  1. When I try this with a piece of truss (made using truss tool) and some lights I get a message saying the operation failed "...because no supported objects were selected". Does this mean I cant use Auto Hybrid on truss and lights? I still think Plot & Model is really bad though so a working alternative is much needed.
  2. Thanks Mike...worked a treat and so much faster too.
  3. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. I am now try to create a ramp that has an increasing thickness from the end to the start and I just can't figure it out. I have included the wireframe of what I want so hopefully someone can help. I have drawn it as per the video above but have duplicated the top NURBS curves and placed them at floor level. I just can't figure out how to use the loft command to achieve the desired result.
  4. I believe that they are all in a single file; even though that file shows up as a download for multiple specific lights, it's the same file. -Josh As josh states, they are all in one zip file. It contains all symbols in VW versions 2008-2012.
  5. Update (Rev1_1) released to fix MAC III symbols not appearing correctly.
  6. Hi Teresa, I just checked it and all seems OK here in 2012 when I do a render and also just show Beam. Do you have a screen shot? Anyone else see this?
  7. Thanks Tamsin...lets hope they work ok :-)
  8. You will now find vectorworks symbols for all our moving head range and some of the LED display stuff. I will be adding to this all the time so please be patient if the symbol you need is not present. They are all in one document (2009-2012) to keep things simple. Every product that has had a symbol done for it will have a link to the file under the service and support area for that product. E.g. http://www.martin.com/service/service.asp?controllers=NONE&lights=mac101cld&accessories=NONE&category=ALL&dates=LATEST&searchtext=&submit=SEARCH%21&lasttime=&dofind=yes&support=Martin&subcontrollers%2F= Any questions or comments relating to these symbols should be sent to vectorworks@martin.dk I hope they help!

  10. I am using the Pen (Thick and Thin) mode and I still see the issue. I have tried changing the thickness and it makes no difference. J?rgen: I dont understand the part you mention about "adding a foreground Hidden Line render". Can you provide more details on how I achieve this please? I guess this bug relates to all Artistic Render modes???
  11. I'm afraid I can't answer that one but I am having a similar issue when rendering drapes. I have included a picture. What lines appear and don't appear on the drape seems to change depending on the exact camera angle. Does anyone else see this when using softgoods in Spotlight? Maybe I have my Render settings wrong??
  12. Hi all, I have created a symbol (lighting fixture) and I am having trouble with the 2D component and getting the fill to work correctly. I am guessing it is down to how I have created the 2D part but I dont know of an easy way to fix it. I have tried Combine into surface and it does not give the desired result. I have included the file where I have placed two lights on a truss. You can see the truss through the product and this is why I want the symbol to have a fill to it. The symbol showing the grey fills is my attempt at using the Combine into surface command. As you can see it does not really work. Can anyone help me with this please as I would rather not have to redraw the 2D component. Any help much appreciated!
  13. Hi all, I have created a video panel using the Landru VS4-LED plugin and I now need to rotate the panel about 25 Degrees in the front view. I cant seem to do it. I can only rotate in Top/Plan and that is not what I want to do. If this was a lighting fixture I could tick the 3D orientation box and do it that way (not exactly intuitive either I might add) but with this video panel I dont have that option. Am I missing something very basic? I need to be able to so show the rotated angle in the front view as I export the 3D file for use in a visualiser so doing a front view in Top/Plan is not an option. Any help appreciated.
  14. Hello. I am still new to VW and I cant figure out how to do something. I have tried but nothing seems to do what I need. I have a 3D platform I created from new and I need to cut some extrusions where they intersect with another extrusion. This is so I can delete the section between them. (see picture) The extrusions were made with a spline and a rectangle followed by an extrude along path command. The reason it was drawn this way was because this platform has a duplicate facing it that actually needs all the bits in place so I thought it would be easier to make the more complex one and then make a copy and then cut and delete the sections I dont need. Hopefully someone can help point me in the right direction. VW file is 2011. Thanks in advance.
  15. 3D files from the Martin website here: Martin Support - MAC 101 Drawings They are a bit line heavy as they are from the manufacturing drawings. I currently use the ESP vision 3 symbols. They have a MAC 101 in there. I have included a VW drawing with both the ESP 101 symbols in it. Hope it helps.
  16. So SP3 fixed this but I still see some odd behaviour and dont know if it is normal or not as I am very new to VW. The Space Navigator works as expected in TOP/PLAN view but when in any other 2D view any movement of the Navigator turns the view to a custom 3D view. This is really annoying as I want to be able to zoom in and pan around my 2D views. Another thing that is odd is that in the Isometric views I cannot zoom in/out or pan using the navigator. I have been through the set up of the space navigator and all seems correct so I dont know what do do. Any help would be much appreciated.
  17. I have the exact same issue. I am running the same setup as you too. I know that does not help you, but at least you are not alone
  18. Thanks bcd! At least I know I am not going crazy now. This behaviour does seem a little odd to me though. I realise that people will want to include objects in the templates they create but I know I will end up adding classes and layers the more I progress and to update my template I will then have to delete any thing I currently have in that drawing....or "save as" then delete all objects then "save as template" and then go back to my original drawing. I guess I wont be adding to my template forever though so maybe it is just in these early stages that I will find it a little frustrating. Maybe it would be nice for an option in "save as template" to either include or not include any objects in your drawing. Thanks again for your help.
  19. I seem to be having trouble with templates. I am in the process of creating a new one I intend to work from with every new drawing I do. The problem I am having is that when I "save as template" it seems to be saving any objects that are in the current drawing too. Reading the user guide it states: "Save a drawing file as a template to use it as a foundation for new files. Templates save layers, classes, title blocks, sheet borders, resources, and the current settings for attributes and units." The way I read this is that no objects should be saved with the template file. Am I missing something very obvious? Any help much appreciated as I am just starting to learn VW.
  20. I just purchased VW Spotlight 2011 and I am trying to get my Space Navigator to work too with no luck. I thought it was supported and when I could not get it to work I came across this post. It will be a great shame if this is not fixed as it is a device that once you start using is difficult to live without when doing any sort of 2D/3D work.
