  1. Thankyou Michael, My next question is how to easily reduce the amount of lines in some of these imported .dwg files. For example, in this particular case I import a Martin MAC TW1 moving light and the file is quite large and slows the program down whilst zooming in and out. The file imports with 5 classes, 4 of them dont seem to contain anything but it will only let me delete 3 and the 5th class seems to contain all the drawing information. Is there a quick way to make these types of files easier to work with? Essentially all I really need is the shell of the fixture. Thanks again.
  2. I know this is probably a really newbie question but i'm really lost and the help file hasn't proved successful yet. What i'm trying to achieve: Have a list of symbols of different audio visual equipment I use on a regular basis and be able to insert them into drawings. E.g. I import a .dwg file of a piece of truss from a manufacturers website but how do I save that as a 2D/3D symbol I can rename and use in any future drawings? I am using Vectorworks 2010 SP4. Any help anyone could provide would be most welcome but please understand I am quite new to the program so something that may seem basic and not worth mentioning I probably need to be told! Thanks.
  3. Apparently this is a known issue to Nemetschek that occurs with some PDF files. Being a fairly novice user I was almost certain it was something to do with my program settings or computer. Now I can stop pulling my hair out!
  4. No problems Andrew, thanks for letting me know. I'm sure you have hundreds of requests for additions but that would be a good one
  5. After some further testing... I start a fresh, import the pdf to the first layer, draw in some objects on the second layer. I save, export to PDF and everything is correct! I go back to the first layer, lower the opacity of that layer, export to pdf and the layer is upside down. I change the opacity back to 100% and it exports the right way round! Now I am completely confused....
  6. Hi, Having a problem with a very simple 2d drawing, hope someone can help... I am importing a 2d PDF floor plan of a venue on one layer and drawing in some lighting fixtures & text on another layer. When I try to print or create a viewport and export the file to a PDF, the venue floor plan layer flips upside down thus the objects on other layers are out of position. The only way we have found to get around this is to ungroup the imported PDF and delete the ungrouped object and then create the viewport... My other colleagues are running the same version of vector works and all have been installed the same way. We are all running the same operating systems. For some reason they never have this issue when using PDF files as 2D floor plans, it just works, the right orientation, first time.
  7. Hi all, I am using the Landru plug in to create a drape line with pipe-drape function. Does anyone know how I can make the drape line crease in height? E.g. the drape line is 12m in length, it starts at 3m high and gradually increases in height to 6m at the end of the drape line. Thanks.
  8. How do I do this using Euro truss library?
  9. I am trying to set a hang angle using euro truss without any luck. I keep getting told by vector works I can only rotate a hybird object around the Z axis. I want to make the truss stand up 90degrees like a leg on a base plate. Any ideas? Thanks alot.
