  1. I'm not using image effects. Computer is new as of last spring, if I recall correctly. iMac 18,3 model iMac Retina 5K 27", 2017. . . 4.2 GHz Intel Core i7. . . 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM. . . . Radeon Pro 580 8192 MB Graphics Card. . .
  2. I'm using a Mac, High Sierra 10.13.6, 4.2 GHz Intel Core i7; 32GM 2400MHz DDR4 RAM, with a Radeon Pro 580 8192 MB Graphics card. No camera effects. Just render a viewport, then it immediately goes black after the render is complete. Typically, I can copy the black viewport, re-render the new one and delete the old. More often, I've had to create an entirely new viewport because no copying of the "bad" viewport will render correctly. Rebooting, changing caches, only VW open, nothing seems to fix it. It is sporadic and still a problem.
  3. I'm still having this issue in VW 2019 Service Pack 3!
  4. Kevin, you're so right! Waiting nearly 20 minutes to update a window schedule is absurd. And a 500MB file should not take 3-4 minutes to save or ro regenerate a section viewport. -Carol
  5. I've only been able to open worksheets on sheet layers. Not in viewports, but directly ON the sheet layer. Totally annoying -- I have to basically reload them on a sheet every time I want to edit something. Good luck!
  6. I've gone through a ton of work to create styled walls for a complex renovation. After tagging an area of styled walls with the ID TAG, all is well. . . .until I move the tag, copy the area to the next floor up, or try to create a symbol of the tagged walls to copy to another area of the building. Tags look normal but do not update when the style walled is replaced with another styled wall. My walls are color coded, so I can tell immediately if a 1 hr tag is on a non-rated wall -- and they're ALL messed up! Assuming I can get this resolved ASAP, should the tags in the bathroom of a hotel, for example, be located on the screen plane or the "symbol"? I can't seem to edit them if I change them to "symbol", but I'm more concerned about having to tag every single wall and never moving the tag to make it stay "smart". Any help with wall id tags would be appreciated. Thank you! -Carol
  7. This is quite ridiculous that this is STILL a problem! We use BG's solution of window tags on separate classes. It just happened to me with doors, too.
  8. Is there a setting or workflow that would allow faster editing in the Window Schedule? It seems that I add a manufacturer's name to Tag A. . . wait 5 seconds. . . then am able to add the same name to Tag B. Why is there such a long wait? Should global window changes be made by selecting the windows in the drawing? (OK, maybe I answered part of my own question. . . but the lag time is terrible when editing ANYTHING in the window schedule!)
  9. I am replicating the problem in a clean 2016 VW file with a typical stair (not the old Custom Stair) tool.
  10. JimW, any thoughts on your end? If it is the old "Custom Stair" that is a problem, is there any hope of getting an update to just that macro? Thanks, Alan, I'm not going CRAZY, just getting mad. :-)
  11. AHA! Well, you don't get that if you turn the 2D plan off. . . .THANKS! I love it when it is just "user error". That's the easiest to fix! -Carol
  12. That's the problem. I have a 90% set of residential CD's that I have converted to 2016. I'm having a lot of trouble with editing anything that ties to story heights, like structural columns and the stairs simply vanish. I can see that it works in your file--maybe it is a translation issue--but I'm hoping it is something I'm doing wrong so that I can at least fix it! The only reason I'm changing story heights so late in the game is for value engineering--but it should still be able to be done. Thanks for your help! -Carol
  13. I use the old-fashioned "custom stair" tool in all of my files. Since upgrading to VW16, SP2, any edit to the stair causes it to disappear. Not just invisible type disappear - simply vanish into the ether(net). And when trying to edit a story height, I get a warning that the "structure must be set to greater than zero". Given that the project is just 90' above sea level, everything is greater than zero. The computer churns for a while then seems to accept my change in story height. My biggest concern is the custom stair. I can easily work around the story height changes, but the custom stair is like oxygen to me! Thanks for any help! -Carol OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 iMac, Retina 5K, 4GHz i7 w/ 16GB 1600 MHz DDR AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096MB
  14. In my model of a new house, I can use wall framer to illustrate the stud and framing layout, recognizing that I still need to update the header sizes. The worksheet generates a LOOOOONG list of "frames", each assigned a number. But how do I know which wall is "frame 64"? Any advice on this entire framer topic is welcome! Thanks so much! -Carol
  15. When rendering a viewport, there should be a timer to let you know how long the render is expected to take. The first five minutes all look the same - but whether you're requesting a ten minute render or a 2 hour render should be noted IMMEDIATELY.
  16. I usually bail on the standard stair and create a new "custom stair". It sucks to have to transfer all of the information, but it is the only way I've been able to do what you're trying to do. Good luck!
  17. I would love to have a timer showing "remaining time to render" in Renderworks. It would answer the question, "Do I wait for this viewport rendering to finish at final quality or do I bail now because it will take 20 minutes?" It would also help us decide which rendering settings require the most rendering time without wasting our time trying them all out (only to be disappointed and suddenly behind schedule).
  18. Neil, I was able to program my Spacemouse to shift+c on one button (3D navigate) and it made VW very angry, thinking for multiple seconds only to then require using a standard mouse to orbit around. I've given up on trying to program a button, for now. I cannot seem to orbit and zoom simultaneously, however. I need to click the 3D left button to switch from 3D navigation (twisting around) to 2D (zooming and panning). I've reset my buttons to 3D mouse defaults and this was the result. Suggestions on how to zoom and orbit simultaneously or how to successfully use the programmable buttons in VW? Jim, your posts give me hope that you've got a solution for me! Thank you for your help! 19. I have a vague idea of what that takes. Since I'm crunching on a deadline, I'll tackle that after I get my permit set printed. Thank you! (I'll also tackle a more meaningful signature with my VW info, too.)
  20. NOT SOLVED! It's now sporadic. Sometimes I can make and maintain chain dims and sometimes I can't - ALL WITHIN THE SAME VIEWPORT!
  21. Inexplicably solved. The problem was in viewports and the viewports had been moved on the sheet, which Will T. has submitted as a bug. I did a custom selection/modification on all viewport dimensions and chain dimensions, moved that selection to a new class and then back to the "dims" class, and I no longer have the problem. -Carol
