  1. Having just said that the survey files were working correctly I have just noticed that compared to the GIS file (which looks to be correct when comparing it to the raw data in the dxf) the VW import is out on the X by 190ft and on the y by 332ft.
  2. I am having the same problem and have found issues in 2011, 2012, 2013 and now 2014. My current issue involves a point file generated in GIS from an elevation raster, the points are in NAD83 and locate correctly in GIS. When imported to VW they are in completely the wrong place and instead of measuring 2,175ft from east to west (as it does in GIS) it measures 0.1ft in VW! I have tried different settings in the georeferencing options such as leaving the default WKT projection or setting it to the State Plane for the area, all with no luck. The strange thing is that it seems to be random, with some survey files importing correctly(exported as dxf/dwg from the diff GPS) but files generated in GIS not. I am going to send the files to VSS for inspection as we kept getting the problems and always at a project critcial time which is most annoying. If I reach a solution I will post it up, hopefully we can reach a solution as it has always been a pain working in anything other than BNG, which is ok if your working in the UK.
  3. I have been having problems with SP3 and SP2, when generating site model sections I get the profile lines and the border but the lables and station lines are only generated for half the section. I did a fresh re-install without updating and tested a site model, the section worked fine. I then updated directly to SP3 (bypassing 1 and 2 as the error first presented in SP2) and when I tested it I had the same error occur. I have logged this with vss (our VectorWorks support service) but has anyone else found this problem?
  4. Thanks Christiaan, will give that a go tonight
  5. Annoying update, I did a system restore to try and get my machine working again. Although VW is now showing to be on SP1, as before the change, the site section error still occurs. Going to have to try a complete re-install to see if that works. Don't touch SP2 if you use site modelling!
  6. We just updated to SP2 and now Site Model Sections only generate lables and chainage lines for half the section. Tested the file on a machine that had not been updated (still running SP1) and it worked fine producing a complete section. Has anyone else found this problem?
  7. I thought VW 2012 was going to be 64bit compatable but I am not 100% sure. On the Nemetscheck web site it does state that they 'recommend using 64bit systems' I know, as Ian H said, that this is true with Renderworks but does the same apply to Landmark? We do alot of site modelling and I am having increasing problems with the site model updates crashing, taking forever or getting 'out of memory' errors. Does anyone know, or have experience, to indicate that VW will perform better under 64bit and utilise more RAM i.e. >4GB? I am becoming incresingly frustrated with these issues and I don't know if it is my own ineptness (I am self taught) or a limitation of the software/OS combination. We have Designer/Architect/Landmark/Renderworks
  8. Hi Art V, Thanks for the info, I have had a look at setting the geo-referencing options and making sure everything matches throughout. Thanks for the tip on checking projection, that seems to have done the trick Cheers
  9. Hello, I am having alot of trouble getting some LiDAR data into VW. The base file is an elevation raster (unfortunately I do not have access to the raw point data), I have managed to create a multipoint file in GIS where each point has xyz data. This has then been exported to a DWG file (using the export to CAD funtion in ESRI ArcMap). Tests in GIS show that the data is scaled and georeferenced correctly and has z values that I would expect. When I import this file into VW it is not to scale or georeferenced but the z values are correct. The first time I tried this it was scaled correctly but the z values were incorrect! I am now getting pretty confused as to what settings I shoud use. Any help would be very greatfully received. Import settings are 2D/3D Conversion set to: 2D and 3D This scale = 1:1 Set VW units to match is ticked Import Points As: Loci File consists of approx 30,000 points VW verison 2012 sp1 Windows 7 32bit
