  1. That worked. Never had to set that dialog. The default "Determine Automatically" has always worked. But setting it to feet was the fix. Thanks. My work around was to scale everything 12x. Glad to see the "scale by distance" explained in the other post, so thanks for that as well.
  2. I have 2010 Spotlight. Have never had an import problem till now. The sender converted a Visio to AutoCad. Now when I import to sheet scale, the drawing isn't even close to being to scale. It's way to small. What should be 10' is 10". Scale info is correct in dialog screens Any ideas?
  3. Thank You. Problem is solved. While this was happening, I found my VW to be running slow. I did 2 things with Tech Support that solved the problems. 1. Updated NVIDIA card from website. 2. Turned off GDI imaging. Will probably go to $GB of RAM as well. 2010 is a bit of memory Hog, but it's worth it. Thanks.
  4. OK this is getting annoying another crash today. Seems to happen when I double click on a symbol to make it a lighting fixture. After about the 5th insert, things go south. Would really appreciate a little help here.
  5. This happened twice today. I would select a lighting instrument, place it in the plot, put all that would appear would be a grayed line with what appeared to be 4 insert points. There is no info in the object window, and all commands are grayed out. Luckily, I can exit and even save. Upon reopening, everything is fine.......until the next crash. Running 2010 SP2 Build 116787 Windows XP 2 Gigs Ram.
  6. Can't edit inside the manager. Nothing takes. If I start from scratch I'm fine. XP PRO
  7. I have opened some 12.5 drawings in 10. However, I do not seem to be able to edit the layouts or the fields of the legends that came with these drawings. Do I need to create all new legends?
  8. I've been hearing things about NOD. Interesting that Kerry is running 360 and has no problems. He is, however, I think, running VW 2009.
  9. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!! Bottom Line: I updated My Norton 360 to version 3 on both computers. I completely removed Norton from my Desktop and everything worked just fine. I am now reintalling the old Norton and after the subscription runs out, I'll never use Norton again! Thanks to all who tried tilting at this windmill!
  10. More experimentation and have found that there is something on my main desktop and main laptop that does not like Vectorworks. Even after a total deletion of the program, I can't even get the Vectoworks Viewer to work......12.5 or 2009! Add to that, I have an old laptop lying around that I tried to install VW 12 on just to see what would happen. The installation worked just fine, even though I wasn't on line. So I am at a complete loss short of reformatting hard drives on 2 computers.
  11. OK....now I'm really concerned. I did a complete regedit deletion of VW, QT, and Nemetschek and the app still won't open. My concern now is the blank internet page in the final step of install. I would think there should be something on that page. I am using the latest Firefox, but I've never had a bad experience with that before. I pasted the URL into an IE browser, but still got the blank page. Any ideas here? This is really putting me behind in my work.
  12. Well, the CC cleaned up a lot of gunk, but didn't help. One interesting note. When I try to delete the VW folder after I try to start the app, I can't because "bcgcbpro675.dll" is in use. Upon restart I can dump the folder without problem. This really sucks. I'd be willing to go to 2009, but I really can't wait for shipping. I need it NOW! And what does it mean when the installation is finished, and it goes online to the Installation Page, and it is blank?
  13. Good try, but same result. Still knows me and the serial #. Looks like a day of re-formatting 2 computers. Though I will try CCleaner first, but hopes are low.
  14. OK...I've deletd QT and tried to reinstall VW with it's basic QT. I have not upgraded to 12.5. I click on the app, I get the hourglass by the cursor and then nothing. If I try to delete at this point, I get a message that says it is running or at least one of the .dll's is running. I'm thinking there is somehting very corrupt in the registry, but short of formatting the hard drive and doing a complete system re install, I am lost. As I said above the app does not appear in the add/remove section of the control panel so I am stuck with just deleting the VW folder in the Program folder. Since, Nemetschek is closed for the weekend, I am toying with the reinstall option for tomorrow. Wish a real Support guy/gal would swoop down and save me here.
  15. Hey...how's the Dubai contingent of Atlanta doing. So I'm deleting QT and yes I upgraded my 12.0 to 12.5. We'll see what happens. One problem I'm having is that VW does not appear on my installed program list in the Control Panel. The only way to uninstall is to delete the folder. That leaves a whole mess of the old program lying around the computer. Indeed, when I reinstall, it already knows my name and serial number, and the install line begins at 59%. This really sucks because I'm just beginning a real busy stretch. Fortunately, I have an old laptop that has 12.0 on it, but it is slow and not much of an option for what I need to be doing. I'll post if the QT things works.....and also I plan not to go to 12.5 and see if that works.
  16. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and none of my stuff opens. I've been running 12.5, since, well, since it came out. Now I click on the app and I get nothing. Any ideas. Windows.....XP Pro.......plenty of Ram, etc.
  17. Caution Tape or Blank Plastic Tape works even better and will not rip. Cheap when bought in 1000' Rolls.
  18. No....but I solved the problem. I somehow had gotten into a default font called Alibi. When I changed the default font back to Arial, refreshed the instruments, everything went back to it's happy little world. Thought I was going bonkers I did. Moral: Label Legends, at least in 12.5, do not like certain Fonts!
  19. My labels on my units have turned to mush. Little squares etc. I tried uninstalling (which is only possible by deleting the folder) and reinstalling. Same problem. I am still using 12.5 on Windows XP Pro.
  20. My Label legend manager will not open in 12.0. It will in 12.5. Any ideas?
  21. I'm sure this has been answered before, but why not? When working in 3D you have to change symbols when using hybrids if you want to go from say bottom hang to top hang. I'm guessing that this is just the way it is and that there has been no clamor for something different. Or is it that the 2D layer ups the ante on processing power?
  22. It seems that one cannot rotate a hybrid and individual hybrid 3d object as could be done in earlier versions. Is there a reason or am I, as usual, missing something.
  23. Unfortunately, the problem is in the label legend, not the unit. Yes. If I flip a unit, it may not exist in the real world. However, for my purposes I am more interested in keeping the circuit name in the same relation to the unit whether facing north or south If I use non-rotating, then in a vertical flip, the gel is at the base and the circuit information at the lens. As I don't do a lot of 3D, the unit flip does not bother me. However, it would be nice to have a way where the Label Legend stayed where it was suppose to be in all flips. Having no recourse in 12.5, I'm going back to 12.
  24. Jim, I got to thinking about your method and may even make a few more legends. You are correct in that 5 is not a lot, however, I have legends for PARs (smaller font for unit numbers), lekos, and movers. Not to mention labels for rotators, scrollers, etc. 5 times each of those is quite a bit. However, having said that, at the very least Front and back for each may not be such a bad idea. Thanx for all of the other responses. I've been bussy lately and haven't logged in for awhile.
  25. Wow, seems like a lot of legends. I can see the side legends, but all else should work with a simple flip. Well, it did. Still, to each his own.
