  1. Kevin I was translating your ACME to ANSI and thought I was missing something. I apreciated your analogy. I am still missing something. Am I supposed to place 4 3d Locus points the size of the hole, then create them as a symbol? Then place the symbol on the wall? No matter what I do, I do not see the wall. I am sure I am doing something simply dumb. If you can send me a file that does it, so I can look at it, that would be great. I believe you have my address, Lonnie Alcaraz
  2. Kevin What do you mean by "Acme "hole" symbol"? Where do I get this? Thank you Lonnie
  3. I hope there is an easy answer to this. Is it possible to take an object, say a rectangle, that has been extruded and return it back to 2d. I know I can take the extrusion to "0" but VW still sees it as a 3d object. Is there a way to truly get it back to 2d? Thank you Lonnie
  4. Why when I change a class to Gray, or a Layer, for that matter, does the text on that class or layer not print. This is troublesome for things like lighting Pipes that I may want to go to Gray for a print but I still want to be able to read the position name. Thanks Lonnie
  5. I am not sure if this will fix the problem but whe I have gotten these errors, it is because the light and the focus point are on the same Z Axis Raise the light higher than the focus point. Regarding Field and Beam angle for custom lights -- have you added the info into the Light Record as a default?
  6. Sorry, no answer but I wanted to say that I have the same problems. Thanks
  7. I have attempted to use the gobo projection tool many times now and can never get the image to render. When I select the "texture" in the resources pallette and go to Edit, I just get a blank image -- is there something wrong with the GAM template images? Please tell me how to make this work. Also, once I assign a Gobo to a projection tool, is the only way to change it, to retype it in the Object Info Pallette -- or can I somehow select from a pull down again? Please help! Lonnie
  8. I am trying to make a few quicktime movies I render a picture, then go to manage scenes and save it, then i render another scene and go to manage scenes and save it Then I animate scenes and select the 1st one and the last one and set the delays and it creates a movie When I view it, all I get is a wire frame of the rendering and no changing Please help Lonnie
  9. Kevin Thanks for the update Can you let me know when the patch is available, as I have a dozen students to pass it along to. Thanks Lonnie
  10. Thanks for the response. However, all items in the group are in the same class and the group itself is in that class, until I re-group it. Not sure why it is happening. It might be something specific to this drawing, as I do not remember it happening before. Thanks Lonnie
  11. I have grouped my Key, Title Block and Notes separately When I ungroup they stay on the right class but when I group them again, they switch to the None class. Is there a fix for this Thanks Lonnie
  12. When sorting by Channel, the numbers would appear as follows:110111213141516171819220etc. This is a seeting in Excel and LW deals with this problem -- is there a way to fix this? Thanks Lonnie
  13. I was using the editable worksheet to quickly put in Purpose and Channel information before I exported it to Lightwright. The 1st time I used it, it was fine. I updated it and used it a few more times. Then I went back to my information and all of the unit #'s, color, channels, etc. was mixed up. I ran a few tests to eventually figure out that whenever I would create a new one and sort it in a different way, for example - the 1st time I sorted it was by Channel and the 2nd time by Position. The spreadsheet would only sort the Column that I asked to sort -- ie. Position. This would be like selecting only 1 column in excell and then sorting. Thus all of the rest of the columns stay the same and just the new sort would change. This causes all of the information to get mixed up. Has anyone realized this, or am I crazy. Thanks Lonnie
  14. When exporting from Vectorworks Spotlight to Lightwright, Vectorworks puts information information in the following columns:1. Text 1 = Symbol Name2. Text 2 = Label Legend Name3. Mark = Not sure -- things like CERST, AFPR, AEFPRT, APRT, APRS, ETC. My question is, how important is this information. Can I delete it in LW and will it still Import back into Vectorworks. The main column that I use a lot is the Mark column and would like to use that column. I am using the VW automated Export, Import and Merge files that it has for Lightwright. I realize I can change where the information is put but my main question, is whether or not that Information is necessary going from Lightwright back to Vectorworks Thanks Lonnie
