Sadly I'm running SP2 and it's still occurring.

This is pretty much the reason for my vent. everytime a new staff member starts, the above highlights exactly the issue we are having, not to mention the basic problems with the Slab, wall and roof tools. From my point of you these are the basic elements of the project, before adding notes, beams, modelling. Its extremely frustrating when after going through the discussion of Yeah, I can see why you would think that is the way it would work, but..." to find out that after they have approached it correctly there is a bug with the element. I'm not sure if im the only one but I'm finding that its becoming harder and harder to know if your using a tool wrong or if there is a separate command for just the one particular situation. Examples being: Add surface. Can add polygons, rectangles, circles, floors, slabs, roofs. Try it on an extrusion, doesn't work. Reason, there is the add solids command. The connect combine tool. You can join for example lines, roof faces. Try it on walls doesn't work. Reason there is a separate wall join tool. Align distribute. Can align and distribute lines, text, walls, symbols etc. Try it on callout notes doesn't work. Reason, use the align leader lines command. Text. Can change the size of text in the OIP. Try it on dimensions, not available. Reason, go up to text and change font there. Mirror tool. Can mirror walls, symbols, roof faces, the lsit goes on. Try it on callout notes and doesnt work. Reason, use the left/right orientation in OIP. Section Markers All objects put on a layer and class are controlled by layer and class settings. Try it with section markers doesn't work. Reason, use the section line instance tab on OIP.

I have made changes to the external trim of a window. I wish to apply these changes to the other windows in the job. I select the window, go into the Copy and Apply windoor setting palette. The copy from "selected windoor object" is not selectable. The other two options are from file default settings which is not applicable, the other option is from windoor symbol which is blank. Ideas?

Can anybody advise how to set up the wall components so that they will not show when that class is turned off?

In VW2017 all of a sudden in elevation all Window IDs from opposite side of structure are showing. Any ideas why? Is this a bug or a setting?

I have a wall style with a series of components, all classed. In plan view these components are still showing even thou turned off. If I turn the class off and on again it appears fine until I zoom in or out then they appear again. Is this a bug or working as intended?

Hmm im hoping its a bug haha. Trying to get the line with arrow to be either 0° or 30°, however won't let me hold shift and draw straight. The angle in the blue box as seen in attached image doesn't seem to relate to anything useful. In the image the angle reads 41°, this isnt from horizontal, im guessing its from the original angle, which if unknown is not much use.

In VW2016 the leader line on the callout notes would snap to various angles as per the snapping pallete. This is not working in VW2017. Have tested with line work, text etc and they are all snapping to say 15° increments as set. Is this a bug or is there another setting that has to be enabled for this to work...

Should also add that each morning when I open the project up the keynotes legend is gone. Have to go to any callout note, untick and tick place as keynote, then tell it what sheet, delete the legend that it creates on current sheet.

I have a set of callout notes in a job which link back to a keynotes legend. Have performed the Text > Reconcile Notes command and no issues. Each time I click update on the OIP with the keynote Legend selected I get a new N/A instance. Any ideas how to fix this?

Please note that I renamed "ceiling" class to "ceilings and linings"

Thanks Jim, if I install the SP off the website, will that cause issues when I install the localized version when its available?

I have a wall style which has skirting, gib (plaster) lining and timber framing. In plan views we dont show the skirting and gib (plaster) lining, we only show the frame. The windoors options for thickness all seem to recognize the overall width not the core component. In the setting I have replaced the 150mm (overall width) with 90mm (frame width). When I exit there is no change and when I re-enter the dimensions have reverted to 150mm. Any ideas how to fix this?

I check for SPs semi-regulary, and even right now I have gone up to Help > Check for updates and get the message "Vectorworks is currently up to date". I am on SP1. Why does this not say update available?

Found how to perform in VW2017. See from about 44:00

I have a slab style setup with four components. The four components have a class assigned for each (see image below). Two of the components are set in 90mm from the outside. In the model looks fine, however in a sheetlayer viewport I have done a class override to make the top object have no fill with dashed outline. I have then turned off the other three classes. The viewport still shows the dashed outline for the other two components. Any ideas why?

If you check your C:\Program Files\Vectorworks 2017\Libraries\ is it empty apart from one file? If so, reinstall VW2017 using the latest install pack. Should fix the above.

I'm trying to change the section marker style but there are no options available. Any ideas why and how I can fix this? Have tried in a blank file and get same result.

The hatch didn't work but using an image did. Only problem is getting the quality of the image right.

With the framing member tool is there a way to have the section show as a cross as opposed to a fill or pattern? Contemplated using a hatch but the cross needs to appear as below.
