  1. Speaking of window styles, these have long been a mystery to me. Where's the documentation for what the styles are? I've looked in VWA and the regular User's Guide. Page 5-25 has a paragraph that mentions Styles 1 and 2. And Glazing Styles???
  2. Robert, thank you. You've pointed out the obvious that I missed. But, it would still be useful to be able to move and to scale a referenced drawing, a la x-refing in AutoCad.
  3. We want to use referencing to create a half size set of drawings (11x17 sheet vs 24x36). Seems like a logical use of referencing -- NOT.1) If worksheets are referenced, their new locations can't be predicted or set.2) If the Detail Cut Wood tool is used and Show Size is picked, the resulting text sizes can't be predicted if the scale is changed.3) If different scales are used in the master drawing, their resulting locations will not be where they were in the master drawing. These and other problems could be avoided if each layer could be repositioned in the new file without unlocking the layer. This would be analogous to layer linking within a drawing where the resulting layer(s) can be moved after unlocking, while still preserving the updating function.
  4. Check to make sure the class of all of the doors is the same and not turned off; or if using different classes, that they are all turned on.
  5. No problem similar to yours but a couple of other frustrating things happening, one of which is: The new drawing, which references a couple of other files, is at a different scale. Sometimes text notes, generated by VW with leaders and arrows, seem not to recognize the new scale (but sometimes they do)
  6. In VWW V9.5, operating on Windows 98, patterns don't print. They do print when saved to V8.5.2.

    Door Swings

The door swing problem was apparantly NOT fixed in the 9.5 release. The problem occurs in the Window version (that I'm using). Very bad bug. Makes the release just about useless (unless you don't have to deal with doors).
  8. It is indeed frustrating. Can't figure out why non-Nemetschek employees are apologizing for the company's silence. As far as deploying only when the product is ready, 9.0 itself isn't. There are so many bugs that cause crashes that it's a stretch to say that it is ready for prime time. One annoying crash-producer is an attempt to change fore- and background colors in the Attribute Palette. Another annoyance is the lack of backward (and forward) compatibility with the simple door generator between v8 and v9. Also, what's with the preferences set? I just wanna draw. Why the error messages? To be fair, there are many useful improvements in v9, but the added complexity of the application removes from Vectorworks much of its former user-friendlyness. Hope the fix is in the works - soon. I've (reluctantly) chosen to go back to v8.
