  1. I use classes for a ton of stuff and so I'm constantly creating new classes or modifying existing ones. At least 2 or 3 times a week I need a class from another drawing. Why can't I import the class via the resources palette like I would a symbol, hatch or worksheet? I have to open the drawing file and do a copy/paste. Seems so archaic...
  2. I use worksheets extensively to keep track of area calculations in my drawings for all sorts of things from impervious surfaces to planting areas. I typically use 'feet and inches' as my units setting for all dimensioning work, but I have to have the units set to 'feet' for my square foot calcs in the worksheet. I thought the unit settings in the new 'document settings' menu in 12 would solve this but it doesn't. I typically set my units to feet and recalculate my worksheets before switching to feet and inches for all my dimensions. But it's a pain. Is this being worked on or is there a workaround?

    Plot Files

I was told a while back that it's possible to generate a plot file from VW. True? If so how do you do it? Does anyone think this is more reliable than making a pdf file? I'm not happy with the way the pdf maker deals with fills and patterns sometimes.
  4. On a similar note I always have trouble with pdf's when I have a layer set to 'overlay' The pdf maker can't seem to handle this and reverts the layer to 'paint'. Anyone know of a workaround for this?
  5. Good idea but no dice. I agree that origin problems always exist with CAD files. I typically reset it to be within my drawing areas somewhere. Anything I draw in 3-d not just symbols go to the 6000' level. What about a working plane adjustment?
  6. I'm a landscape architect and dealing with site design. Using classes instead of layers in my case is just not efficient. Classes are great for attribute consistency and worksheet calculations. I'm doing the workaround but it becomes a pain when creating 3-d views and calculating viewer height and 'looking toward' height.
  7. My default Z elevation semms to be around 6,800'. When I draw (extrude) and object or create a 3-D view I want the elevation to start at zero. How do I reset this?
  8. 1.63 Design Layers (of which one has 3-d objects) and 8 sheet layers 2. No to both 3. No, not native. I guess you might say invasive. It started as a survey prepared by my civil in AutoCad. [ 01-23-2006, 04:39 PM: Message edited by: miles ]
  9. I have both the Z and Delta Z set to 0 and object are still inserting at the 6,000' level. If I place a symbol in top/plan and then view the object in 'front' view it is around 6,000 on the y axis.
  10. That didn't seem to change anything. A 3-D object is still inserting at around 6,000' For instance if I placed a 3-D chair into the drawing it would be sitting at a z elevation of 6,000'
  11. There has always been a problem exporting fill patterns to ACad also. Fills are lost and the only thing that appears when opened in ACad is the boundry line of the object that had the fill. This is a major problem for us.
  12. I have been dying trying to get our new hp500 to work reliably with macplot. I inquired about the 500ps so that we could eliminate macplot and was told some horror stories about the slowness of the 500ps and the mac. I think there are major problems with the 500 and 500ps, and am getting ready to send mine back for an 800.
  13. Why is it that the first row of patterns (they look like the ols sticky back zipitones) cannot be printed to a post script printer to look as they appear on-screen? They print a s gay tones. If I wanted a gaytone I would choose a gaytone. Please fix this problem.
  14. Plotter manufacturers seem to be slowly forgetting (or not caring) about the mac users out there, and as a result there are some major incompatibilties and limitations to our plotting options. A built-In VW driver would be a welcomed miracle.
