  1. Bcd, thanks, looks like it's the "make all attributes by class" that swings it but it works! many thanks again. Matt
  2. Alan, thanks again but I think we are still a bit away from the answer. In your file the shape is now a roof face. I can do roof faces in my models ok. I really need to talk specifically about hardscapes. In terms of the original polygon being in a particular class, I take your point but that wasn't the case in 2015 and I have tried doing that in this file and it definitely does not work if it is a hardscape. It looks like I need someone with Landmark to try this with hardscapes. Anyone? Jim? Cheers, Matt
  3. Alan, thanks for the response but I have tried all your suggestions and I still just get wire frame in 3D. Could you post your VW file to show what you mean? Cheers, Matt
  4. I have just hit a big problem with hardscapes in VW 2016. I cannot get them to render in 3D if I have used one of my templates that VW 2016 migrated for me. It does work if I start from scratch but then that's a waste of all the work to set up the templates.. I attach a PDF of what I am talking about and the Vectorworks 2016 file as well. I really need this to work as I use hardscapes to calculate quantities of soil and paving in reports. Extrudes look ok in 3D but have no 2D representation and do not work in the reports.... Anyone help? Cheers, Matt
  5. Zoomer, Really not sure what you mean by that. You can't set the Renderworks background just for OpenGl anywhere, you just set it for all render modes. At least you do on my version of Vectorworks (2016 Landmark) I set the Renderworks background to an HDRI sky with no horizon and then just rendered it in OpenGl and Custom Renderworks. These are the images in my previous post. I changed nothing except the render mode from OpenGl to Custom Renderworks. To be completely clear, if you have a command for setting a background for just OpenGl, as opposed to all other Renderworks modes, I would be very interested to know where it is because I have never found it....? Matt ps and yes the command I used for the Renderworks Background is under the View menu
  6. Ok here are a couple of picture of what I mean: First is a basic scene with an HDRI background with no horizon rendered in Custom Renderworks. It is one of the standard VW HDRI backgrounds. And second is the same scene rendered in OpenGL To be clear, Custom Renderworks is showing the correct background and OpenGl is not. Matt
  7. I was interested to read that OpenGl would now use the HDRI backgrounds that Renderworks has been using for years. It does appear, however, that if you pick any of the VW default HDRI backgrounds OpenGl just puts the physical background in. Main problem with this is the horizon is very prominent. I have been using backgrounds with no horizon to get round this. Interestingly this does not apply to third party HDRI backgrounds which all seem to work perfectly. Any ideas? Matt
  8. Dave, This is adding a not inconsiderable overhead to my renderings. Is there any way I can either a) turn the "Edges" pass off when I am rendering a viewport b) find and delete all unfilled objects so that there is nothing for the "Edges" pass to do? As far as I know all my objects are filled with textures so I would be quite happy to delete all unfilled objects because they should not be there. In spite of this VW 2016 still does this dratted "Edges" run on every Viewport render.... What exactly is your definition of an "object with no fill" just to make sure we are talking about the same thing..? Matt
  9. Jim, I just did what you asked and it still rendered Edges in a clean 2016 file. There are no Render Styles in the file so there is no access to the Edges tab.. ?
  10. And in 2015 it didn't go through an "Edges" phase, just when it is imported into 2016
  11. Sorry, I don't mean to repeat myself but I really cannot find this mysterious tab with "Edges" on. You have very accurately described the problem with the renders but my real problem is where this "Edges" tab is. I am not using a Render Style and there are none saved in my file. I am manually setting up the lighting and render settings and there is no "Edges" tab that I can see. Could someone please show me how to find it in a Viewport and non Viewport environment because I am totally lost.....? To be clear, I am not using a foreground render or OpenGl or a Render Style. This is the panel I see when I want to change the render settings, no "Edges" tab anywhere... yours in quiet desperation, Matt
  12. And to be completely clear, "Draw Edges" in the OpenGl render settings is not checked and there is no foreground render
  13. Edges tab? Where is that? I just checked a render that was set to FQR and it did the same. took another minute too. I apologise if I am being a bit slow here but the only render mode that I know has an "edges" setting is OpenGl and I am not using that. Yours in confusion, Matt
  14. When I import a few files from VW 2015 and update the viewports which are on mid level Custom Renderworks settings it re renders in roughly the same time as before. After this it goes through a completely new cycle that says "edges" while the blue bar in the bottom right moves across. On some renders this can take minutes. What is this and can I turn it off? Matt
  15. Aha, they seem to be in a hidden directory. The one you mention above is where all the Vectorworks libraries are installed that you download when you install Vectorworks and before the migration begins. The migrated ones are actually in Users/Libraries/application support/Vectorworks/2016/Libraries/Defaults Any reason why or is this just on my machine? Matt
  16. Ah well this is the point. I cannot see all the templates in the directory you mentioned but they show up when I set up a new file in VW 2016..? Where are they? Matt ps in fact nothing seems to be where I thought it would be. The plants I have set up are not in the plants directory but the show up if I use the place plant tool...?
  17. I have installed Vectorworks 2016 and have migrated all my old templates and user data across which was a massive relief instead of looking at a day of copying stuff across. But, the copyright on the title blocks is set to 2015 and it won't change itself so I am going to have to update them Where does Vectorworks 2016 store all the migrated data as I do not know which templates to update? Normally I would wait until SP1 or two and delete the previous version to release some space but it looks like it is referring directly to the user folders on my 2015 installation so I can't do this. Anyone help? Thanks, Matt
  18. Just tested this again and it is still stuck on 12 cameras. Any updates as to when this will finally be fixed? Matt
  19. I saw a post on the Landmark forum by rDesign about a 3D model of an Agapanthus by a company called QED Plants. I had a look at the You Tube channel and there are quite a few others. They really do seem to be true 3D and not image props, the latest video of all the plants throws the camera all over the place just to prove it. Anyone tried them out? Matt ps here is a link to the You Tube channel QED Plants
  20. Hmm, we are now on SP2 and this is still stuck on a maximum of 12 cameras. Any news when this will be fixed..? Thanks, Matt.
  21. Benson, Many thanks for the detailed response. I had no idea that some presets were chopping off margins. What is the point of that? I just set it to borderless and everything was fine. Phew... Matt
