  1. Thank you very much Pat... Some hope at the end of the tunnel; it's just a matter of getting there now. This is of course, the PDF export query... What about the current revision field? Would a major script be needed for THAT as well, or is there something that I can place as a record field similar to ':rNo', but for JUST the current revision? And of course my 3rd query on the date format... Do you have any LIGHT which you can shed on that? Thanks again for your reply...
  2. Ouch... Really? Here is the page I was on about... http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=30279&Number=152367#Post152367 I thought that a script to do these (1 & 2) would not be that difficult. 3 may just be some type of setting.
  3. Hello, 3 queries... 1. This has already been asked for in a previous page, but there was no link to a solution; I would basically like a way to export PDFs and add the current revision to the file name, just as the sheet number and sheet title does automatically. They had mentioned there that it may be possible through a vectorscript, so would appreciate it if anyone can assist in that department as i know nothing about VS. 2. I have created a custom title block with custom revisions. Our blocks also have the current revision number in a box in the bottom right corner. Is there any way that I can automate this, so that the CURRENT revision is automatically shown here? 3. Is it possible to change the default format for the date in VW 2011? The 'Add Revision dialog' has the current date as default, but the format is different to what we use. eg. Default - 2/21/2011, Desired - 21 Feb '11 Thank you... Awaiting reply
  4. Hello, I too would be interested in a way in which a revision can be added to the PDF export. I'm hoping someone has found the script or created one, and has forgotten to link it here. (I know nothing about VS) Also, on the topic of revisions... I have created a custom title block with custom revisions. Our blocks also have the current revision number in a box in the bottom left corner. Is there any way that I can automate this, so that the current revision is automatically shown here? Thank you... Awaiting reply
  5. I figured you were gonna say that... The office is accustomed to using the print function and the Save as PDF function, as opposed to the export PDF option. I apologize if it seems that I am being difficult, but I wish for a solution which is the LEAST complicated for each user (if possible of course).
  6. bcd... How exactly would that accomplish what I am looking for?
  7. Hi Pat, I'm usually always 'listening in' to your replies and vast knowledge, so let me first say that it is a privilege to reply to you. The idea of the PDF creation is to have a digital snapshot of the drawing at that particular time in the project. We do not normally have any issues with the hard copy not being identical to the PDF versions of the same (using the 'Save as PDF' function). The PDF creation has been the boss' desire for a while and as I have only recently joined the firm, I would like to increase productivity in any way possible. Actually I am currently in charge of setting up an office standard and ensuring that all users receive the same default settings etc. That's another issue all together and I am sure I will have questions in the near future about this. For now though, the reason I would have preferred using the 'Print' button to perform dual commands (i.e. print hard copy AND save a PDF/prompt to save a PDF), is because it has become a habit for persons to print through Vectorworks and (due to human nature) forget to save the PDF. I am also aware that this is not necessarily something that can be solved through VW, but I figured that maybe someone would have a workable answer to my needs. I am not yet that knowledgeable in Applescript or Automator, and would appreciate if someone can assist. I do not wish to complicate things either, in which case it may just be more efficient to drive the staff to NOT FORGET to save a PDF (of an issue) when printing it. What I wish to do, seems simple. But I guess it's not. ...sigh...
  8. Hi Ryan, Thanks for replying to my very first post on this resourceful community board. The issue I/we have is not printing PDFs. What I am trying to achieve is that when one prints a hard copy of a file, either a PDF (soft copy) is automatically created on clicking 'print' or there is a prompt to save as PDF (once the 'print' hard copy is executed). So in essence, when one prints a hard copy, they automatically also have a PDF version of it. This automation would ensure that PDFs are created (as is wanted by the boss), each time a hard copy print is made for an issue. The PDFs work as a snapshot of that particular drawing at that particular time. Is this possible? Thanks
  9. Hi there, To be honest, I am currently working on the custom title block thingy for my firm and am also learning as I go along . If I understand your query; you wish to have Revisions and Issue notes in a descending order as follows: Rev A - 15th Feb 2011 Rev B - 16th Feb 2011 Rev C - 17th Feb 2011 and so forth From what i know (although I have yet to try it), this is controlled by the vertical justification of your text string for the particular revision/issue data. Although the Left, Centre, and Right justification can be set to anything, in order to achieve what you wish, Justify each of the revision/issue strings (in your symbol) to TOP (as opposed to centre or bottom). This SHOULD then allow each new revision/issue to automatically appear below the previous one i.e. B below A etc. In the same way, if you set it to BOTTOM you would get something like this: Rev C - 17th Feb 2011 Rev B - 16th Feb 2011 Rev A - 15th Feb 2011 ...which is actually the way we do it in the office, and I plan to test this and complete my title block tomorrow morning. Hope that helps. Please let me know if it does/doesn't!
  10. Hi there, This may have been dealt with already, but I cannot seem to find it. Is it at all possible to have a document saved as PDF automatically on printing? or prompt to save as PDF when the print button is pressed? Maybe this may require some type of script. Please help with this if you can. I have almost no knowledge in creating scripts. Working on Snow Leopard, VW 2011. Thanks
