  1. Im hoping there is as I was really interested in this one. Ill sit tight and see if one shows by end of week. Thanks.
  2. I registered for this but was not able to attend. I recall these being sent via email after the presentation so that if you missed it you still could watch at a later date, but I have not seen one? Can this be found somewhere?
  3. going a bit further is there anyway to alter the marker on the simple leader line tool? So that a spefic marker can be shown? I know you can adjust it after the fact, Im talking about setting it up so that it displays every time a new leader is drawn?
  4. Strange, I didn't see Bensons response initially. Art can you confirm that it works in the way Benson describes? Seems to be the way I was approaching it, guess Ill give it a few more attempts and try to report back.
  5. Another neat trick is once the viewport is rendered you can do a copy(cmd v) and open Preview(on Mac) and paste from clipboard. It's a nice time saving work around, and you should still get the higher DPI setting when pasted into Preview.
  6. Alan you may be right. Im not convinced Its working correctly. I tried with various models with ranging success. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. Mine often did not line up like yours do. I was never able to get the polygon to define the selection either. However in a way isn't a "modifier" a polyline? We use the site model tools alot here, really would like to push this feature as far as possible. Im sure it can do more.
  7. Well it appears All along I was selecting the site model itself. Rather than the site modifier. So simple, yet not all that intuitive. My assumption was you would select the entire model.
  8. One more for good measure. You can see the section looks no different even with a 10% slope on the pad site modifier. I have in the past been able to get both existing and proposed contours to show. But it always seems to be inconsistent and buggy. You will notice that even tho existing and proposed are turned on in the site model, only existing is showing. Not proposed.
  9. So added another modifier which only sidetracked my efforts. I have struggled with this separate issue in the in the past, but why does the model not show existing and proposed contours together in 2D? I have applied the modifier to existing, and then trying to apply to proposed, and either way it never shows both proposed and existing on the same model. This doesn't even get into the fact that the section produced is no different regardless?
  10. I do have site modifiers. I have a pad and Im using the roadway nurbs to modify the road? The blue lines are the proposed contours. Also why does it not align in terms of scale? It literally is larger than my site model which makes no sense?
  11. I have proposed and existing in the model. There are new proposed contours on the roadway. However the section only generates the proposed. Even stranger is there is existing colored contour labels in the cut section behind the proposed txt, and the contour tags are no different? Must be something simple Im over looking.
  12. I was able to produce similar results. I had some questions as to how you choose your section cut line? The way I approached it was to use a polyline. It seemed to me that I was only getting the proposed. Even though the legend showed up for existing and proposed as your image does here. One thing I noticed in your results is that the projection of the section matches the plan. Mine often was much larger(yes on the same scale). This left me feeling as if I was not getting the correct results. Let me give it another go and see what I can produce.
  13. This is a feature Ive bee trying to make sense of. I placed an extruded square to act as the building, but it only shows a section of the model itself when I use the AEC>terrain>site model section.Maybe someone can shed some light on why I'm not seeing the building in the section?
  14. Any idea what is causing this? Doesnt operate this way on other machines or in previous versions. Even when on the active layer the scale is shown, but in light grey comparted to the other items.
  15. That is what I guess Im struggling with 2 data base rows. Im not really after any particular outcome, more so just trying to get a feel for basic counting within spaces. Tho Im sure I could see adding other items. It sounds Like the additional database row is what Im after. How do you add another? Create Report>amend to current report? Or right click and select Database on the row? I seem to be stumbling thru but making small progress here. I appreciate the assistance
  16. Im pretty close, but must not be getting this criteria in the right cell? If you notice in the criteria settings its is keeping count of the "lights" in the space, I have tested this while removing some and adding some to the space and the Objects that meet that criteria do compute in the criteria screen. However its not showing up in the works sheet. My guess is even tho I have the criteria correct by the looks of it, maybe I'm not applying it to the worksheet properly?
  17. Any chance you could post up a quick example file? Or be a bit more specific? Not really following beyond the Space name in the data tab.
  18. Im trying to dabble in my first test report. What Im trying to do, in it's simplest form is create a space from a poly, and then within that poly create a basic object such as a circle, and attach a record to it. I created a new record called "light" and attached it. Is there any way to label a space, and then create an object to be counted within that space(such as the circle with a new record called light attached to it? I have almost no experience with this workflow. While I can get the reports to show and generate some numbers, I feel I simply need to see how others would do this to get a feel for it. Maybe making my own record isn't the way? Im curious to see how some pro's would approach this type of simple schedule. I think once I see one in action it would make much more sense. There are so many options here and Im not quite sure what the difference is between criteria settings and the options you see when you create a report
  19. User error. Looks to be working now. Must have missed a line somewhere at the end. You guys are great. Pat your the man!
  20. FWIW i have pulled items in from there website via download from the site, a plugin would def be a plus. Please keep us posted if you happen to find this.
  21. What your saying makes perfect sense, and you are correct that often its just doesn't work well for a 2D workflow, which is OK. We at one point had a few sites that involved some architectural aesthetics work that did justify the 3D work flow you are referring to. However another person worked on it, and he left. When it was my time to work in the model it seemed that things were often done in a way that worked, but was inconsistent. So that is where the confusion comes in. I just think its something that as you break into it has some confusion and a relatively steep curve. VW seems to be working on providing that clarify more often these days tho, which is great!

  23. Donald Wardlaw basically covered the same workflow we use. We may have additional details, single line drawings, plan and elevation all on saved view with various scales. Everything is in 2d top plan in this workflow. If we operate in 3D the model is done in a DL and then we create a viewport on a SL. Tho I have experimented with drawings that have various connected viewports back to the model, these are often the files Im most confused on. Especially if that drawing wasn't created by me. Im often stuck trying to find out where things were annotated, how they are connected to what model, weather its referenced in from another file or internal. I typically can figure it out after a while, but I guess its the various ways you can go about it. I would really love to see more webinars showing a 3d model with the highest level of connected viewports of all kinds, sections included, and then watch how they are all intertwined and updated, along with more depth on how the set the desired views line wieghts and classes.
  24. So to better understand your workflow, 1. You use different Layer Scales at one time while drawing - in 2D only ? Yes > Could DL Scales maybe deactivated for 3D (only) completely ? Not sure can they? 2. For which purpose do you use a Layer Scale exactly in the Drawing Window, so outside of the SheetLayer VP's ? Yes. for every saved view we have several layers assigned to that view, each with different scales as needed. 3. Another thing beside Scale is Orientation. Do you use Design Layers in different orientations at the same time ? no Like one DL in Top Plan View while an other in Isometric or similar ?no 4. Do you use 2D Elements in "Screen Orientation" ? Always So working 2D in a 3D Space ? I guess if a design layer is considered 3d space, than yes. I still don't quite understand the new design layer viewport vs sheet layer viewport. It seems to me that previous versions only allowed sheet layer view ports, but if I remember correctly with 16 there are also new design layer viewports?? The other aspect I don't quite get is the reference methods available. We have always used referenced layers. Now you can reference a view port into the design layer of another file? It used to be you could not have a vp on the DL?? My depth of sheet layer views basically amounts to a rendering output to a sheet layer with a viewport for 1 simple item. So while i do understand some of the basics, at times it can become really confusing, especially for a new user.
