mar shrammeyer is referring to. Create a "sun" for each quadrant of the sky (I use NE, NW, SW, SE) and give each one it's own class. Paste them (one or all) onto each design layer from which you create elevation or isometric VPs. (I actually have them already in place on my templates) Then, from the VP, you can turn on/off the appropriate sun.

The "Ungroup" command breaks it down to lines and text objects. The objects are no longer dimensions.
I learn something every day, but this one mostly amuses me. Katie, I truly do use Ungroup, consistently and regularly, to reduce chains to individual dimensions. Probably at least once a day, maybe every other day. I thought that's how it worked. (Now, watch my copy of VW change to work the way it was told to back at Home Office!)
The others here tell me they only use Decompose. Hmmmmm.

Try setting both your 2D and 3D conversion res to a higher option. They're on the Edit and 3D panes of the VW Preferences dialog. You might need to re-create the stair object with the higher setting to get all the benefit.

Thanks so much for this post. A little humility along with some responsibility-taking are a taste of fresh water. Mix in a clear explanation to remedy the problem in the near-term and a commitment to fix it in the longer-term and the brew is well worth drinking.

Tabs are often used to align text, as you point out. And they are used at the top of file folders to enable quickly finding the right folder. . .a metaphor that's been widely used in computer interfaces. You'll find tabs in VW on many dialogs and most of the pallets, including the much-relied on Object Info Pallet (OIP). To extend the diatribe, I see a pull-tab on the FedEx package that just landed on my desk and I suppose those little leather extensions on the back of my boots (that I use to help pull them on in the mornings) might even be called tabs.
You'll notice by Peter's avatar that he's posted more to this board than any other user; which represents no small investment of time/effort to the wellbeing of this little community. He is, without fail, the most considerate and very possibly the most knowedgeable when it comes to interacting with the program and getting the most from it. Personally, I'm grateful whenever he takes the time to respond to a query.
If you're really interested in relaxation, you'll want to look forward to the day when Petri posts a comment to one of your threads. He doesn't suffer fools well.

Some possibilities:
1a) You can Update a VP set to Hidden Line rendering and. . .when you enter Annotations the updated rendering will remain if you have Save Viewport Cache turned on in your Document Preferences.
2b) Make your own textures as explained above. . .will take you about 5 minutes after you get the hang of it. (I know the above is an extremely abbreviated explanation, but you can search either the KnowledgeBase or these boards for multiple threads that address this issue.) I don't know of any line-art textures available to the public, but they may well exist.
Don't forget you can stack VPs to accomplish a multitude of "looks".

What Benson said. . .only take note of the polyline's perimeter length (possibly even Copy it) and when you enter the Dup Along Path dialog you can enter the length/x where x=number of segments you wish. (You can actually enter the formula directly in the dialog and VW will do the math for you.)

Sometimes the easiest way to edit a worksheet is to create a new one with the Create Reports option. I (too often) can't remember the "code" for a data item to start a new header. . .so I'll just generate a new report. Yes, you have to recreate the formatting, etc. So it's not always the quickest.

It will help greatly to know your platform and OS; which version of VW you're running.

And you don't see these holes in wireframe? Which rendering mode are you using? Which version of VW and what OS are you on?
This is a stretch: Do you see these strange artifacts when rendering from the Design Layer (DL) or from a Viewport (VP)? Do you by chance have some 2D shapes lying around? If so, turn off Project 2D in your VP settings.

Sorry, mon. . .we landlubbers here in the gradually thawing northern climes are simply not buying. BTW, my wife finally talked me into taking a cruise this last January. We made it to Tortolla and I realized I didn't even have my palm pilot with me to give you a ring!!

Make sure your schedule has a column for the info you want retrieved. If the door appears on the schedule, all the info is available for that door. . .you just might need to tweak your column headers.

We have one of each (G5 and Intel CoreDuo) iMac. Both are solid; either will be a significant upgrade from what you've been using; the Intel is a noticeable step up in speed (especially rendering) from the G5. If you watch Apple's webstore, you can often pick up a factory reconditioned CoreDuo for 15?20% off list.
We don't run Windows on the Intel very often, but haven't had crashing problems when we did.
