  1. This is a very weird script. It erases the symbols inside the resource manager. The primary idea of the script was to design frames of different shapes straight from the size of the picture image using multiple symbols for base. This is not possible in VW because of the way symbols are packed. Marionette is THE solution. I started from a normal script based on size of the image, a shape and path extrude. It woks fine but you cannot have a library of shapes (see script picture). So looking at Stephan script I borrowed the beginning (popup menu) and tried. First I made some symbols, than I replaced in the resource manager, not knowing how to use the popup menu and symbol in folder nodes. I could then get my shapes to appear (Stephan I will need a lesson on the symbol folder node). So normally from there select in the OIP -> content node + ungroup gives me a 2d poly able to replace my first script rectangle. At this point using the path extrude should work but here comes the awkward and strange thing. Instead of shaping the frame I only get the 3d poly rendering without the shape. At this stage the symbol as disappeared from the resource manager; I still have the name, the vignette image but the symbol itself is gone. If I edit the symbol the vignette vanishes and nothing is left. You can try by drawing your own symbol and see what will happen. I am glad to have invented the symbol destroyer frame_test_.vwx
  2. Version 0.9.9

This showcase can be inserted in walls. It works fine but ... Textures are wild animals. When you change one sometimes it changes all the others. Last the OIP is messy because ordering is not yet sufficiently secure to use, specially if you start using the object in a professional file. Be careful, this is a Marionette object RECORD often.
  3. Version 0.9.9

Second type of showcase Used to put objects with a flat cover on top. By changing the width of the wood you are able to put labels behind the glass. This version does not include recessed lights places bellow the wood.
  4. Version 0.9.9

