  1. Thank you for your reply rDesign, I am actually using r2024 on windows 11 for reference. Glad you were able to reproduce the issue. I did try the file in 2023 and noticed slightly different results but still wrong. It seems to be far worse in v2024. The result seems to change depending on where you click on the arcs.

Peter, as far as I can tell I can't reverse an arc and changing how its drawn is not an option.

Also noticed that you can't fillet a polyline? is this correct? It always says parallel lines can't be filleted or chamfered. see attached image.

  2. So for years now when I try to fillet two arcs the result is exactly the opposite from what I want. For example, if I want to do a 10' radius at a street intersection, I don't get the radius that would connect the two perpendicular road segments (at the curb not the centerline), I get what would be the entire portion of the arc that I don't want that connects to nothing. This used to be a function that worked. Rarely do I get to use two line segments and have perfect 90 degree road intersections, they are mostly arcs that connect perpendicular to each other. Anybody else having issues with the fillet tool not working properly in other ways? This has been a consistent issue since maybe v2008. Please don't suggest the road tool, not a usable option for anything.

I wonder if the UI modernization will be available for both Mac and Windows..

Also, will Windows users finally be able to set a dark theme?

    Looks great,

So will anyone answer if windows gets the new UI improvements other than just the dark theme?

  4. Has anybody else been experiencing this? I use several worksheets in my drawing sets and set criteria based on what I want to show in the worksheet, unfortunately since switching to VW2020 when I try to edit a worksheet or set criteria within it VW 2020 will just shut down. I've tried all the graphics modes and updated my graphics driver and none of that helps. Its not something that happens everytime but once it starts it will keep doing it over and over. Since worksheets are pretty central to all my drawing sets it pretty much makes VW2020 too unreliable to get any work done.

  5. PC users,  I found a utility called "classic color panel" by wintools.info. It enables you to change the color settings just like you could prior to windows 8. It works better than trying to use the high contrast settings, just remember to save your current color settings before changing anything as it changes settings in the registry (It will ask). It doesn't seem to have any effect on any other part of windows, only programs that use the ancient windows interface from windows 3.1 see the changes. Its not a theme that required a crack either, working really nice so far, Vectorworks has a couple issues notably the resource manager seems to not adhere to the color changes but otherwise working great, Lots of room to customize. I was hoping for a dark interface with VW2020 but this actually seems to work well until that happens. I had previously posted about using the high contrast setting to do this but that had a lot more limitations than this seems to. I am not associated with the utility in any way.

  6. Could this be a duplicate serial number that is already in use on the network causing the laptop Vectorworks to shut down?? Just a thought. I think if it was a graphics issue it wouldn't be so polite by waiting for everything to load but I may be wrong.

Think I have it sorted with that method Uglycat... thanks

How do I change the font and font style for the plant tags/labels so they sit with the current RHS nomenclature standards...

E.g:  Acer japonicum 'Kings Copse'   Achillea millefolium 'Rougham Cream'

Please say this is possible as it also throws the font for the entire drawing out too...

Maybe I am misunderstanding the tag question here but why cant you put the plant tag on a class with an assigned text style that fits the requested standard?

  8. Hey Stu, We struggled with this for awhile but its pretty straightforward. Draw a circle, Under the landmark dropdown menu select create plant style from selection, Next a dialog will appear and near the top you willl see a get plant data button, use this to attach the planting record from the built-in database. Right below the get plant data button is a spot to set the plant ID which is the plant label. Hope that helps.

  9. Mike,

My solution that has worked for me has been to close Vectorworks, sign out of windows 10 (If you are using windows), sign back in to windows, launch the updater manually. This has worked for three separate updates now. Don't relaunch Vectorworks when you sign back in!! Do the update first. Hope that works for you.

  10. UPDATE: I tried installing again doing what Jim suggested again by disabling the firewall and virus protection however this time I logged out and back in before I launched the updater, I'm not smart enough to know why that worked but it did and now am running SP1. Maybe a shared file is being by something else preventing the updater from running?!?! Thanks Jim

  11. Benson, Thanks for your input but no luck with that. By your nomenclature it sounds like you are running a mac so its possible there is no issue on that side of things. I can add that I was successful installing the update on another windows 10 pc with no issues, just the work system that is having this problem. I will add too that the system the install worked is using an AMD video card and this one is on an Nvidia if that matters. I submitted a request to tech support.
