  1. VectorWorks saves your workspace settings on quit. So when you quit, all the settings in your current workspace get saved (including which workspace you're in). Are you saying this is not happening for you?
  2. I've seen several postings regarding the "loss" of the Nudge command. Nudge is now shift-[arrow key]. The large increment nudge is now cmd-shift-[arrow key] (ctrl-shift-[arrow key] for Windows).
  3. Juice, I read your question and I'm a little confused. What were you expecting to see? The procedure is for setting up a detail sheet so you can draw in multiple scales. There's nothing that should be on the layer until you draw something there.
  4. Hi, Guy. Select the Room Name object that you want to add remarks to, then highlight the Remarks field in the Object info palette. Edit your remarks in the bottom field. I've added to our wish the desire to edit the "comments" field in the Assign Room Finish dialog.
  5. There is no AIA standard for colors or line weights. The only AIA standard is for layernames, which for us translates best into class names. The National CAD Standards do have a standard pen table, but this is really for AutoCad.
  6. We've just posted two plug-ins at the VA download site that will set all doors and windows to Ceiling View or not.
  7. I've got our product manager working on a fix for this. I'll update you.
  8. I forgot to add two things: 1. ID symbols will always keep their apparent size as created at 1:1. In other words, if you create a 1/4" circle at 1:1, then you will get a 12" circle at 1:48, but it will look the same. Same with text size. 2. You asked about the Callout. Try setting you Callout preferences using the Settings... button in the Callout entry dialog. This should work better than using the OI palette.
  9. Andrew, you said: "Firstly open up ID_Symbols.mcd, duplicated Wdw ID 1 to get Wdw ID 6. Symbol has TagSchema record attached with Window Record specified in TagType. Edited symbol to get h x w. Linked 'h' to FldlSpec: Window Height and 'w' to Fld2Spec: Window Width" Your field specifications are OK, but you should link your text objects in the symbol to the Fld1Text and Fld2Text fields, not the Spec fields. The Fld#Spec fields determine what goes in the Fld#Text fields, which is what you should link to. Your Fld#Text fields should also have some default text value (even if it's only a space) in your symbol definition. "...Now I am unclear how to proceed. I only get one field value to specify and do not want either a prefix or suffix." If you are using a VA window object, it should already have a window record attached and the Window Height and Window Width fields should already be correctly filled out. If you are using a symbol, all you need to do is scroll down the list of fields in the field list until you come to these fields, then use the Selected Field Value field in the dialog and the Set button to set these values. That way the values in your Window data record (which will show up in your Window schedule) will always match what is on your ID tag. Make sure the library file containing your ID tags is closed also. I have modified the Window ID 2 symbol to take on height and width characteristics. I'd be glad to send you a copy of it. Email me at randerson@nemetschek.net to let me know.
  10. jarchtect, you can customize your symbols so that they look like whatever you want. Refer to the appendix page A-3 for the topic "Creating symbols for new ID Tags". You can also rescale your existing ID tags by editing the "ID_Symbols.MCD" file noted in the documentation. HTH
  11. Seismiczone, what version of VA are you using?
  12. Bruce, this can be easily fixed with the Workspace Editor. (I've just made this fix on my copy of VA)
  13. There is a command under "Utilities" on your Tool menu called "Convert to V2 Objects" which will automatically convert old-style doors and windows into the latest Architect ones. I recommend that you save a copy of your file before running it.
  14. The "enormous sills" problem is a bug fixed in VA9. The workaround for VA 1.01 is to put your windows/doors inside symbols.
  15. When you update a WGR in VW 8.5.2 (I'm not aware of a version "8.5.4")you should always be in top/Plan view in your active layer. See if this helps.
  16. The "cut plane" of the SW2/ SD2 does indeed pick up the line weight of the wall. There is a field in the door objects called "wall line scale" that allows you to decrease or increase the line weight of the door relative to the wall. Use a figure of less than 1 to decrease, greater than 1 to increase.
  17. You will need Renderworks to do this. Basically what you do is convert your image file to a texture and apply it to the object.
  18. Doug, what version are you using? Is this in VW or VA?
  19. Not in VW9/VA9. For now, you'll have to use the Control key.
  20. Right now the Select Wall Style... command doesn't allow key-shortcuts to individual wall styles, however you can assign a key-shortcut to the SWS... command and name your favorite wall styles so they are at the top of the list.
  21. The exterior wall dimensioner will dimension only the outside breaks in the wall. If you wish to dimension the CL of the wall framing "cavity", you could add a line-cavity to it (either manually or in the wall type) and then snap dimensions to that CL. As for right now, the wall framer doesn't deal with veneer walls. It's on our wish list to fix for a future version.
  22. VA can do this, as precisely as you wish, in other words, you don't have to approximate 7/16" as 0.5" . Try this: 1. Choose Select Wall Type off the Model menu. 2. Click the Add... button. 3. In the New Wall Type dialog that appears, make the following entries: Name: (Whatever) Assign to Existing Class: Wall-Ext-Frame Wall height: (as desired) Control Offset: (as desired) Number of Cavities: 3 Cavity 1 Thickness: 7/16" Cavity 1 Fill/Hatch: (h) Single Hatch Cavity 1-2 Line Style: Solid Line Cavity 1-2 Line Weight: .03mm Cavity 2 Thickness: 3 1/2" Cavity 2 Fill/Hatch: (h)White Solid Cavity 2-3 Line Style: Solid Line Cavity 2-3 Line Weight: .03mm Cavity 3 Thickness: 7/16" Cavity 3 Fill/Hatch: (h) Single Hatch Click OK, and use this new wall type. See if this gives you the look you desire. If not, edit it. HTH
  23. VA9 allows you to create basement floor levels just like any other floor. So just start your setup at floor -1 and you can draw on the basement plan like any other.
  24. It's a bug, and will be fixed in a future release.
  25. No. ID symbols are just that, based on symbols, and they will take on the size of the symbol. If you need a larger marker, you will need to make a sym for it. This is discussed in the appendix to VA9.
