  1. No, 25 is still the limit in V10, the last increase was from 8 to 9. Steve
  2. One thing to check is to make sure that you do not have more than 25 label legends in your label legends folder. Steve
  3. Open the classes window and check to make sure that all of your label classes are turned on to be visible.
  4. I have to agree. All the speed issues that I had with previous versions have been corrected. The last speed problem that I had was with twofered lamps, that was corrected with 10.5. I can easily navigate around 400 lamp plots with no problem. Steve
  5. I also brought up the problem a long while ago when I upgraded to V9. It was then explained to me that the towfer circuit (and other twofer info) containers had been changed from V8 to only automatically appear when the show container box is checked in the label legends manager. This was an apparent conscious design change which at the time (I was told) was to be under review for a possible change in VW10.It obviously has not been changed in the new Version and since I only use containers on twofers, I currently have to type in the container I want (circle) in the twofer OI box. I also have some slow info. updates and other speed issues when using twofers in Ver 10. Nemetschek is aware of these and is supposed to be resolving them. Steve
  6. If you mean that you want to keep the same lamp info (unit, color, channel) by just replacing the symbol (ie a different instrument)then you should not be having a problem. I do this all the time and the only thing I sometimes have to do is change the label legend if new symbol is largely diffrent in size. I am using SL 10 on a PC but there was no problem in the 9.0 days either. Steve
  7. There seems to be a bug with the convert to instrumets and multi cir. that has something to do with the set orgins button. As a work around it was suggested to me to set the origins to drawing center. That did allow me to convert to inst and muti cir. but occasionally I could not get the orign cross hairs to go away.
  8. I am getting the same error when I refresh the whole plot as opposed to a few lamps at a time. I believe there is a bug that has to do with refresh etc. with SL10

    SL10

I just started working with Spotlight 10 and noticed that updating instrument information when a twofer is used is extremely slow as compared with 9.5. This occurred when updating channel, color, template info. etc. It also takes a very long time to convert 9.5 drawings to 10. Everything else seems great so far, and the new features are a welcome addition. Thanks Steve Ross

    Twofers

Thanks for the confirmation. I see that the udating will occur if the channel is already assigned, but since I usually apply channels and color etc. from the LW paperwork I will just have to select them and update from the, twofer obj. info box. I agree, the updating of the second twofered lamp automatically is a nice feature. I guess for me it is not a huge issue since these days I do not have to as much twofering as in the past. Steve

    Twofers

Upon further investigation I realized that the twofers will automatically refresh and appear so long as the container was selected in the label legend. Since I do not want a channel container on non twofered lamps I was adding the container individually from the obj. info box, which seemed to require selecting the twofers and then updating to get the channel to appear. Is there as way around all this. Thanks Steve

    Twofers

Will twofers update and show the channel upon refreshing the instruments. I have imported files from LW then refreshed, but only the non twofer channels show. The same thing happens if I select the twofer and type the channel in from the obj. info box. I can only get the channel to show in the container when I select the twofer and updated the instrument in the obj. info box. Am I missing a step? Thanks Steve
  13. My problem on this topic is that I occasionally loose pref. and the 4 recently used files in the file menu. I am closing the program correctly, only using 9.5.1 and there has been no crash. I am running on windows 98 and there does not seem to be any paticular pattern as to when I loose the info. Any new thoughts? Steve
  14. I have found that if I use the 2d selection tool for the parts of any type of cyc light, then convert to instrument, then multi circuit, it works fine. If I use the instrument insertion tool first, the multi circuit conv. does not happen. Steve
  15. Double check that you do not have more than 25 label legends. That is the max currently allowed. If you there are more than 25 in a paticular document you will get a Vector Script Error. sross
  16. I don't know if this will help, but when i have occasionally had that problem I found that "device type" did not say light in the light info record. sross
  17. I have just started with 9.5 and so far the improvements are helping alot. However, for me, this degree bug is a pain. Removing the degree from the name helped when editing the symbol within the document, but when I exported to LW then reimported I got rectangels for some Shakespeares and Source 4s. I also tried removing the degree symbol for the instrument type both in the document and the instrument record. The results were the same. Even after removing all the ? from the instruments, some lamps edited correctly and some turned to rectangles. All of this was corrected by replacing the symbols. This holds untill the next import/refresh. Any Solutions?? SRoss
  18. The degree problem is on other instruments besides Source 4s (ie Shakespeares). I hope this bug can be fixed soon since it is a bit of a pain to have to rename lamps in my various documents. Thanks SRoss

    Speed Issues

The way I have worked around the current speed issue is to put the instruments for each lighting positon or two (depending on their size) into a different class, then turning on the classes that I want to work on. This method has allowed me to move around the drawing fairly quickly. Its not an earth shattering solution, but work for me especially on my big plots. Steve Ross
  20. Just wondering if the summary box font scaling problem will be addressed any time soon. I use this function and the fonts currently print much too small to be read comfortably. In addition, the position name does not center it self vertically, and extends horizontally outside the gray area of the box if too long. Is there a restriction on the length of a position name to work in the summary boxes?? Thank you Steve Ross

    KEY

Is there any paticular reason or cause that every sample of an instrument would not be included in the key. The utilities key function leaves one or more out every once in a while. Thanks, Steve Ross VS9 on Win 98

    Summary Info

IN V9.01 will the summary box info update automatically besides using refresh and/or turning the summary boxes on and off? Thanks, Steve Ross
  23. quote: Originally posted by ArenaLights: I am using versin 9.01 I am having trouble with reinporting data from lightwrite after I have exported it edited it and reimported. I am using the external ID as the manual says . the program counts throught the lights and then a message saying that all lights were not updated, and the ones that were not updated would be selected. Each unit on the plot was selected. Probly a stupid mistake, but I have tried a few things and still have been having trouble. Thank You Tlaloc Lopez-Watermann Arena Stage Washington D.C. I had the same importing problem and have discovered that the import first record box in the import inst data box should be unchecked not checked as the manual shows. There seems to be a mistake in the manual. I also discovered that for me I have to keep the legends data unlinked to avoid messing up the instrument legends upon importing. Steve Ross
