  1. I think I am admin.... how do I check? You are talking VW admin setting somewhere (not windows setting) ? Thanks
  2. Thanks for your reply Yep I tried this, tried restarting, tried editing when there is no document open. It just returns to the default. I'm not overly surprised its not possible to edit the default built-in content, but I did expect the customiZe function to make a copy of the built in plugins for messing about with. Else why have it? Its true I've not tried every plugin. Maybe some can be customised, but the ones I tried failed to save the changes? Also apparently customize is the original spelling? so google tells me, but I wanted to help others could find this thread!
  3. Hello, I'm just playing with trying to customise an existing plugin to see if it will help my workflow. Through the plugin manager, last tab, built in plugins, then click customise.... you have some editing options to even add your own pop up menus. But, it does not save? I thought it might make a copy somewhere which is then needs to be bought into the work space? but no? you play with the fields, add your own options, exit, and then its as if nothing happened? So does any one know where I'm going wrong? and if you can't customise them, whats the point of the option? Thanks so much
  4. Hello. Any advance on this 2013 answer? Have they sorted this in 4 years... a few requests on the forum from others. And I can't find the script download from the mk answer above in this new look forum. So I can't try this. Also - We need this for metric, not imperial. Being able to round up to the nearest .1m ??? or nearest 100mm if not switching units. or - Can space tool 'calculated dims' display assigned dual dimensions? if so how? I can't find how to switch it? Thanks.
  5. Thanks. I did try this initially, but it kept highlighting the whole menu and would not let me assign a short cut to a command withing the menu. So I gave up thinking it was not possible because it was a bespoke plugin thing However, following your advice I tried again, and this time it seemed to let me do it. No idea what the problem was the first time. Probably user error. Thanks Again
  6. I hope there is some one who can help me with this. I can't seem to assign a short cut to the nbs annotator link, "place call out" (i.e. not a normal call out). Can anyone help with a script pallet so at least I will not have to click in to the menu? Thanks in advance.
  7. Ah no, its not in C:\Program Files\Vectorworks2015\Plug-Ins\Dictionaries but you made me think where it might be on our roaming profiles, so if anyone else is on a similar set up I've found it here. C:\Users\rob\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek\Vectorworks\2015\Plug-ins\Dictionaries (Only switch "rob" for your user name) Thanks
  8. Great. I shall look forward to this.
  9. Hello, the user dictionary has moved in by 2015. If someone had accidentally added a few common miss-spellings of words using the learn function, how might they be un learnt. Thanks
  10. whashisface, I don't know if this will help, but we just updated the firmware on the HP directjet print server, and its halved the time it takes to spool. Hope this helps
  11. I'm using a 4K monitor on win 7. Does anyone know if its possible to increase the text display and icon size in vector works, just a bit.Am I just getting old? I know windows 8 has a lot more flexibility on text display, but upgrading to that is not an option. I found this http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1274/Using+High+Resolution+Displays+ Interesting but does not help. Anything in the forthcoming 2016 release? Thanks
  12. whashisface We are having this problem. pdf files <2mb, but they are talking an age to spool on the plotter. Maybe something to do with opacity? or fonts? these usually effect pdfs, but I've not found what it is yet. Did you solve your problem?
  13. Just to feed back on what has been a long running bug for us. To answer my own questions and to add some more tips on getting this plug in to work - yes, you definitely need the NBS tool "annotator" installed - If working on VW 2015 you need the 64 bit version of the plugin (I'm told as of 08/05/2015 this will shortly be uploaded to the VSS portal) - Crucially, we have found that the location of the target NBS spec file is important. It appears to be related not to where it is (in terms of server, network or workstation), but the length of the path name and the file name. When we shorten the name, or located it less deep in our server folder system, it all seems to work. Even roaming profile desktop paths seem to have an effect. Hope this helps any one also stuck
  14. +1 on this. (but there are 8 in the office and they all want this so so +8 really)
  15. by the way, I can confirm the plugin works for 2015, but applies to all classes in the document only (apart from the dimension class)
  16. Hello. This string was back in 2011. Has anything been added to 2015 or previous to enable this? I can't find anything. Thanks
  17. Definitely something to do with the resource browser, and displaying content. I'm using 2 screens. But can't see it being related to this? Any one else experiencing stability issues with old files? (also a 2014 workspace with the new content added and re saved)
  18. Just to say I installed 2015 yesterday evening. Worked on it this morning with a previous 2014 file. Sad to say I'm getting constant crashes, with very little drafting done. It seems to be to do with displaying the resource browser, when ever I unpin the drop down to display content. Its pretty consistently crashing. I tried a few other files, it does not do it in all of them and its fine on a new file; however, it is not limited to only one file, and seems to crash on about half of the files tried so far. I'm guessing that something in the drawing, a symbol/hatch whatever is crashing it when the resource browser tries to display it? When I can get it to display, the resource browser display is all over the place for hatches? (its on thumbnail mode) I can't switch to 2015 or get colleges to switch until this is resolved. Sorry, back to 2014 for now.
