  1. OK, I've fiddled with it a bit more; does it only work on stamps created after these scripts are added? That would be weird, but it also seems to be the case.
  2. I am so disappointed/irritated. What rationale exists for NNA to remove this _huge_ boon to users? It's not as if anyone is making $ by tweaking their scripts and selling them. And, since no VS for Dummies exists, my primary understanding of how VS works is through staring at NNA's scripts until they make sense (or I pass out). I'm simply incredulous. I expect this from Autodesk, not NNA.
  3. OK, I've got them in my File menu, but nothing happens. With either of them. What gives?
  4. I can't find any means fo automatically updating the Data in the Data Stamp tool (VW 9.5.2). I'm trying to st it up in our office templates, but it's useless if it had to be manually updated. I need it to follow all of the changes, every time I print or modify it. Am I missing something?
  5. I couldn't find duplicate along path, but now I see it. That works perfectly; thanks.
  6. If I'm not mistaken, MikeB' response misses the mark; I think the goal was to have the unlinked drawing still there, but editable. Is this what the original poster meant? If so, all I've figured out is copy/paste and/or Convert Copy to Lines(Polygons). Apologies if MikeB was right on...
  7. In VW 8.5.2, what is the best way to make a line with text attached to it (such as a gas line on a site plan, which would have "G" on it, every 15' or so)? Other programs simply have a Symbol Linetype, which I don't believe VW has; but is there a good workaround, or a plug-in? It seems to me that a plug-in tool would work, but I'm reluctant to write one if there's a better option. Thanks
  8. Thanks for the quick and accurate reply on my last question. Now: is there a way to get the property line to show up on the surface of the DTM?
  9. On 8.5.2, I'm attempting to generate a fairly straightforward DTM of a small but steep site from contours. With some fiddling, I got 3D polys as I want them, but when I attempt to create a DTM, it gives me errors for having overlapping & coinciding x,y coords. I believe that the program is unhappy with the 2 places where there are existing retaining walls, and the contours therefore follow the wall - one over top of the other. Is this, in fact, the problem? And if so, how do I resolve it?
  10. Oh, for cryin' out loud. It works. Thanks.
  11. I'm attaching data records to objects in a drawing, and have a number of boolean elements, but the ony way I can get them to be ture is by typing "true" Anything else (including "1") turns the statement false. I haven't used the boolean option for this before, but it's my understanding from the manual that 0=false and 1=true. It would be a lot easier to type "1" than to type "True"! Am I screwed up, or is VW? PS I need to work on this today, so a quick replay is greatly appreciated
  12. I'm trying to do a sun study for my building model, but I can't get any shadows. As usual, the manual is not much help. Do I need Renderworks to do shadows!? To clarify, I have a model, I set up the sun, and I can get different bnrightnesses on surfaces, but no shadows. The sun does me no good if I can't use it to design sunshades and see how shadows move across my building. Clients are coming at 4 pm, so please help ASAP.
  13. 18 mos. ago I was using VW8.5.1 on a PC, and had a very similar problem: specifically, flipping a door in a wall would often cause a crash. Sometimes I could flip it once or twice, but then the next flip would kill it. NNA's advice was to copy the file info to a new document. This more or less worked. Good luck. ------------------
  14. Is Noidge's advice for VW9 only? I'm trying it on VW8.5.1, and it doesn't seem to work.
  15. Somehow, the template from which I am working (created by a former employee) has a class, A-NOTE-TEXT, set as the default, such that many plug-in objects (windows, stairs) are created in that class as well as their native classes. For example: I set the Active Class to Windows-Main (VW's default window class). I draw a window. The window's Object Info claims that it is in Windows-Main, but the color & line weight are from A-NOTE-TEXT, and if I make that class invisible, the window disappears. It is similar to a Floor or Roof, which may be one class in model form, but when edited as a polygon, is in another class. Unlike these objects, I cannot edit the windows & stairs to change both classes to the appropriate one. I have lost control of both class visibility and line appearance! Please help!
  16. I have an existing building with windows that are being removed and filled in with walls. The windows are put on a "Demo" class, which is invisible; a new wall is put in the window opening. In plan this works perfectly; in wireframe view, this works perfectly. In rendered views (Hidden Line & Shaded), the windowsills stick out and the jamb outlines are visible; they are in an "invisible" class! What's going on? I really don't want to have to discard the window information just so that it won't appear in 3D views. ------------------
  17. I used VW for a year, then left it for a year, now I'm back. I need to produce sheets with 1st & 2nd floorplans on one sheet, and all 4 elevations on another sheet. I don't recall how to do this! It can't be difficult (most small projects layout like that), but I'm stumped! I know abt converting elevations to lines, but then I can't update them, so that doesn't work. Please help!
  18. But won't that un-link the elevs from the plans? I'm just setting up the document, and the design is far from complete; I want to be able to modify one model, and have those modifications appear in 7 drawings (plans & elevs) on 3 sheets, over several iterations over the next 3 weeks. What if I create the model in one document, then WGReference back to that model? Or will I be unable to move the WGRs?
