  1. Katie I am using the 3d Power Pack but not its workspace I have modified my current workspace and put in the 3d Power Pack tools Is it possible to further modify my current workspace to get Compose Curve in with the 3d Tools? How does Compose and Compose Curve work differently? Thanks Lonnie
  2. Since I upgraded to 9.5.1 the Compose Curve function under the Tool pulldown menu seems to be gone I still have Compose but that does not do what I need I need to be able to take a collection of connected lines and convert them into 1 object -- something that Compose Curve has always done for me If I compose, it does not do this Help!
  3. I am attempting to workgroup in a file and I am getting either an 'I/O Error' or an 'Abnormal Termination Error' It is working on all of the other files I have except for this one. The file is over 6mb, could this be the problem? Thanks Lonnie
  4. I recently installed VW Spotlight 9.5.1 and would like to now unistall 9.5 but when I try it says that it "Could Not Open install.log file" Also, can I unsinstal VW Spotlight, or is it required to run with whatever version I am in -- ex VW Spotlight 9.5.1? Thanks
  5. I am attampting to create a 2d/3d hybrid symbol that I can then use as a lighting position. Creating straight pipes are easy. I create 2 lines and sweep them to get a round pipe Is there a way to take a curved object and sweep it to make it a round pipe -- or any other way to make a curved round pipe?
  6. Kevin Neither of these things are the case. Also, and possibly most impportantly it works everywhere else in the same drawing. Thanks Lonnie
  7. I have a plot with about 5 Label Legends and everything is working fine When I go to a few different lights with the same label legend and try to move specific info, like color and template, they do not move. I can move them on other lights with the same label legends but for some reason on those few lights I cannot change the location of specific info Also, in that same label legend, when I try to reposition the Purpose field in the Label Legend Manager, it does not move. I have tried moving it completely away from the light but to no effect. I have tried going into Choose Fields and removing it, so that I could put it back but when I do the 'Unit Number' moves to the place that the 'Purpose' was and it will not longer move. Then if I put purpose back in, the unit number moves back to its original location and is movable but Purpose is back where it was and will not be moved Thanks Lonnie
  8. I am using 9.5. I am using exactly 25 Label Legends. If I delete 1 of them, so that I have 24, it fixes the problem. So, I guess the maximum is 24. I currently have (") and (-) in my Legends but not (') -- could this cause problems? Thanks Lonnie
  9. I am currently working on a lightplot using VW Spotlight 9.5 and I have about a dozen different Label Legends in the file. Everything was working fine and I was about ready to print when I realized that I had information overlapping other information, so I wanted to edit the layout of some of my legends and create a few new ones. If I go to the pulldown for Spotlight>Instrument Processing>Label Legend Manager, I get a VectorScript error that says "Error 641_655 - Index Outside Array Limits" Also, if I select a unit and go to Spotlight>Instrument Processing>Assign Legend to Insts, I get the error "Error 25_10 - Index Outside Array Limits" I have used Label Legends extensively on other shows and never encoutered this. I can edit a "layout" for a Label Legend by finding it in the Recourses Pallette and editing from there. I have checked this on 3 computers. 1 Notebook and 2 Desktops, all PC. Please help! I have to get this plot out soon, it is 2 days past due.
  10. Mike's solution is only useful is the Layer Link has no objects drawn in it, which is most of the time but there are times where it is useful to use a layer link with stuff in it. Does it work to unlock it and convert to lines? Still not a great solutions There should just be an edit field to unlink the layer -- how hard could that be? Thanks Lonnie
  11. Is there a way to make the box "Email Notification' a default. I cannot think of a reason why I would not want this checked but I often time forget to check it Thanks

  13. I am doing section work and if I place the focus point at 6', where I want the hot spot and then select "draw beam", the beam stops at the 6' mark (at the focus point) I would love for the beam to continue to the floor - maybe to have the focus point be smart enough to have a Focus point and a 'throw distance' Any ideas?
  14. Is there a way to 'un-link' a linked layer?
  15. Remember while in the Linked Layer to be in Active Only for Layers, otherwise the other layers will show up when you stop your walkthrough Also, it is a good idea to name your Layer Links with LL, as there is no other way to tell they are linked
  16. Has anyone designed a show in spotlight for a Rep situation where 1 light might have 3 colors depending on the show Generally the only things that change on a light is its Color and Template but I need a way to represent 3 colors for one light according to show Any ideas? Thanks Lonnie
  17. When I apply textures to Windows, Doors and Stais they do not render. I just get white or gray Any thought? Lonnie
  18. Thanks for the scripts but when I use the Hide Class, I click the tool, the cursor changes to a small + and then I click on an object and the cursor turns into a hand momentarily but nothing happens Also, how do you create custom Tool buttons with new pictures Thanks
  19. Dave I have copied and pasted it a few times but to no avail. Can you give paste it in again and I will try that one? Thank you, Lonnie
  20. When I run Mathew's Hide Class script, I get the following error. Line #31: Run(HideObject); | { Error: Expected BEGIN } Any ideas? Thanks Lonnie lrafaela@aol.com
  21. John It is impossible to create symbols in the same class in Spotlight because no matter if the symbol was created on the Pipes Class and dropped on the Pipes Class -- Spotlight will share it with the None Class. The sheets thing is a solution but extremely labor intensive. As I am setting up standards on a school wide basis, I cannot tell a scenic designer to always place stock platforms on the class that I created it on and it is also labor intensive to go into symbol edit and change it to the class used in that specific drawing file. If it is not possible to do this now, can it at least be considered for the future. This is extremely prohibitive on any large scale projects, including the corporate artchitectural world. Can't a symbol just ignore what class it was created on, like it does with Layer? Thanks, Lonnie
  22. WORDS IN () = VECTORWORKS EQUIVALENT In Autocad, if a Block (symbol) is created on the '0' Layer (Class) and then inserted on a different Layer (Class), say Platform, it would be possible to do the equivalent of Classes "Active Only" and only have the 'Platform' layer (class) on and see it. The reason for this is that in Autocad, the '0' Layer is Transparent and takes on the attributes of whatever Layer (class) it is placed on. As the '0' Layer works very similar to the None Class in VW, it would be extremely useful to make the 'None' Class transparent as well. It is very useful when creating a library of symbols to create them all on the 'None' class, so they are consistent. The problem currently is that as soon as you insert that symbol onto a class other than the 'None' class, 'Active Only' on classes becomes obsolete. Once again, if the 'None' class could be transparent, then it would fix the problem. This problem is compounded by the fact that if you insert a Vectorworks Spotlight symbol (a symbol inserted using the Light, Accessory or Light Position button) no matter what class it was created on, it shares the symbol with the 'None' class. I believe this is a Bug, as I could not see a reason for it. Please let me know if it is possible to make the None class transparent. I am attempting to set up standards for Vectorworks on a Schoolwide basis at UCI and this problem is extremely detrimental. Thank you Lonnie
