Have you ever done this before? I've tried to export my model as dwg format to 3ds Max. It works great, however, I can't run Max on my Mac platform! I then tried to import the very same file into Maya, but the darn thing kept giving me an "error reading" message!!! What the heck is the problem? Do you know?

Hello everyone, Anyone of you guys know an effective way to exchange files between Vectorworks and Maya? I like to export my building out of Vectorworks and import it into Maya for a more sophisticated lighting and materials options, and also have it animated. Anyone knows how? Greatly appreciated if you know how and can show me. Sonny

Are you picking the absolute right option to join the two walls? It happened to me on several instances when I am so into it and forgot to pick the right option for joining. Also make sure you isolated that particular wall because sometimes the layer option of the bottom layer also active.

I really don't think it's the video card because I have dual card which mean three times the handling capability, but it still crashes when push come to shove! However, every bit of extra money and power you can put on the machine would help. Quite frankly, I don't think the technology is up to par for what we do. We are so abusive when it comes to power. I worked on 3ds modeling and rendering a lot, so I know. Don't believe advice from engineer and or computer tech that say: "you are buying a Ferrari, but only drive 25mph." In that analogy, I am buying the fastest car and blew up the engine on OD all the time if I am not careful. Back to the point of avoiding crashes. BE PATIENT WITH VW... PLEASE!!! It saves you a lot of times and headache in the long run. "WHENEVER YOU SEND A COMMAND OR PERFORMING A TASK, AND VW IS CACULATING, DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING ELSE... JUST WAIT... BECAUSE WHEN YOU CLICK SOMETHING ELSE, VW CRASHES". It happens every time. I am learning it the hard way, but I am learning... The amount of crashes I have reduced from about once every hours in a course of eight hours working session to almost "once in a full moon" when I learned to control my level of anger and impatient... LOL...It does save time in the long run w/o crash. One more thing, VW seems to like the MAC platform better for some reason.

I am not sure since I have the Design w/ Renderworks 2012 version, and when i choose the font in text option, it gives me just that. Sonny

Maybe you are right, I don't know! I just pick the font style from my version and it shows. I never did pay for any types of custom font. It might have came with the Adobe Master Collection I have installed in my machine, may be? I don't know, sorry!

Can anyone out there please show me in steps how to run pipe in a 3d building model? Please!!! My studio final project required the HVAC and plumbing show in 3d perspective. I have figured out how to run HVAC, but can't seem to use the piping tool! Any suggestion?

If you don't want to purchase that type of font yet, another type of stock font came with VW is Tekton. It is similar to the one Peter is using... I like it alot. Sonny

Please!!! Can anyone show me "the best way" how to detail a Wall Section with material hatching, notes, and dimensions? Also, Can we do the whole Building Section with all those elements show?
