  1. Mike, Appreciate your comments, thanks. My issue is that some hatches are scaling properly and some are not. If you look at image 5 you can see exactly what I mean. Its the same view port, you can see that there are three hatches scaling correctly and one that is not. They are all draw in exactly the same manner and on the same design layer. I checked and the design layers are at 1:50 which is the scale we are plotting them at, however the details are plotted at 1:5 and taken from the section design layers which are at 1:50. Is this the problem? Does this mean I have to create a second design layer scaled at 1:5 which has exactly the same drawing as the 1:50 section? Also, where would I check that my hatches are set to 'world view'? Thanks again. Alberto
  2. Hi everyone, Let me start by saying that i'm fairly new at this Vectorworks stuff . . . . i've been a ACAD man most of my professional life but recently changed offices and now i'm using Vectorworks. We are using Vectorworks 2009. Ill try to explain whats happening, I think i'm having an issue with hatches not scaling properly. I've drawn a series of drawings in model space [or whatever its called in VW!]. Same as i've always done. They are at 1:1. [see image 1] I then go to paperspace [or whatever its called in VW!] 1:100 sections and the hatch scaling works the way its supposed to. [see image 2] Then I go to 1:5 details and the hatch is all screwed up [see image 3]. One of the hatches is much more dense than the other making the PDF plot very large and in the hard copy print the hatch is coming out as a light grey fill. I've done the following to attempt to correct the error [none of these worked]; 1. Using the eyedropper tool [see image 4 for settings] tried to match properties with a hatch that is working. 2. Deleted the 2d polygon and redrew it from scratch then using the eyedropper tool tried to match properties with a hatch that is working. 3. Copied a 2d polygon that was working and then 'reshaped' it to the shape of the slab. This didn't work either. It did while it was still exactly the same shape as the previously copied one [see image 5], but as soon as I reshaped it, it no longer worked. 4. Copied a 2d polygon that was working and then scaled it up, copied it again until I had a number of these shapes all working correctly. Combined them to make them into the one 2d polygon. So im hoping someone can tell me what it is i'm doing wrong because its driving me crazy. . . . . . or is it just a vectorworks bug?? Thanks Alberto
  3. Sorry, my bad . . . . . we are using 2009 Vector Works - are you able to do it in this version . . . .
  4. Thanks guys, Sorry, total newb here. The attribute mapping tool is not giving me the "box" you say would appear . . . . Anything I move moves the entire hatch but nothing within. Any suggestions to what I may be doing wrong? Thanks again!
  5. jmh, I am another recent convert from ACad all my professional life to now using Vectorworks - I am also finding it very frustrating at times. I have to say that so far, if I could combine elements from the latest ACad and the latest Vectorworks then we would have the ideal program - but thats probably not for this post to discuss. I think the most important advice I can give you is to tell them that they need to stop comparing the two, as the work flow is very different and invariably their work rate will be much slower and frustrating at times [new program, so not unexpected right?]. In the beginning all I did was compare and that didn't help my learning because ultimately I couldn't get out of the - ACAD was better - mindset - which is going to happen when you suddenly are unable to use the program you have been using for 10+ years. Good luck!
  6. Hi everyone, I was wondering if there is a way to tell Vectorworks the origin point for a hatch? For example, I have a 300 x 300 tile hatch but currently I am not sure how it decides where to start the hatch. On Acad you are able to tell it to start the hatch from a point [click] - you then have an accurate representation of where the tiles will actually be. Thanks in advance for your help. Alberto
  7. Doh! Thanks, In my defense [lol], Wasn't in the office toolset or something . . . . . nobody had needed it before me . . . . . Thanks again
  8. Hi everyone, Im a recent vectorworks convert - changed offices; been using ACAD for 15+ years . . . . . . As per the subject - how do I draw an ellipse in vectorworks? Thanks
