Hello, found this old post and wish to ask in regards to VW2011 - where is the option to add the formula? I have added a new column, but when I go to the window cell I cannot write any text (greyed out) let alone see anywhere to add a formula.

thanks. however, I have set up a workspace preference. this is what i select when I reset the palettes, but it's just annoying that they aren't locked because I accidentally grab and drag them.

Having problems with rendering objects - walls, roofs, extrudes etc. I wish to set textures via classes, but these objects remain white in Renderworks/OpenGL. I have to physically choose each object, via OIP set overall to class texture, and then select each part of the object to class texture. This is taking forever, and in some cases my roof/wall or extrude still remains white. Is there something I am missing?

The WinDoor 16 tool is causing a lot of frustration. It would be great if someone could shed some light on the following issues: (note I prefer to work in colour and set my sheet viewports up in black and white) Resetting attributes ? trying to change from colours to B&W but not all change, some objects are still coloured Can?t make lines dashed for trims/sashes etc. To indicate a window above? The window tool gives a "clerestory" option. Changing pens/classes the program crashes all the time. Change glazing to opaque and program crashes. I have some windows or doors, and some created with the WinDoor tool, as each gives certain settings that are practical or impractical. But as I have both, not all windows and doors show up on the schedule (despite being selected to do so). Also the ID text and box is hard to match between both. Why isn't there just one tool with all the options?

I'm forever having to reset my workspace because I accidentally drag out the palettes. Is there a setting to lock the palettes location and size?

Hi, this method is not working, the diamond is not able to be dragged. Also would like to know why all my windows and windoors don't show up on the window schedule when they are all set too.

I would like to know, if anyone can help, or if this is to be rectified in future. I have set my grid to 1mm, and I draw, whenever possible, in straight lines or whole degrees, and snap to these points. Why then, when I zoom in on any spot do I find that my points haven't lined up (eg, wall edge to wall edge) and that my drawing can be 0.72, 0.11 etc out? Should it not always snap to the 1mm grid? THis is very frustrating as it means I cannot get accurate dimensions, and I do not like rounding off.

mivc, this doesn't work for me, but I've found that if I copy and paste all attributes from a section line that is all visible it comes up. But for some reason the section line attributes & instances keep changing, which is annoying to keep changing back. Maybe it's something to do with changing the section viewport settings, but why would it change the instances?

Coming from an Autocad background here... Symbols are imported or created using class None. Symbols inserted in different classes and I want them to take on that classes pen/fill/etc - for eg Furniture, Plumbing, Electrical. Any way to do this that doesn't involve opening up the symbol and changing all it's objects to that class?

Thanks for the support here, but none of these suggestions help. I type in something like "symbol +class" and I get 1505 results starting with the latest post (usually several from the same day) of which the first couple of pages have nothing with this information in the post... and then I can't be bothered scrolling through the rest. Really hard to find any answers, so do I post all of my concerns and some hardworking person will repeat the answers for me?

Having the same problem. All the time, won't let me change fills or lines for all kinds of objects, from/to class style or any other type (solid/none/hatch)

I have created a door schedule the same as I have created a window schedule, however the door numbers are in no particular order. How can I get them to run in numerical order the way the window schedule does? Some help please

Thanks, but still a problem. I've changed the attributes before, when it let me (sometime it won't let me change things). Only some of the marker shows up, text is missing on some, on another there is text but no marker. they have the same attributes with a pen thickness and solid fill.

I've created some section viewports and set up the markers. Now they have either disappeared, or the text has or the marker has. I created them in top/plan. It has nothing to do with Section Line Instances, I have turned all these on. I have turned on all classes & layers and still nothing. any suggestions would be great

I have entered into the forum search about 50 different issues I have come across, after consulting the help command and the tutorial books given to us. I try to use the language of the program as best I know how. In every instance I type in something simple and am given 2000 results. Searching through the first 25 entries, none are helpful in any way and totally irrelavant. This still occurs with an advanced help Do you suggest I set up a post for every issue I come across? what I am saying is there should be a better search filter and help should have a troubleshooting option.

It was the layer name conflict, and I'm annoyed that this sort of thing cannot be found in the help menu. Learning VW I have a list of about 100 issues, including these sort of "blocks" and both help and the forum's have been totally inadequate in assisting. For our workplace we have 2 hours of support time included, but my list of issues goes way beyond 2 hours. Could there be a better help file or a better filtering system in this forum?

I'm learning Vectorworks and have trouble finding answers to problems I encounter. Help does not have a troubleshooting options and this forum has been unable to solve a lot of my concerns. I have created doors, but the program won't let me create windows?
