  1. Is it possible to use a photo of a building elevation as a wall texture (a la SketchUp)?
  2. In VW 12.5, what would cause the selection box to be invisible?
  3. I can confirm that Ray Libby is correct. Cannot import Sketchup 6 Can import Sketchup 5 WXP VW12.5.2
  4. The Adobe 3D demo/pitch is worth watching all of the way through. One feature, extreme compression, probably can't be equalled by QT without severe loss of quality. Maybe this sort of Adobe advance is ultimately good for the consumer; Apple needs to expand the Quicktime basic and pro feature sets. Apple has dumbed down QT a couple of times (that I'm aware of) in quest of the almighty buck with its Pro version. Granted, $30 is a lot cheaper than $995.
  5. Only if 'anyone' can fork over $$ and buy VW (and learn how to use it) is it available. And it has nowhere near the features of Acrobat 3D. Addobe Acrobat 3D is US$995. Reader, what you use to interactively view a 3D PDF file, is US$0.
  6. The point is, a PDF document and app is available to anyone - free; VW is not.
  7. This is amazing - an interactive 3D PDF. If VW could do this with PDFs, it would be a supurb graphics tool for communicating concepts with clients. The key is to utilize an app that clients already have. http://www.lightolier.com/MKACatpdfs/FXESR_3D.PDF Anyone know how to make this work? With- or without VW?
  8. A window inserted in a wall appears with a solid fill, although its class has no fill assigned. When editing this window, under Wall Detail, the window image appears solid too. It also appears solid within the View pane. Also, the PIO wants to put a transom in, although none has been called for. I would really appreciate knowing how to fix the above problems.
  9. Try as I might, I can't find the command to make a glass door transparent. I must be missing something simple.
  10. It's not worth it to reinstall. What does remove VW and registry keys mean? Thanks.
  11. Romantic behaves in a Word doc. No special keyboard settings Here's a demo in a new VW document:
  12. Whenever Romantic font is used in VW, the effect is boxes for many of the other fonts one selects to replace Romantic.
  13. Yes, it's a new document with text from the first one pasted in. However, I can create the same thing in VW by using the Romantic font. WXP VW12.5.2
  14. How do you post a file?
  15. Your should be easily able to do this: Set text to Romantic font. Change it to Arial. How does it look? WXP VW 12.5.2
  16. Font mappings: all are set to Aerial. Romantic isn't in either of the lists. Changing from Romantic to Times NR, Aerial, Freestyle Script, etc produces rectangles. Changing to Technic, SansSerif, etc. works.
  17. Not sure what you mean by "tabs". Handles-yes. This is a problem with the font: Romantic. I was able to replicate the problem in a new document: Set the font to Romantic. Type something. Change the font to anything else. The characters turn into rectangles with maybe half of the fonts selected. Must have something to do with whether the font is TrueType or Postscript. WXP VWA 12.5.2
  18. I have a couple of text blocks that were imported from a .dwg file that defy changing the font. When a new font is selected, the text changes to rectangles.
  19. boxjoint, thanks, but it's really not worth my time to get into something like this that has limited results. The workaround is to build a 3D door handle (and a 3D door louver, and kickplate), and stick it on each of the doors in the 3D model layer (where layers are linked and the layer is used for creating Renderworks bitmaps and viewports). This stuff could more effectively be put within the door symbol in an edited 3D view, I guess, but I'm working with a tiny building with only 6 (identical) doors. Regardless, the developers ought to make the effect usable; hence this post, in this Wishlist forum.
  20. It seems to have corrected itself, but I've noticed this before. I am editing a made-up truss in the 3d mode. It has bolts and gussets that need to be rendered in Open GL to be able to see where and if the components are there in the correct plane.
  21. It seems that the standard view list and the rendering options, within the symbol edit mode, are greyed out. What am I missing?
  22. What I did, Katie, is make a symbol of the door so that the modified door could be replicated. Then, in the door symbol/PIO editing windows, settings functions, did just what boxjoint suggested. Then looked at the door in 3D. Nothing appeared within the symbol edit subset or in the drawing outside that to indicate that I had done anything. Sounds like there is an intended capability that is a bit beyond the reach of some of us, dating back some years, and including growing up with MiniCad. (I guess you have to be a lot smarter than me to use VW in this context)
  23. Thanks. Tried that, but unable to make a lockset show up.