  19. Hello, We just finally returned to NBS building solely so we can try out this annotator plugin. I've added the plugin to the work space, I have a nice new menu. I've installed NBS building, and NBS annotator. But having a few problems. I can select a spec (I just made a very quick one with limited content to try out the plugin) I get the following error: The NBS Annotator has either failed to respond or delivered faulty data. Please take note of the actions leading to this problem and report them to support at cadimage.co.uk I've read the guide which comes with the plugin tool. Its kind of ambiguous and sates: "NBS building or NBS Annotator should be installed (and the NBS plugin of course). Not really sure what the role of annotator is. Is this for when you have a spec file, but building is NBS annotator is not installed. There is a export facility in annotator to export to Vectorworks notes manager file? but no mention at all of a need to do this in the guide? Where am I going wrong? Is anyone using this successfully? Should I unistall annotator as I have building on this workstation? Thanks
  20. Hello, Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I understand the logic of what the formulas are doing in this great example, but when I try and do it on another worksheet, it just displays: #VALUE! I don't think its the number format type? I've tried multiple combinations. Basically, all I need to do is get a column in a data base spreadsheet do a calculation and display in another column. This is working in the example above, but not on mine. Is it something simple? I've searched the other topics but can't find anything. Thanks for your help
  21. Yep, the the classes already carry the prefix, and I know you can control the attributes on import, but sometimes it does not happen (people forget) , or you don't know the content sufficiently to know which classes should carry which attributes. Its more a case of when you tidy up a file, or even if the data is referenced in to a file that has had lots of work already done in it, we could do with faster ways of editing the appearance. The survey might carry 100 classes, and its a bit tedious to pick up a line, activate the class, scroll the navigation window, find the class and change its line weight. be much faster if you could just use a tool (like the visibility tool), click an object and its class attributes pop up, then you change them, close and on to the next "base of bank" or what ever the surveyor thinks should be in 0.5mm line weight when it does not need to be. For the later question, I guess OIP = object info pallet? Yep, we use this and this is where the slowness is. He is my example. A viewport exists of a Proposed Ground Floor Plan. it needs some context, so you turn on the imported topographical survey layer (with its 100 classes). some of the geometry and text is needed, but not all of it, so you have to go in, select the geometry to find the class the surveyors automated system put it in, come back out the viewport, go into to OIP classes, scroll down and find the class, turn it off, just to find you did not quite remember the surveyors complicated class naming entirely correctly so the object does not disappear, and you have to do it again. Alternatively, with the visibility tool, in the design space, you just put it on the cross mode, click a line and it turns the class off. If there was a visibility tool for in a viewport, this would do it, Or go in to the design layer, use the visibility tool, then go back and it inherits the visibility. Using the OIP is so slow and tedious. Thanks for taking the time to post though.
  22. Hello, Does any one know if there is a short cut to edit class attributes? If I have a dirty autocad import or file from another consultant, and I want to sort out the class attributes, line weights etc, ideally I want to right click on a line (or any entity), or use a tool and click, and the "class attributes" dialogue to pop up so it can be edited. Currently I'm having to right click the line to and making active, then on the navigation tool, scrolling down to find the current class, then edit the attributes. Be so much quicker if I could do thins in a more direct way. Also If geometry is visible in a view port which we don't want to see, currently we go into the view port, pick the geometry, come out the view, go into the view port classes dialogue, find the class again, turn it off and come out again. It would be great if anyone knows a way to go into the viewport, turn off the erroneous classes with the visibility tool, then "return to view port" BUT the viewport inherits the revised class visibility. Several colleges have asked me if VW can do this, currently I have said I don't think it can? Any tips greatly appreciated Thanks Rob
  23. We are having a similar kind of problem, occasionally. The trouble is its a bit intermittent. It seems to come out when different staff members pick up jobs on another work station. When it occurs it is an absolute headache. Geometry just seem to move about following a new reference being brought in? Here is a recent typical example >Job starts, we get an OS map from pro map or whatever, import, save file (OS import). This is referenced into a new VW sketch file, and someone starts sketching over the OS for very rough initial client discussions etc. >Some time later, topographical survey geometry comes in from the surveyors, this is imported in a new drawing, its saved (survey import). The OS import is then referenced in to this drawing. Its in the right place (geo-mapping?). All seems ok. >Then, the survey import is referenced into sketch file (which already contains the OS import ref.) . But it does not appear where we would expect. The OS import reference is updated or reimported, and it shifts over to where the survey import is, miles away from all the sketch geometry already created. I can't get the Os import to re- reference back where it originally appeared. It definitely was correct before as all the viewports were set up to sheet layers. It has occurred a few times. Once we moved all the geometry, and it then shifted back again. We have not changed the user origin, and the ignore source origin tick box is NOT ticked. We have tried playing with these and it gets worse and very confusing. Its if there is a hierarchy of origins or something. Also, it only seems to happen when we move between workstations. Any one else had this?
  24. Update: the publish command was defaulting to a PCL6 driver. The Postscript driver does work, the PCL6 does not. Still, might be an issue for anyone with out a post script printer?