This object is made to simplify life of designers. You can change all the values and see the result immediately, leading to the perfect size against the shown art piece. If anyone has an idea to put the textures parameters in the texture OIP…
  5. I realized the file is 34Mo much too big to use. If you take out the textures it comes down to 1,2 Mo any idea ?
  6. Hello After a bit of work (and thinking) this is the usable version of the table showcase. The only “problem” comes from the textures. Sometime when you change one, the others are changing too. VW bug ? The names in the OIP are in French, easy to change. Last I don’t know how to manage to have the textures in the right folder of the OIP vitrine_socle_.vwx
  7. hello I looked at your book script more than impressive; you do know how to use the lists. About the Marionette object, I am using the symbols to move faster. I transform my Marionette object into a parametric symbol and this is what I use in the plans. Of course first I make a symbol of the script (thanks webinar) and this is what I put in my plan. If I know I have to move the object often, I copy an ungroup the object (loosing the Marionette properties), and make a symbol, not parametric of course, with the same name. This is the object I move until I find its place. I wait to change the properties until the last moment or if I know I wont move it again. Then I replace by the parametric symbol and ungroup it to transform it again into a parametric object. I seems a long journey for a little result, but when you have time for a coffee between each move because 20 marionette objects are moving in a zoom, it worth the gymnastic.
  8. Weird but usable once you know. The best way I found, is to limit the subdivion object with extruded rectangles. When you move the face it sticks to the extrude rectangle. This way it is easy to get the distances you want and then to modify. The other "news" is that it is easier to start with a square to draw a circle than to use the sphera (less points to start with).
  9. I had the same problem untill I found ""the solution?". Before wrapping I make a symbol of the script and then I wrap. When I import the object in the new file, I import the script AND the symbol of the object. The object being a parametric symbol. This way, I have no more bugs or VW quitting.
  10. Hello I tried to work with subdivision and encountered a “problem”. When you start with a cube 10cm x10cm you get a cube 10cm x10cm. If you try a sphere 10cm Ø you get 9,58 cm Ø. Because you have no measure in the subdivision mode, until you try to match your object in you plan, no way to know. Then when the complex object is finished it is too late. It is the same with round objects (ex: cylinder). Is there a reason I don’t understand? A little help would be great. Best for the new year
  11. Hello Going on textures in marionette I am turning crazy. Each time (not true, very often) when you wrap a script and turn it into an object textures are changing; I decide a texture in the get node and the result is a surprise. I change in the OIP, put the right textures, open the script add something in and … when I close, the object with different textures usually bricks. The other part of this post is about the OIP. I would like the textures to end in the render section and not in the object one any idea ? vitrine_encastrée_modulable.vwx
  12. Thanks Alan got the point, I have to make the hole in the symbol (hole component). I can finish my images Lots of clicks to override the wall functions. We are using a specific tool instead of the true destination of the pop up wrote in vw. I suppose half cut should open half of the wall, and cut, the entire section. Of course my simple object becomes a symbol it means to create a new symbol for each showcase, none are the same in the exhibit! The file get heavier every minute. Next goal is to lighten the script before inserting electric tracks on the sides and top
  13. I spoke too soon: not perfect yet if you insert the showcase in the wall you can then choose in the OIP if the wall is stopped half stopped not stopped ect. In the French version percement interrompu, percement non interrompu, demi percement, pas de percement If I switch to open gl, with the first one the wall is totally open (normal) but with the half I should have my showcase visible and its not the case the wall overrides the inside. Any idea. For the moment I manage because there is no way to see both sides at the same time so I open the wall but my next room have a mirror… wall_test.vwx
  14. hello all we had this topic a long time ago This is the way counts works "if you have a number in the name it can bug. If you pass 9 the next digit is A than B (=11) etc up to F. We are on an hexadecimal base." I never tried after F guess it should be 1A, that would put 16 infos in the box not counting textures options that are ordered immediately after the texture name hope it helps
  15. Hi Alan here it is vitrine_modulable_encastrée.vwx
  16. THANK YOU all I have mastered my showcase and it works in a real document. The case automatically fits in the wall, you can decide the axis distance, the glass thickness and much more; now the textures inside and outside. I decide the size of the visible part of the case and the rest is automatically calculated. Tooo good. Anyone who wants to use it is welcome. Just ask for the script.
  17. Hello all If someone could help on this texture pb I am trying to change the size and the orientation of the texture. I thought “set texture map” was the solution but it doesn’t work. Any idea? texture test.vwx
  18. I will try to fake a US number and get the version. It will be a good way to see the differences between the French and the US I think some tools are different !
  19. Hello Please think about the overseas people when using version 2017. It is not available for us before November so we are frustrated not to be able to join. If possible export in 2016 thanks
  20. hello I would like to get in the OIP a popup issued by the list node. I know how to get the popup ,but how to script for only the popup to appear?
  21. hello You can display info in the OIP data if you build a data base. If you change the value it will change the drawing. This is the purpose of the "rail script". Have a look rail script.vwx
  22. nice way to manage without a slider try 199 for the first draw it will fly in the air something odd with the test in if node?
  23. No reason not to use the simplest vw solutions just because we are playing with Marionette. Thanks for sharing
  24. Great the opening draw. What I am trying to do now is to be able to decide in percentage how much you can open the draw. So I am fighting to get a popup equal to the one you have in the texture or light OIP where you can slide from 0 do 100% From what I understand it has to do with “Marionette.OIPControl( 'shape', Marionette.WidgetType.Popup, 0, ['Open','Closed'])” ‘shape’ is the name ‘ ‘Marionette.WidgetType.Popup,’ is the type of window, ‘0’ allows to see what are the choices and ‘open…close’ is what you choose. So I need to find the right WidgetType I have been searching in vw scripts… nothing. I found WidgetType: text, Boolean and a few others attached to Popup for layers or class but no chance in getting the right Popup. Any idea?
  25. Hello Thanks for the look at my script. I am not a programmer so I try to manage from webinar and tests. That’s why my scripts look a bit weird. In this case the reason I need to build the glass top the way I do is professional. My job is light design (all kinds) and what I want to see is the top angle shadow inside the case. If you look at the captures you have the results between the 3 different scripts + one capture where I added a small object so you can see the critical place. Yes there is a pb with the “jumping texture” I don’t know why it changes name. I will add later a texture box in the OIP to change the type of bottom (painted, coated, wood or metal…) For the glass I keep the same kind based on true parameters (color deviation, clearness) depending on the manufacturer and the exhibit. Last and interesting the speed of the rendering between the scripts in fine rendering + indirect light Back to the post title, is it better to change or not to change the node script? Alan you are using “vs.SubtractSolid(blank , tool)” that node seems to work PS just looked at your last post Big difference in rendering between what you get and what I get from your script. This is for the next step
