  1. It appears I had signatures turned off, so I wasn't even aware mine was showing 2011....and with them turned off, I couldn't see the instructions in Pat's showing how to change.
  2. Either you guys are making fun of the fact that I'm using a 2D workflow here (hence VW2011) and no one has signatures, or my forum settings don't show signatures. EDIT: My bad...see below.
  3. Thanks. I suspected this was the case. I had been using the legacy tool in the past. Was starting a new project from scratch and thought I'd see if the Grid Line Tool made thing simpler. Will switch back. I don't follow the signature comment.
  4. I have a 2D workflow project where I have drawn a floor plan and included Grid Lines. I try to add a new grid line with the same label to a different layer (Exterior Elevations) and the tool won't let me. Says that label is already in use. I know that, and I want to use it again. How to make it happen?
  5. I'm having the same issue with a 2023 file I opened in 2024. Fortunately in this particular drawing all my doors are a single style. I switched the threshold to "Threshold under Leaf" for this style for now. It goofed up the look of the doors, but this allows me to keep working while I'm waiting for a fix. I have 442 doors in the file. Removing and re-inserting isn't an option. In my case I am using the same wall type and door style on 6 different design layers. The problem exists on 4 of the design layers but not on the other 2. I'm running a Mac as well. I sent the file to Juan in a message.
  6. Does VW have the functionality to digitally sign and seal drawings to comply with the US Federal standard (adopted March of 2012)? We are doing work in Florida, and some of the building departments are starting to reject our old process of placing signatures on sheets that will be distributed electronically. Digital signature companies like Global Sign might be the way to go, but when I read their literature I can't tell if their systems are compatible with Mac OS.
  7. Reading all these comments, I hear everyone saying "Yeah, I work around the problem by X." Seems like having a phase field added to the Object Info pallet could create a really powerful tool set for renovation projects. I'd love to be able to switch a wall from New (all components visible) to Existing (solid white, grey, black, etc) or Demolition (dashed lines with solid fill) without creating and swapping out three wall types and having them live on three different layers (2D workflow) simply to make managing the graphics possible.
  8. Closing the laptop lid and and re-opening it seemed to work for me when rebooting the entire computer from cold did not.
  9. Does upgrading the mac os to 12.2 help this issue? My computer is doing this also on occasion.
  10. I use design layers extensively, but when a client repeatedly changes the design during the evolution of a project, you are left with multiple instances to edit....but thank you for pointing out the tutorial. I'll review it and see if it has any new process for me.
  11. (2D work flow question, probably applied to 3D as well). Has anyone worked up a best practices presentation for dealing with existing construction, demolition, drawings, and new construction? I've tried several methods, and nothings seems to be as simple as it should be. I end up creating Existing, Demo, and New Layers for each level of a building. I create Existing, Demo, and New Wall Types. I create Existing, Demo, and New Classes for 2D objects. Autoclassed objects like windows and doors are a perpetual pain also. It feels like the entire process is a series of cumbersome workarounds at the moment. Surely someone has an elegant solution?
  12. I concluded my problem was actually related to the touchpad not the software.
  13. Hmm.....cycled power on everything yet again (3rd or 4th time), unplugged then reconnected everything and it now all works. I'm gonna call this "not software related?"
  14. Update. I found the Repairs function on the Updater screen and ran that. It fixed 51 files. But the problem still exists. I am using a laptop with a touchpad plus I have an outboard monitor, keyboard, keypad plugged in. The software works fine with the touchpad built into the laptop, but not with the outboard touchpad. Not sure where to go from here since the problem showed up with the Service Pack installation.
  15. I downloaded Service pack 2.1, fired it up, and can no longer select any object on my screen. Any ideas? If I can't get this to work, how do I switch back to the previous install of the software?
  16. I have text set up to automatically rotate to be readable. I presume this is controlled through Document Preferences>Adjust Flipped Text? I am attempting to put parking lot numbers on a drawing, so I want the numbers oriented to the driver of the car, not to the sheet. I only want to affect the parking lot numbers, not all of the other text in the file. Is this possible to do? I should add that rotating the text manually works in model space but it displays incorrectly in the viewport.
  17. I am going through the VW University courses which are based on the 2021 interface, although I am using 2022. In the module on Reset Preferences, the example suggests setting Vectorworks Preferences > 3D > Default 3D view render mode to Open GL. I don't have that option, only Shaded and Wireframe. Should I have Open GL? What's the difference? How you decide which to use? I'm running Architect.
  18. Thanks guys! This is exactly what I needed. When I generate a section for detailing, I don't want it moving out from under my annotation. Seems like a toggle button should be added to the tool, or integrate both functions into the tool separately.
  19. SOLVED! On the mask desktop, the dock across the bottom of the screen has icons for each program and app. Right click on each one to select Options. Vectorworks was assigned to Options> Assign to Desktop 1. When you drag the program into a different desktop, the pop ups still look at that assignment to know where to live. When I changed the setting to Options> Assign to None, the problem went away. The Attribute Palette, Resource Manager, Save dialog box, etc now follow the rest of the software when it shifts desktops.
  20. I've added a section cut symbol on my floor plan to generate a section drawing. On that drawing I added details such as blocking, dimensions, etc. I had to move the section cut symbol around on the floor plan. Went back to my section viewport and the generated section shifted out from under all of my additional details. How do you prevent this from happening? Should I not be using the same section symbol for notation that I use to control where the section is cut?
  21. Update - I've noticed the same problem occurring with 2021....the missing palettes can be found on a different desktop. I can go to that desktop, click on them, then return to the VW desktop and the palettes will follow me back. Same thing happens with the Save window that pops up when Publishing drawing sets. I now wonder if the problem isn't related to the the OS no longer being as compatible with the software.
  22. "Macintosh HD/Users/jblock/Library/Application Support/Vectorworks" I get to this point and the trail runs cold. I have no preferences folder under 2022. ("C: > Users > (YourUsername) > AppData > Roaming > Nemetschek > Vectorworks" - I presume this is for Windows users?)
  23. I used the default install location, but my directories don't have that set of paths to select from. I have no library folder under my username. I'll email tech support. Thanks.
  24. So how do we bump this to a known bug repair scenario?
  25. No. I'm running 11.5.2 and I meet the Mid-level project minimum requirements for hardware. The file I'm working on is 22MB and although it has a pdf image imported, has very little geometry yet.
