  1. Is there a way to find out from your side with the french what is going on?

So what you get are holes in the frame  unbelievable :(

I don't know what to do (go and have a drink...)

Seriously if someone else (another country) can test I’ll be happy to have some backup

  2. Thanks Marissa

Would it mean that the french version is not uprading all the nodes!!! I made the change ± 3 weeks ago as asked when I received the post from Cesyam or do you have a SP5?

just tried your node. It is not changing the problem. If you go to the resulting object in 2d only the cutting part is seen. As soon as I path extrude the object becomes transparent and not cut by my "flowers". If I switch the node to a normal extrude to test I have the good result (a nice solid frame)

  3. hello all

Thanks to DomC my building a frame script is working well. I have started to carve the frame.

Here comes the tricky part. To make it work I use the duplicate along path via symbols.

My frame is built via path extrude. So the object I want to cut is from path extrude and the cutting object is coming from duplicate. When I apply the solid Boolean node (substract) nothing happens. I have all my objects but no cut.

Of course to be sure I wasn’t making mistakes I tried with 2 normal objects and it worked. It is impossible de substract a normal object from the duplicate along path and impossible to cut a normal object from an object madre from the duplicate along path .

Are the objects built from duplicate or path extrude not real objects and unbreakable, or is it because they are built from symbols? :S

  5. Hello back from hell

So cool this symbol node I wish I knew how to script !

I have tried your script, it works well until I wrap. Then I get an error message and the result is the circle and the rectangle from the symbol

So I don't know if it's my computer or if you get the same result.

I am surprised  because I thought you needed 3d poly to path extrude and in your script it's working with 2d.

Second question if I use the symbol node would I have to get in the script and add the symbol name in the list ?

    tanks for the help

  6. Thanks for the answer

The explanations are very clear but I don’t understand everything about them. Being in a rush on work I will have to let it go for a while.  When the script will be ready I should have about 150 different types of shapes for the picture framing, from XVII century to XXI this is the reason why I started from the bookshelf script. I thought to separate in centuries and from there into depth. If I use the symbol node , can I pick in the OIP choice? So next thing for me is to work on your part 3: from the list turn it into a usable object (maybe a copy node would make it) use the copy and put back the content  into the symbol ?

Too many guesses and no time to try.

  7. This is a very weird script. It erases the symbols inside the resource manager.

The primary idea of the script was to design frames of different shapes straight from the size of the picture image using multiple symbols for base.  This is not possible in VW because of the way symbols are packed.

Marionette is THE solution. I started from a normal script based on size of the image, a shape and path extrude. It woks fine but you cannot have a library of shapes (see script picture).

So looking at Stephan script I borrowed the beginning (popup menu) and tried.

First I made some symbols, than I replaced in the resource manager, not knowing how to use the popup menu and symbol in folder nodes.

I could then get my shapes to appear  (Stephan I will need a lesson on the symbol folder node).

So normally from there select in the OIP -> content node + ungroup gives me a 2d poly able to replace my first script rectangle.

At this point using the path extrude should work but here comes the awkward and strange thing.

Instead of shaping the frame I only get the 3d poly rendering without the shape. At this stage the symbol as disappeared from the resource manager; I still have the name, the vignette image but the symbol itself is gone. If I edit the symbol the vignette vanishes and nothing is left.

You can try by drawing your own symbol and see what will happen.

I am glad to have invented the symbol destroyer

  8. Hello

After a bit of work (and thinking) this is the usable version of the table showcase.

The only “problem” comes from the textures. Sometime when you change one, the others are changing too. VW bug ?

The names in the OIP are in French, easy to change.

Last I don’t know how to manage to have the textures in the right folder of the OIP

  9. hello

I looked at your book script more than impressive; you do know how to use the lists.

About the Marionette object, I am using the symbols to move faster.

I transform my Marionette object into a parametric symbol and this is what I use in the plans. Of course first I make a symbol of the script (thanks webinar) and this is what I put in my plan. If I know I have to move the object often, I copy an ungroup the object (loosing the Marionette properties), and make a symbol, not parametric of course, with the same name. This is the object I move until I find its place. I wait to change the properties until the last moment or if I know I wont move it again. Then I replace by the parametric symbol and ungroup it to transform it again into a parametric object.

I seems a long journey for a little result, but when you have time for a coffee between each move because 20 marionette objects are moving in a zoom, it worth the gymnastic.

  10. Weird but usable once you know. The best way I found, is to limit the subdivion object with extruded rectangles. When you move the face it sticks to the extrude rectangle. This way it is easy to get the distances you want and then to modify. The other "news" is that it is easier to start with a square to draw a circle than to use the sphera (less points to start with).

  11. I had the same problem untill I found ""the solution?". Before wrapping I make a symbol of the script and then I wrap. When I import the object in the new file, I import the script AND the symbol of the object. The object being a parametric symbol. This way,  I have no more bugs or VW quitting.

  12. Hello

I tried to work with subdivision and encountered a “problem”.

    When you start with a cube 10cm x10cm you get a cube 10cm x10cm. If you try a sphere 10cm Ø you get 9,58 cm Ø.

Because you have no measure in the subdivision mode, until you try to match your object in you plan, no way to know.

Then when the complex object is finished it is too late. It is the same with round objects (ex: cylinder).

    Is there a reason I don’t understand?

A little help would be great.

    Best for the new year

  13. Hello

Going on textures in marionette I am turning crazy.

Each time (not true, very often) when you wrap a script and turn it into an object textures are changing; I decide a texture in the get node and the result is a surprise. I change in the OIP, put the right textures, open the script add something in and … when I close, the object with different textures usually bricks.

The other part of this post is about the OIP. I would like the textures to end in the render section and not in the object one any idea ?

  14. Thanks Alan got the point, I have to make the hole in the symbol  (hole component).

    I can finish my images

Lots of clicks to override the wall functions. We are using a specific tool instead of the true destination of the pop up wrote in vw. I suppose half cut should open half of the wall, and cut, the entire section.

Of course my simple object becomes a symbol it means to create a new symbol for each showcase, none are the same in the exhibit! The file get heavier every minute.

Next goal is to lighten the script before inserting electric tracks on the sides and top

  15. I spoke too soon: not perfect yet

if you insert the showcase in the wall you can then choose in the OIP if the wall is stopped half stopped not stopped ect.

In the French version percement interrompu, percement non interrompu, demi percement, pas de percement

If I switch to open gl, with the first one the wall is totally open (normal) but with the half I should have my showcase visible and  its not the case the wall overrides the inside.

    Any idea.

For the moment I manage because there is no way to see both sides at the same time so I open the wall but my next room have a mirror…

  16. hello all

we had this topic a long time ago

This is the way counts works  "if you have a number in the name it can bug. If you pass 9 the next digit is A than B (=11) etc up to F. We are on an hexadecimal base."

I never tried after F guess it should be 1A, that would put 16 infos in the box not counting textures options that are ordered immediately after the texture name

    hope it helps

  17. THANK YOU  all

I have mastered my showcase and it works in a real document.

The case automatically fits in the wall, you can decide the axis distance, the glass thickness and much more; now the textures inside and outside.  I decide the size of the visible part of the case and the rest is automatically calculated. Tooo good.

Anyone who wants to use it is welcome. Just ask for the script.
