  1. Is there any point at all in Vectorworks? All these glaring inadequacies, reported back over 17 years, and they're still not sorted. What a joke.
  2. I also have this problem, running VW 2017, SP5, on Windows 11. If I have multiple files open, e.g. to copy something from one drawing to another, after navigating to the second file to copy the item, I then cannot navigate back to the original file without first closing the second one I opened. Very frustrating, but it's not as if I expect it's something that Vectoworks will ever fix.
  3. I have a problem with this function. I have a rectangle in place that I want to re-size. Interactive Scaling mode is on, but no grips appear on the rectangle. If I right-click over the rectangle, select "Create Similar Object", and create another rectangle, that rectangle does have grips that appear when it is selected. Any ideas what's happening? FYI, I'm using 2017, SP5.
  4. Jim, Thanks, man. You're a lifesaver, that was driving me nuts. Malcolm
  5. Hi there, We have Vectorworks 2010 running on two machines in our office, one on Mac OS and one on Windows 7 (don't ask...). The Mac OS version has an option to import PDF's, however this doesn't seem to exist on the Windows 7 version. How do I import a PDF into the 2010 on Windows 7? Many thanks for any help
  6. Thanks, guys. I'll have a go at re-importing it into a clean file, see if that does the trick.
  7. I've imported a PDF cabinetry layout into my drawing to trace over. The Vectorworks cursor can detect all the various grips/ midpoints/ centrepoints of the PDF I've imported, however they're all uniformly offset/ shifted from the PDF "image". Does anyone know of a way I can justify the grips to line through with the image? Is there something I've done when I've imported it? I'm using Vectorworks 2010, SP4 - Fundamentals/ Architect.
  8. Doh! So simple when you pointed it out. Thanks v.much for your help, greatly appreciated!
  9. Hi Michael, My Mac is running OS X 10.6.8. I've attached a stripped down file containing the problematic drawing sheet - the problem only occurs when I try to edit any groups I've created within the Viewport - I've grouped the light-fittings, switch routes and sockets for each room or circuit together for ease of editing. Whenever I click into one of these groups, the vast majority of the sub-groups contained within them are unselectable (bizarrely, some groups, particularly the square recessed light fittings in the bottom-left room, can still be selected and edited). An example - click into the viewport on the drawing sheet and select one of the two groups which contain the large rectangular LED circuits in the central space. If you then click into the sub-group, you will notice that you cannot select the individual spotlight sub-groups. Also, with regards to the LED circuits themselves, if you click into this sub-group, only the dotted line is selectable while the enclosing solid lines are not. If the enclosing groups are exploded, the previously unselectable objects can now be edited. It's mystified us here in the office. We've tried opening the model on a PC running a Windows version of Vectorworks, and it's exactly the same problem. I've been using Vectorworks for about 3 years, and I've never come across this before. Cheers, Malcolm
  10. Did I post this in the wrong place or something?
  11. I have a drawing where I can no longer select nested groups within another group. Also, some polylines can no longer be selected. It's only the one drawing where I'm having this problem - have I switched something on or off, or has my drawing been corrupted somehow? Any help or advice gratefully received, 'cos it's doing ma heid in!* FYI, I am using VW 2010 SP4 on a Mac. *colloquialism - Edit - Also just discovered with this drawing that right-clicking on an object and selecting "activate class" does not actually activate the class. Seems to me the drawing's corrupted, no?
  12. Pat, Thanks for the reply. I hadn't changed anything, first time I'd worked on a drawing on the new release of Vectorworks. I do have a new monitor, so it could be that I need to turn up the contrast on the screen to see the sheet extents. Cheers, Malcolm
  13. I've just got 2011 (PC) - one thing which is bugging me is when I switch to a sheet layer view - I cannot see the edge of the sheet area. Is there a way I can change the sheet layer display settings to make this edge clearer? Many thanks.
  14. Seems to have fixed itself, for now. Don't know what I did...
  15. Hi, first time poster here. I have no idea why, but the option to "save file as PDF" has just disappeared from the drop down print menu in Vectorworks. It's still there if I try to print something in any other application, just not Vectorworks. Has this happened to anyone else? Will it come back by itself? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
