  1. Indeed, if you're talking about what's shown in the Display Criteria part of the dialogue, it's not affected by the Object Criteria either. (I think that's what you were referring to in the first place and I misinterpreted, though the response is essentially the same.) The list of values in the Display Criteria is affected only by the three drop-downs in that section. It'll list everything applicable in the file, and it's sort of disconnected from the Object Criteria portion of the dialogue. I was once able to wrap my head around why it was done this way, though I can't seem to put it into eloquent words right now. Something about the Data Vis being flexible enough for any scenario and combination of Object vs Display criteria... and for the DV to continue working as objects are added to the drawing (since it's sort of a "live" thing). I think it working this way is more applicable to scenarios where the Object Criteria is based on one thing and the Display criteria is based on a different thing (compared to your case where you're wanting the Object Criteria to be based on Class and the Display Criteria to also be based on class). I think there's a valid improvement to be considered where they should add a checkbox that filters the list of values to only those applicable to the Object Criteria that have been set. But there may be a technical reason why this wouldn't work which the programmers have already thought through. I know this has been brought up on the forums before but I can't recall the details.
  2. Look for this screen under Vectorworks Preferences:
  3. The criteria for Data Vis is only to set which objects the Data Vis will re-color. It does not control which objects are visible in the drawing, as you're wanting it to. (That being said, I can see how this would be useful. And I don't remember it ever working this way in the past.) I believe the only thing it can do in that regards is "Draw all other objects grayed" via the checkbox at the bottom of the dialog. For now you may have to turn off Classes or Layers to hide other things in your drawing. Other folks might have better ideas.
  4. Using two separate walls is definitely needed for flexibility and for ease of developing the design. Plus, the two flats aren't necessarily the same length as each other unlike my simple example. So using a single wall would quickly be a roadblock.
  5. This would be useful for Film & TV as well. When we want the appearance of thick wall, this often done with two 3" thick flats with a gap between that's bridged by the window jamb. Because a window can't exist within two wall objects, we need two windows objects for every one actual window. Here's an example showing how we achieve the appearance of an 18" thick wall:
  6. VW2024 always loads with my custom color palette active (or whatever palette was visible when I closed Vectorworks). You're saying that it resets to the Active Document Palette every single time you close and reopen the software? Are you on the latest service pack?
  7. After trying the Home Screen for a while I found it to be mostly useless, so I switched my VW Preferences so it never auto-appears Also, the way it flashes white for a second as it loads (I use dark mode) and then zooms to fill the screen is just annoying. It should just appear.
  8. To clarify what I think Bruce is saying: In this particular Viewport Class Properties pop-up, you must hit enter before any search results are shown, whereas in other places search boxes automatically begin showing the results as you type. There doesn't seem to be a clear reason for this inconsistency. This has been commented on several times since list search was implemented years ago, so I think it's about time to implement Bruce's suggestion - it's a good one! (Correct me if I'm wrong, Bruce, but you're not talking about the "Filters" dropdown at all, right? Just the immediate feedback of Searching...)
  9. Not me! 🙂 But I've seen this document too. Definitely from the forums.
  10. Brilliant. Thank you so much @Tobias Kern!! While the conversion process with that command doesn't seem to be 100% accurate, it's pretty dang close (and a million times easier than trying to create something from scratch with the Hatch Editor). Would definitely be used a lot if we had access to it in the States.
  11. Understood. I've modified the geometry to fit within a rectangular area that repeats. New file attached. There are four loci to snap to for the corners of the rectangle. shakes rectangle v2022.vwx
  12. Is there anyone who has the German version that'd be able to convert the linework in the attached drawing to a Hatch? shakes v2022.vwx
  13. Also check out this thread: The script in there is really great and works most of the time. I still want an official built-in way though.
  14. Nope. They've even completely revamped the UI in that time, but this wasn't addressed. The only change was that those four commands were moved to a new "hamburger" menu at the top of the Attributes Palette instead of it being a triangle flyout at the bottom of the palette. Sadly it's now closer to the "?" help button which I accidentally click about once a day. I'd still love to be able to assign a keyboard shortcut to the "Make All Attributes By Class" command since I use it dozens of times a day. All they'd have to do is add these four Attributes Palette commands to the regular menu system somewhere, in which case the existing workspace editor could be used to add a shortcut.
  15. @Domas – check out VB-187192 too if you haven't already. That bug describes Shaded mode ambient occlusion rendering differently depending on zoom level when you update the viewport. (Haven't double checked in 2024, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't been addressed). Just to be sure, one would expect that current zoom level should have zero affect on the results of a viewport render.
  16. Are textures visible in Viewer yet?
  17. I agree that’d be nice. But in the meantime, another things that works is once you marquee over the vertices, you can actually use the Move command (Cmd+M) to type in a value to move only the selected vertices.
  18. Thankfully you can use the eye dropper tool to transfer class overrides, but that doesn’t change the fact that you should be able to do it directly with a selection of multiple viewports, as a user would inherently expect. Plus, the eye dropper transfers all overrides, whereas a user might want a bit more control over changing individual classes.
  19. This would be a huge time-saver. I'd use it a ton to edit batches of textures.
  20. Try this: Go to the Resource Manager and find that Linetype. Right Click < Edit. Then uncheck the option that says "Scale with line thickness."
  21. I agree that it'd be nice to be able to anchor leaders from the top and/or bottom. When you say "also we can't have multiple have leader lines originating from both the left and from the right" – this is currently possible: or is this not what you mean?
