  1. Unless you placed an instance of each of your label legends onto a layer of your drawing the legends were purged also. The purge function dumps any unused items and if the legends are not actually in the drawing it thinks they are not being used. At least that is what has happened to me in the past. Once you complete the purge you can delete them from the drawing. I still have 9.5.3 so it might be different in 10, don't know.
  2. It is a problem and hopefully they can address it in future 10 updates. I must confess I have stopped at 9.5.3. I am happy with it and can't justify the cost to upgrade to 10. Jim
  3. Hey Steve - How are things? Having a fun summer? RE: label issues. There you go making trouble again!! :-) As far as I know the labels are designed to go on top of the instruments and I haven't found a way to get them under. As to the size of the container - I would get your ME glasses if they need 18 Pt :-). Otherwise you will have to create custom containers like you have been doing, they don't resize as far as I know. 4. Sure. What I do is set up a master plot with instances of my most used instruments, with legends assigned to instruments, and a bunch of lighting positions created. Then all you have to do is open the master and you are ready to go. You can't cover every permutation and it is a bit of work up front, but it gives me a jump start.
  5. Before you purge you need to insert an instance of each label legend into your plot. Purge deletes all unused stuff and labe legends are one of them. Once you have complered the purge you can delete the legends and you are set. This comes from experience - and not a good one!!
  6. That's what I do. put it all on the same layer and set my instrument & pipe Z for the height I want.
  7. YEP. According to the 9.5 manual positions, instruments, and focus points need to be on the same layer. My guess is that this holds true for V 10 also.
  8. My guess would be that your focus points and instruments need to be on the same layer. What version and platform are you on?
  9. I built a striplight out of two sections of strips from the striplight parts folder in VW9.5.2. I convert them to multicurcuits. When I insert my lighting key I get two sections of striplights listed in the key as instruments. Anyone figured out how to avoid this??
  10. Could the problem be avoided by not inserting, or deleting your existing key block, until you have placed and converted all the instruments - then place a new key block? I haven't uped to V10 so I haven't tried to convert a 9.5 plot yet.
  11. Strange that if this has been around since 9.5 it hasn't been noticed before and debugged.
  12. I guess it depends if they are still supporting 9.5 (which is what I have) and fixing bugs in it. ????? What version are you using?
  13. I played around with this last night. It appears that when you duplicate accessories they lose their attachment to their instrument. If you place an accessory on an instrument with the accessory attachement tool it will stay associated to that instrument, travel with it and number. Once you duplicate them it doesn't. So unless there is something I missed there is a bug when you duplicate instruments with accessories.
  14. I also usually create the positions first and only duplicate the instruments. I find it quicker than having to rename the position later, or forgeting to!! Also by numbering the first position before I duplicate, especially since the pipes are identical, I save some more time. All I have to do is change the position name on the instruments.
  15. Not the best, but before you duplicate the first position to create the rest, enter the unit number into the accessory info pallet by right clicking on it for the accessories that don't have numbers. Then when you duplicate the position you will have the info and it will duplicate.
  16. all I am finding is an updater to update from 10.0 to 10.1 , nothing about Spotlight 9.5 to 10
  17. What I do is place each instance of my Label legends into my plot ( like I would an instrument) from my resources pallett then I do the purge of everything. If you don't place the legend onto your plot they do go away. Once the purge is complete you can delete the legends from the plot.
  18. One thought for here in the US is to check out the nearest university or college theatre department or engeering department. A lot of them have VW and plotters now days. Won't help much in the middle of the night, unless you do some advance work, but you should be able to find one near by. Over seas ?? - I took my pencil and paper my last trip to eastern europe!!! Nemtschek might be able to provide a list of companies and universities that have their product in cities over there, and also here in the US. Jim
  19. I am having a hard time getting any response to these problems. I posted this a while ago and again last week and again with this post. ???? Your issue was posted a while ago also by someone else. I hope they will have fix for these probems for 9.5.2, as I am not intending to upgrade to 10 if it costs $$$ to do so.
  20. Do you have any thoughts on what is wrong with the two-fer tool? I have talk to other people and they have same problem with using two-fers and trying to move instruments with the two-fers. They go to wierd sizes and positions when you select and move them with the instrumants. What gives? Any ideas or solutions?? Posted this a while ago and got no response!
  21. I have two-fers on my plot. I select and move the instruments with the two-fers - the two-fers go wiggy. Anyone have a solution?? VW 9.5.2 on a PC
  22. i take the easy route. I just draw a line going upstage/DS on my plot and define it as a light position. I can put measurments for the heights of the instruments next to them. You can draw an indicator line to, and place a "footprint" where the position is actually. I do this for booms and Box boom positions
  23. Hey Kevin, Was wondering where you were!! How's the new job? Jim
  24. I just did a test. I placed 2 S4-36 focused them to a focus point. I Drew beams - everything ok. I then duplicated them, moved them to the oposite side of my plot, rotated them, and then selected "draw beam" they worked fine. I them went back and did the same thing but - grouped them, moved and rotated them, then ungrouped, and drew beams - they worked fine - so i don't understand why you are having problems. 1) what type of instruments - do you have the same problem with all types? 2) what version of SL? 3) what platform are you on?
  25. You might try not grouping the instruments. All you have to do is shift select them and drag them to the new position and then do your flipping.