  15. I cannot find anywhere where it discusses the link between colors and linewidths when plotting It seems like darker color (ie Dark Blue) when printed in Black will appear darker. Is there a way to set up how think or dark something will print in reference to colors, or to make it so they do not differ, so that you can control it on the linewidth level? Thank you
  16. When using the Scale Bar tool in Spotlight, is it possible to create a complete scale that goes across the drawing with "0" being at CL. I seem to only be able to place 1 from CL to SL and then Mirror it to SR. This cause a multiple "0" at CL I hope I am just missing something. Let me know Thanks Lonnie
  17. If you are not seeing "Renderworks Installed" when you open Spotlight then you probably installed it in the wrong directory. As far as I know this is not documented and Vectorworks has not fixed the problem. When installing Renderworks, it asks you if you want to install it in the Vectorworks 9.0 directory and you generally would trust this and say yes. However, the directory that actually holds Vectorworks is Vectorworks 9.01 or 9.5 - this is where you need to install VW. Unistall Renderworks and then reinstall. When it asks you if you want to put it in the VW9.0 directory, click Browse and select the 9.01 directory. This should solve the problem. Good luck Lonnie
  18. Kevin I am running Renderworks 9 and Spotlight 9.5 I tried the Final Quality Renderworks also but it did not work Thanks Lonnie
  19. Katie I already knew about that but given that I was able to export and import multiple times successfully, that cannot be the cause. Given the other problems with aligning and renumbering, I think something else has happened I would love to email this file to someone and have them look at it Thanks Lonnie
  20. I am currently working on a plt where I successfully exported information to and from Lightwright about 6 times but then the 7th time, VW says that some lights have not been updated and they are selected The entire plot is then selected and nothing is updated Also, another problem that is probably related, is when I grab a pipe full of lights and attempt to Renumber, it will only let me do it manually, when before it worked fine Finally, if I select a group of lights to Align, after I start to draw the line to align them to, I get the error "make a selection of objects before using this tool" The lights appear to be selected but the program cannot see them I would love to send this drawing to you, so that you can look at it Thanks Lonnie
  21. I am attempting to render Gobo Projections using the Gobo Projection tool and I am using Custom Renderworks set to all of the settings that the Spotlight Manual tell me to set but still am not seeing the Gobos Any ideas? Thanks
  22. Kevin I starting thinking about one of your comments after I responded to your last note and I tried it. You asked if I had purged. I went back into the drawing and Purged and the Label Legends disapeared from the label legend manager. Why does this happen. I would understand if I was not using the Label Legends but I am using them in the drawing, so why would the disapear from the Legend Manager. This makes purging useless. Please let me know Thanks Lonnie
  23. REFER TO CA[s BELOS FOR ANSWERS: Are the actual label legend symbols no longer in the document or do they just not appear in the label legend manager?THEY JUST DO NOT APPEAR IN THE LABEL LEGEND MANAGER. HOWEVER, IF I REFRESH UNITS, THEY DISAPEAR ON THE DRAWING AS WELL Have you renamed the label legends symbol folder?NO Have you used the "purge resources" command? (This will expunge all of the label legends)I MIGHT OF. PURGE WILL EXPUNGE LABEL LEGENDS EVEN IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY USING THEM? Have you deleted or re-named the label legend record format?NO Do the legends appear in the label legend manager but if you try to edit layout they are empty?NO, THEY ARE NOT IN THE LABEL LEGENDS MANAGER AT ALL. What are your class visiblity options set to?ALL CLASSES THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH LIGHTIG ARE ON Are your label classes turned on?YES I HOPE THAT HELPS LONNIE
  24. Kevin and Eric Please see my 2 postings on Attribute Information, as the problem really lies in the Label Legends randomly disappearing Thanks Lonnie
  25. I am replying to my own posting as I discovered some new info and have narrowed the problem. The reason that the information was disapearing was because the Label Legends had disappeared. I imported the 4 Label Legends from an older version of the drawing and all the information was displayed again. So, now the problem is, is that this is the 2nd time while working on this plot and editing Label Legend Info (ie. Color, Template, Unit or Channel) that the Label Legends themselves has removed themselves from the drawing. I have fixed the problem twice by importing them from an older version of the drawing but that is not to say that this is not a bug. Please let me know if you have any info on this Thank you Lonnie
