  1. Hi Adam, I found a work-a-round for this posted by Markdd, here is the link to his post below, click on it to be taken to the thread: Once you re-build the user folder the tool works properly, but then you will also need to replace your document templates, workspaces, etc... This is worth doing, not too bad on re assembling the user folder once the new one is created. db
  2. Thanks J, I tried that but the installer would not move ahead without seeing the old app. Another thread suggested re-setting the user folder. Once I did so, the truss tool works properly. db
  3. Thanks Markdd, Resetting the user folder did allow the truss tool to work, as well as make older symbols visible that I created with the truss tool pf previous VWX versions. I agree with Kevin though, this SP should have been reviewed and thoroughly tested to ensure everything is working properly..... db
  4. I am having the same issue, truss tool will draw a line but no truss is created. In the past I created symbols using the truss tool from older versions of VWX. These symbols do not appear visibly when I copy paste them onto a new document. I can see the old symbols when I open that particular file, but I can't use those symbols on a new drawing? JBenghiat - can you explain installing SP1 in a clean folder? When you launch the SP1 installer, it asks for the location of the VWX application? Thanks in advance.....db
  5. Just found out that it is a small code bug that should be fixed soon in the regular Spotlight version. db
  6. Thanks Rob, I do see that I can add a second projector per zone using the blended tool. The project I am drawing is a combination of a widescreen & 16:9 screens. Seems odd that adding a second projector for a single zone screen would be removed and only available on the blended tool? db
  7. Hello everyone, I am using VWX 2018 SP1 - Spotlight w/Rederworks on a fully loaded 12 core late 2013 Mac Pro. Recently I upgraded from 2017, and I have been using Vectorworks since it was Mini-Cad. Question: When I insert a Video Screen object, I no longer seem to have the option of multiple projectors for a single screen? See attached screen shot. Look about 3/4 down on the properties menu, notice that the "Multiple Projector" option is grayed out and not accessible? This has always been a very straight forward check box on all past versions of Spotlight and the Landru design tools. Has this changed in 2018? Do I need to do something differently? Is this a forthcoming bug fix? I have yet to load the latest Landru tools plugins but will be doing so soon, I doubt this will be a problem using the Landru versions..... Thanks in advance......db
  8. I am using VW2013 and see that the speaker tool has several generic audio speakers included (d&b, EAW JF80's, Nexo LS1200, etc). This is very handy if you use these speakers on a project. However, I typically use different boxes pending on the supplier chosen. I have been attempting to insert a new speaker type in the generic list with no luck....Is there a way to import data for a particular type of speaker form a symbol with the data included? I know that I can manually enter & save a speaker type, but it would be nice to pull from symbols.... Thanks in advance.....
  9. While exporting a large Vectorworks 2011 file to v2008, the program froze up, spinning wheel and showing non responsive, so I force quit the app. When I try to re-open the file it hangs up while trying to verify the file? Help, I have several hours of work into this project, and the backup file is doing the same thing. Any suggestions??? Using a 27" iMac 2.93 Quad i7, 16gb Ram, 1gb video card, VW 2011 SP2 Thanks in advance db
  10. Chris, I would go with the 27" iMac. You get a built in great monitor. And the ones currently available have 1gb of video memory. The more memory the better! Also, go for the i7 Quad-Core. Buy the iMac with the lowest amount of RAM, and then buy an upgrade kit from MacMemmory.com, you can buy a 16gb upgrade kit for $500. The above config provides a lot of bang-for-the-buck compared to a Mac Pro.
  11. Just tried that and it appears that what I am interested in is part of the bitmap. I wonder if that occurs based on the output settings when the pdf was exported from whatever program created it?
  12. I think I answered my own question. - First I opened the pdf in Adobe Illustrator CS3 - Then exported as a DWG file - Imported that dwg into Vectorworks (Using VW2010) - Adjusted the scale to match my drawing Now I can simply select the 2D shapes from the imported plan and extrude into 3D shapes
  13. Hi everyone, After importing a pdf and properly scaling it to match my existing drawing, I would like to easily extract simple shapes from the pdf for use as extrudes in my original drawing? Thanks in advance.....
  14. I submitted this as a bug, hopefully we will see a correction to the problem with the next service pack.
  15. Yes I have tried exporting as pdf, but no improvement. I am printing a sheet layer with a border & title info that creates the desired deliverable. I can render this from a camera view while working within the layers and export as an image file and all is good. But the pdf export or print seems to be the problem. This also only happens with Open GL with shadows and very high detail selected. Other render modes do not present this "white line" problem?
  16. Thanks for the insight, glad I'm not the only one who has seen this.
  17. Hello everyone, Please take a look at the image example in the below link to see a sample of the problem I have run into, any input would be greatly appreciated. http://files.me.com/dbrumbach/3xr12p
  18. Ok, so when rendering a camera view (viewport) within a sheet, and then print out as PDF, a white vertical line appears on the right side of each and every sheet of a drawing? The background render settings are: Open GL, very high detail, draw edges, anti ailase on. This problem just appered out of nowhere. Has anyone else had any anomolies like this? This only happens with Open GL, including image exports.
  19. If you have a chandelier in any of those formats I would gladly accept one. Have not had any luck finding one in any format. Thanks...
  20. That did the trick, had the instrument off. Thanks.....
  21. I have tried that, the beam rests on a horizontal plane instead of a vertical plane?
  22. I am a TD not an LD, but am very proficient with VW and I am becoming better at lighting a scene and rendering a decent looking image. I have been using VW for many years but have just really started to dive into the rendering capabilities. Currently using VW08 w/Renderworks, MacbookPro 2.5g dual core pentium, 4gig ram, 512 gfx card, etc. While rendering a simple staging event, I wanted to project a custom gobo onto a set wall. I cant seem to get the instrument to focus on the vertical wall surface, it wants to focus on the ground plane, even if I set the focus point at +8'. I have searched through the manuals & help pages but cant seem to find the answer. Any help would be much appreciated. note: The instrument is out of the field of view in the rendering, it does not have to be positioned correctly as I am more concerned with achieving a certain look for the presentation, the LD can work out the geometry later. Thanks.... Dave Brumbach Technical Producer Three Phase Media, Inc.
