  1. HI all, just updated my MBP and did a fresh install of VW 2011, downloaded the latest SP. 2 things are generating VectorScript errors: refreshing instruments after making changes in LW5, (which actually does affect the change) and when using number instrument tool for dimmer values (which does not). here's a sample of the error log, very similar if not identical in both instances. hardware: MBP 8,2 2.2ghz quad core i7, 8g ram. peace, Tim O Warning: _4871 _4903 - String index or count must be from 1 to 255. 2. Hi Jim, this has happened with me also, most notably when I was using focus points with duplicate array. I lost several hours, always got to about the same point, when the file would crash. it would get to the point where all I would try to do is move one fixture and it would crash. out of desperation, I thought "maybe if I just go do something different for a while, it may clear up". and it did. I can't remember what exactly I did, but something in a viewport I think. I also stopped using duplicate array with focus points and with fixtures that were focused already, and that seemed to help. That problem was on a file imported from autocad; yesterday I had a file that originated in VW 2010 and did a (limited) amount of focus points by click/drag duplication and had no problem. I also need to scour my symbol folder - years and many rev's worth of symbols floating around in there. Peace, Tim O
  3. I would add to this: -) allow the selection of the resource to be the entire description line, not just the tiny icon -) allow me to increase the size of the font so I can see the resources more easily
  4. I too would love to see multi-core support. Also a better system for off-loading CPU intensive graphics to the GPU.
  5. Autodesk has a very useful ipad app....those Autocad users I know that have it really find it useful on job site, especially for taking measurements and the like.
  6. This is wonderful! exactly what I've been wanting, but years ago the editable spreadsheet just didn't cut it. what a resource! Thank you Sir! peace, Tim Olson
  7. I managed to leave my last wireless mouse sitting in a desk drawer in the hotel, and was glad to find this thread. I'm curious which model of the Logitech MX you're using -- there's a Ton of different models. I intend to stay with wireless but can't deal with any time lag. peace, Tim Olson
  8. Assuming someone will have to hang your plot someday, how will your drawing let the hands know which pipe the instrument goes on? you said it looks like it's on one pipe but actually on another - sometimes I'll offset stuff that's directly beneath, put it in a comment bubble, and draw an arrow to it's exact location, or put in a note to check elevation drawing. Sounds like if something's close enough to confuse VW it's probably going to confuse a stagehand. peace, Tim O
  9. Hi Gregory, I suspect any software would experience similar issues in version compatibility. It's important for these companies to show constant improvement such as bug fixes and added features, faster processes, which in turn makes our jobs better. If I were in your shoes, I'd have a heart to heart conversation with your board of directors, share your experience with them, and get a line item in the budget for software upgrades. I don't know your circumstance; you may be in a community theatre which is largely funded by donations. The world does move on, however, and if your goal is to be able to interact in an effective manner, then current and updated software is a must. Peace, and best of luck, Tim Olson
  10. Hi Sam. The first time I saw this was in a tomcat truss symbol I got from their website. I imported it from autocad and, the first time I went to turn off the truss class, saw bits & pieces of the truss still there. what I then did was edit the symbol, select all, and select the class I want everything in. Now ungroup the selection - if you see more objects in OE than you had before, you have to make sure THEY are all selected, and put those bits & pieces all in the same class. stuff inside of groups can be different classes than the group itself, which really messed with my head till I figured it out. once you have every bit and piece inside the symbol all on the same class, you can put that symbol on any class or layer and turn different groups of the same instrument off and on all day long. Andy, I'm looking forward to seeing your VW class @LDI peace, Tim Olson
