  1. I'm involved in a project where I need to create custom window symbols like the one attached. Modeling the window is not an issue. What I do need to research is the process of creating a usable window symbol from scratch. Particularly: Where is the vertical insertion point of the window taken from? i.e. how is the height of the window contolled? What is the correct procedure to create the wall opening? i.e. 3D locus? The attached is a 2D elevation of the window I need to create in 3D.
  2. I experience this behaviour as well. Goes back to at least 2012..
  3. I usually just turn off auto join when I want to draw unconnected walls. I have it set up as a preference toggle. Nice to be able to right click on a wall join and unjoin it though.
  4. This script and article has been updated as of Sept 24th, 2015. Thanks for this - only thing is, if you have top and bottom offsets applied to the wall, these are reset. Can the script include the ability to re-enter these offsets as well through the dialogue box?
  5. I'm merely pointing out that I'd rather sacrifice the more advanced features of renderworks for more advanced architectural functionality, if given the choice. And no, it's not my preferred workflow.
  6. Surprisingly, I am in agreement with a VW/Cinema 4D workflow i.e. spend more time on developing the VW product and leave rendering to a 3rd party application. Caveats are: 1) There is reliable and smooth pathway between the two 2) Basic presentation graphics still possible native within the program. While the major new features do have promise, I was expecting more architectural improvements in 2016 and sadly, little has changed.
  7. No section attribute through class?? And what's that alternate section fill for then on roof components?? You know full well the benefits of system wide user controllable sectional graphic attributes.
  8. some nice features, roof components and slab addition and subtraction. Still no Live Sections and materials/or section attributes via classes. Why?
  9. its a worm hole Direct integration of C4D within Vectorworks
  10. I can relate to DontEvenJoke's experience, and let's face it, VW has a long legacy of crashing. I use Photoshop and other software a lot. Very, very rarely do they crash, admittedly I'm not a heavy user of them but neither would I consider myself an advanced user of Vectorworks. I acknowledge that there have been challenges to overcome and I also acknowledge that 2015 so far seems to be the most stable release. But the excuses have got to stop; just do what it takes to fix it and fast. If VW2016 proves itsel to be a stable release and contains some REAL time saving features (some that have been long requested) then VW2016 may be a release which opens our wallet. But stability is definitely priority number one.
  11. These two get the thumbs up from me. I agree with B on this one.
  12. This is an earlier wish of mine. Maybe it could work for you too. Earlier Wish
  13. Alan I had a similar issue quite a while ago, which may be related to your issue. I couldn't quite remember what I did to fix it hence I didn't reply to this thread. But I think it had something to do with groups, some objects within the group were layer plane and others were screen plane. When I changed them all to match then problem went away.
  14. Looking at a Focus CX myself.
  15. I'm glad someone is paying attention to the Vectorworks wishlist forum... We'll see who that someone is in september..
  16. Items 1-3 and 8 of my first post in this thread are now in my list of mandatory minimum requirements for my software of choice.
  17. I hope so too. September is going to be interesting...starting with an Archicad demo in the first week. For our studio, it's now all about productivity enhancements.
  18. Thanks Wes for your reply. I'm curious, how long has this tool been broken?
  19. Archicad 19 new features: 2D and 3D guidelines (permanent) Unified interface for mac (I would call it "improved") Interactive 3D surface painter VW2016 had better be good...
  20. Anyone know what's going on here? Simple wall projection...
  21. So I have a slab with 2 different components (both slab components are concrete, with differnet bounding to create a slab stepdown) and I have a concrete block cavity wall sitting on the slab. Is it possible, when creating a section viewport,to merge adjacent components with the same fill for the slab (so it shows as one) but for the wall not to merge components so that I can show the cavity? Or is it one for the wishlist?
  22. Similar to above but use the extract tool in the 3D toolset
  23. That's my point. ArchiCad is way ahead as an architectural tool, so kudos to their development team. No contest there. Not sure how other industries are faring but the majority of big ticket architectural wishlist items that have been wished for multiple times by multiple users appear to have gone unheeded. Sure, there has been issues with 64 bit and implementation of VGM, but to put things in a bit of economic perspective - the software I trained on in 2008 had "Live Sections" and multiple model views even back then (2 often wished for VW improvements). Too many excuses and not enough meat and potatoes. And I would much prefer VW to become more architecturally proficient than to switch...
