  1. Thanks... Await the changes... I'd prefer the ability to have control over both instances separately. Show shim in plan, but not in elevation, and vice versa, as opposed to showing shim for everything or nothing.
  2. Sigh... Not a find I am proud of! "Show Shim Gap" shows the shim gap in plan view... File the bug and hopefully next SP will rectify the issue... Annoying annoying annoying!
  3. Alright!!! Maybe it's in front of me and I can't see it... But I think it's best I ask now before pulling my hair out! Having a look at VW2012 and some of it's new features, and although I am relatively impressed with some of the changes in the door and window plug-ins, I have found (and hopefully I am missing something) that the space for the shim gap can be seen in elevations. Although this has been partially on my wish list in order to snap to the rough opening in elevational views, I would prefer NOT TO SEE the actual gap in the views. Hopefully it's just a setting that can be turned on and off, and not how it is MEANT to be! I have attached visuals if you are wondering what I'm on about! Awaiting your responses...
  4. Hi... Also... When editing these in a document (at least in VW2011), ensure that you are either on a 1:1 scaled design layer, or a sheet layer at the time of edit. It is not advised that you edit the symbol(s) whilst on a scaled layer as you may get some unexpected results. :-)
  5. Hi... Check and make sure that you are not in 'Black and White' mode. Check: 'Display' tab in 'Document Preferences', and uncheck (if it's checked) 'Black and White Only' Let us know if this is it...
  6. Hi... Dunno if this would work, but try this... Go to the system on which you wish to remove VW, and open the app. Navigate to: Vectorworks > Preferences... and click on the 'Sessions' tab, and then the 'Serial Numbers...' button. Remove the serial number from here, and thereafter install, and (re)activate VW on the other system (If it allows you to). You should now have VW installed on 3 systems, but only working on one (through one serial). You can therefore remove the non-working VW if you so desire... I believe it should work, but I have never tried it myself to confirm... Let us know if this helps...
  7. Hi... CHECK... not just SELECTED... You should see the little 'tick' to the left of the design layer name... Never used the tool... but that should be the issue...
  8. Hi... Had a similar issue to that one a while back in VW2010. About a year ago in fact!... The cause of mine seemed to be having a door with a '0' width. I was using side lights, but made the door width '0'... and menu was all grayed out (can't save or even quit, I don't think!)! By force quitting VW, it all seemed to come back, but whenever I access the same door again, it reverted back to the 'grayed-out' state. Dunno though... your's could be something else! This was just my experience!
  9. Hi... I believe you would need to 'Compose' them to create a single polyline (path). I am sure you can select them both separately with your method... Hence 2 separate paths.
  10. At the moment... YES!... weather is bright and HOT. Could probably do with a little snow. But of late (Past week or 2) we've had some heavy showers, bringing with it a slight coolness! That's as close as we would get to SNOW! And yes... problem solving in VW can (sometimes) be fun...
  11. I can confirm that it works in VW2010, both the duplication way as well as 'Link Record to Text' method.
  12. I have also tried it by duplicating the existing field (eg. client name field), and moving it to another location. This was done on a custom title block, and it works seamlessly. If it does not work for you... maybe it is a version issue... I am using VW2011, and it seems that Bryan is using VW2012. Your latest version (from what I understand) is VW2010... will try it on that to see what results I get...
  13. Hi... havent tried it myself, to see why your method isn't working. However, a possible work around would be to have 2 separate title blocks... One on the other. With one showing the info you want at the top, and the other at the bottom. Just an idea...
  14. I believe it can be done in VW2012 through the door settings (or so I have read). Previous versions: not available through door settings. There is a plug-in named 'Windoor' that I have heard of that may do it, but I usually create door symbols to do something of the sort. As far as I know, these are the only solutions for this...
  15. Hi... Can you send an example VW file for me to look at? I may be able to find the problem. Thanks
  16. Hi... Also; By using the VP to get to the DL, you have the option of showing the VP attributes in the DL, as opposed to the documents current attributes (visibilities of layers, classes, render modes, orientation, view, etc)... so, it's more than JUST a shortcut! Remember though... have Return to VP checked, or you may have stuff turned on/off, which you don't want/want to see. This is sometimes a pain to get back to your preferred visibilities of layers/classes in DL mode.
  17. Interesting find... Also... If the origin and page is moved, you get the same result only at the ORIGINAL origin, and not at the new 0,0... weird one that!
  18. A restart... but of course... That solves so much stuff! Although, there was no need to do that in 2011...
  19. LOL... Yes, that is funny... I tried another example to ensure I was doing it right before my previous post, and I used the SAME script. And it worked... I am now wondering if it could be a VW2012 thing. I am still using VW2011 by the way. So, you have the 'peaked' wall selected before running the command?... I can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't work... Yikes!
  20. Interesting... I guess the next step is to see what type of Plug-in it is... It seems as though you are doing the right thing as I have created them from scripts in the past and the only different thing I do is adjust the properties and category of the Plug-ins. Do us a fave, and paste the script here with a small description of what it does. I will attempt to create it on my end.
  21. Hi... Care to explain your process exactly so we have an idea of where you can be making a mistake?
  22. Specific walls... Select the wall you want to adjust and run command... Unfortunately, it only does single walls... But it sure beats redrawing a wall all over again.
  23. Hi... Got a script for that sir! Made it into a plug-in for convenience... you could do the same... Here it is... PROCEDURE RemoveWallPeaksProc; VAR WallZ : REAL; WallDZ : REAL; BEGIN GetLayerElevation(GetLayer(FSActLayer), WallZ, WallDZ); WallDZ := WallDZ / (25.4 / GetPrefReal(152)); ClearWallPeaks(FSActLayer); HWallHeight(FSActLayer, WallDZ, WallDZ ); ResetObject(FSActLayer); END; RUN(RemoveWallPeaksProc); :-) ENJOY! Edit: Just so you know though; they make the wall horizontal, but at the Delta Z that the Design Layer is set to. So, if for some reason you have it set to 0, do not be surprised. Oh... Just select the wall and run the command/script...
