Brilliant! Thanks you so much - I wish I could buy a beer for everytime someone helped me with one of these niggly things. Now if I could only get rid of that annoying smart cursor cross hair thing - I think at one time I did talk to someone in support and was told I have to live with this thing - no way to get rid of it I have had 2013 for almost 4 years now and never used it largely because of this. I only used it to import newer .dwg files then export to V12 immediately

Thanks - I have the leader tool but it behaves differently than old one and I cant get the insertion point to stay at the end of line - it allways defaults to centre. End of day it now takes several more mouse clicks than it used to

Used to be so simple - Is there anyway to set it so that it works as before - 3 clicks and your done? Now I have to insert it as tho it is a symbol then adjust it PITFA Many thanks to anyones help - losing my mind and not getting any work done.

Am getting closer - Is there any to turn off the snap point indicator - (I run a black blackground)that is the white cross hairs that come up when in proximity to a snap point?

Thanks all for the help- the smart cursor settings helps a lot to clear the clutter and will follow up on the link from rdesign tomorrow am.

Cant seem to limp along release 12 any longer and I hate change. Have had 2013 for several years but always avoided switching over. The cursor in 2013 has several distracting icons popping up plus white cross hairs when close to end point etc - I find it all very distracting and annoying - I just want the pointer. I have everything switched off as per attached pic but still have all these reference lines, loci etc showing up. Any help is appreciated -

Great, thanks. I do know that with any version upgrade there are growing pains for the user, that is why I resist but now am out of options I guess. On a seperate but related note, I am thinking if I do need to go through this adjustment phase - perhaps I should start fresh and upgrade to 2016 so I dont have to go through this again in 2 years. I have contacted my local retailer to ask about costs - but I am curious about system requirements. Currently I run a macbook pro with the specs shown in the attached jpeg and on OSX 10.6.8. Can you advise if my current computer could run 2016 ok or is the fact it is already 5 years old necessitiate it be replaced? If I need to invest in more RAM, new OSX etc I am ok with that, jsut dont want to spend another 3k on a new laptop as well.

Wow, really? With all the fine tuning that has happened this is amazing to me. I paid to upgrade in, well, 2013 but never used it largely because that drove me nuts. Now I have to use it because I can no longer limp v12 along with OSX Snow leopard. I tend to fly along using CAD and this is a constant slow down for me. Does this thing persist through the current releases of VW? Thanks so much for your help. Mark

Thanks Jim - Funny, I belong to several online forums and the interfaces are a all bit different. Attached is my screenshot showing the white cross. When I first started using v2013 there were all kinds of things popping up cursor related which I have managed to tone down by going into "Interactive Appearance Settings" and making everything black, same as my background. This white cross drives my nuts, fingers crossed it is removable

Thnaks Tim Not the full screen - just the smaller white cross that appears as I hover over an object. I am aware of the interactive tab. The blips I refer to are not audio, rather the small dots that appear, presumably to indicate nearby lines or things. I dont know how to post a screen shot of what I am describing.

Hello I am new to the form, having used VW since v7 and am having couple growing pains as I adjust to 2013. Having lived through several upgrades over the years I do know that with some things 'it just takes time'. Nevertheless.... The cursor I find annoying - the white 'cross' and all the other blips etc I find distracting - any way to turn those off? A search of the forum didnt reveal anything to me. I know I am a dinosaur when it comes to using VW - I really only use it as a 2d pencil - all 3d is done in Sketchup. I will likely have more questions as things move along and any help is much appreciated

I have just switched to Mac from PC and am running release 12. In setting up my workspace in the editor, I am unable to select the control key as a modifier, only command. I have found using the command key as a modifier to be agonizing and unergonomic. I have found a way to switch command and control in my mac keyboard preferences but the problem is other software needs the control key such as sketchup. Is there anyway to set mac vectorworks to use control? Thanks in advance...

Just made the big move from PC to Mac (Mac Pro w/ 27" display) and am running release 12. The tool icons and view (sheets) menus are way small on the new display. I did find the thread about this issue and the consensus seemed to be to live with it and buy reading glasses, but what I really struggle with this the ability to move between my 'sheets' as the icon is very small and gets in the way of the dock at the bottom. If there is no way of enlarging this, is there a shortcut I can program or, in a perfect world set my right mouse button to open the sheets (or view) menu? BTW the use of the term 'view' is confusing me as it pertains to 'drawing sheets' and also the 'view' menu. FYI I draw like a dinosaur with the line tool all in 2d but have gotten so efficient at it I havent been motivated to use even the wall tool, but thats another issue entirely. Thanks in advance for any help.
