1. Thanks very much, you learn something new every day, this is todays new thing :-)
2. I created a Rectangle and extruded it, the I subtracted another solid from it. Now I need to texture the top and sides, but the "Part" is greyed out, I can only add one texture all over. How can I get "Top" and "Side" parts back to my Solid Subtraction?
3. Thanks guys that helped a lot! @Benson - This is the sort of thing I was looking for, just thought it might involve a few less steps to achieve it. @Ray - Thanks for this tip, could be a handy "cheat" if I just want to print off a quick copy!
4. Okay, the item is listed in the OIP as a "Solid Subtraction" whereas the other object are listed as "Extrusions". Is this why I can't apply a texture to its top surface? If so how do I make it so that I can?
5. I created a circle then extruded it 200mm to create a platform. Then I had to subtract another shape from it to create a custom platform. This worked fine, but... Now that I try texture it I can only add a texture to the whole object, the "Part" drop-down is greyed out. All other extruded objects have a "top", "side", "bottom" etc.. So why doesn't my platform? How can I add a texture to the top (the floor of the platform) as another to the side?
6. Thanks, I swapped all the Par64s over to the Altman symbol, but the fixture doesn't work when I switch it on... All the others lamps I've used just have to be turned on from the Visualization panel. But when I do this with an Altman Par64, nothing happens... What's going wrong?

Ahh, thanks, I missed the unified view bit in Micheal's original reply. Sorry about that, made a signature too if that helps.
8. Okay done that, does it help?
9. That doesn't work, I've already go my printer settings for A4 but the drawing doesn't fit. I need a way to say "Take this section of the drawing and make it fit my printable area". How can I do that? Seems like a perfectly logical and normal requirement to me.

I do that, but it's like they are all independent. Even though the fixtures are assigned to a LPO, if I rotate the view, the fixtures move and the other layers stay where they were. If I move the Scenery Layer then the lighting bars and lamps don't follow. Really frustrating, I'm just not getting it :-( How do I view everything properly in 3D?
11. Complete beginner to VW2010 so please forgive me. Designed my project and now want to print it, but the "Page Area" is only a small section of the whole drawing. I want to print the whole thing off on one sheet of A4. Can't see any way of changing the "Page Area", all the options I play with never seem to make any difference. How do I make my whole drawing fit? EDIT: Ideally I'd like a way to select a section and say "Fit to Page Area" so I can print it. Is that possible?
12. Thanks, this works better Still not 100% happy since the offset between the fixture and the label are different for different instruments. Even though it's using the same label legend. So a Parcan and S4 would be: [font:Courier New] Channel Channel ______ | \ |-------\ =======| Color |=====| Color |====== |______/ |-------/ Is this something that I just have to put up with? Doesn't make the drawing look very unified. Appreciate all your help by the way!

Think I'm missing something pretty basic here. I've got my Spotlight project with the different layers, I've sketched out the ground plan on the "Theatre FloorPlan" layer in 2D. Next I put the the set on the "Scenery" layer and extruded everything. Viewing this in a 3D view displays as expected. Next I added my LX bars to the "Lighting Positions" layer, made them 2d/3D objects and set the Z position to 5.5m. Then I went to the "Light Plot" layer and added all my instruments to the bars. Now I view this layer in 3D and it shows only the objects in that layer in 3D.... The scenery is still in 2D. If I make the "Scenery" layer active and view in 3D it only shows the scenery in 3D and not the lanterns or bars. How do I view the entire drawing in 3D?
14. Okay that worked, but seems a bit clunky and long winded. Isn't there a way that VW can assign the label according to the LPO? So it would always put the either side of it? Example: [font:Courier New] Ch Ch Ch Ch __ ____ ____ / \ | \ / | | | ======| |===| |===| |===| |====== | | |____/ \____| \__/ Cir Cir Cir Cir Basically, that shows 4 fixtures each facing a different direction, but each label is consistent with the channel above and circuit below. Can VW2010 automatically assign labels like this without me having to create 4 label legends and assign them to each lamp? It should be able to figure out the orientation of the lantern in relation to the LPO and do it without me wasting time making it look right.
15. How do I move the label closer to the line? I can't see any way to change this. I want to "Gang By" Circuit, but it puts the circuit label too far away from the line. When it's the channel it's perfect, that's where I want the Circuit to show up! Can't find a way to edit them though...?
