  1. Ray, I was preparing to send you the file & then I saw Danielj1's post. I scaled the texture in the OIP & got an acceptable result (see attached). Thanks for all your help. J

  2. Propstuff, the render modes were not the same. In fact it was not a DLVP, rather a Design Layer. The "grass" texture appears as per the image texture in plan view when I was looking to edit it. (See prior screen shot). In the SLVP it looks like the attached screen shot. I am close to finishing this rendering so any help with the grass is greatly appreciated? Detailed settings on "granite" or editing the present lawn? Whichever will get me a decent lawn, I am ok with. TY Jeremy

  3. Orlando, The image looks good I would change the following:

    1) remove window hinge lines( you've made the effort to render shadows, so why show a hinge line in your casements?)

    2) add grass texture (attached)

    3) It would be nice to be able to "read" the corner,left side of the garage & chimney as more than flat yellow & white. (adjust ambient).

    4) roof came out well.

    4) I must get back to Portugal as in America our color selections are rather muted!

  4. Ray thanks, in DLVP it looks great, just like the imported image. But in my SLVP rendering the "grass" looks like a flat green surface. Do I edit color, reflectivity,transparency or bump to get a similar look in the SLVP? & is there a setting you have used. I saw some of the images from a prior post on a grass tennis court that looked nice. (see screen shot) TY Jeremy

  5. Hi All, I have imported a jpeg of a grass texture(thx ray libby) to use in place of the VW grass texture. I am not sure how to do this as the image file does not come up as a texture in the OIP? (see screen shot)TY Jeremy

  6. Hi all, I came across another workable solution.

    1) Render the image as hidden line only

    2) Print to PDF

    3) Import the PDF into a new file & ungroup/edit the pdf (lines)

    4) Group and copy back into the original file

    5) Lay line work on top of SLVP rendering in "Final Quality Renderworks.

    Maybe many of you do this already, but it works in a pinch if your model is a little wonky. See attached screen shot. TY Jeremy

  7. Peter, A belly board could work in this application. I will try the offset as well. I was hoping there was a solution that simply extracted the hidden lines, that I could then "explode" (to use an old ACAD term) and then edit and lay over the top of the rendering.TY J

    Orlando, your English is 100x better than my Portuguese. I may offset the floor as you recommend. Obrigado J

  8. Hi all, I am looking to use "Hidden Lines" as foreground rendering over "Final Quality Renderworks" (see attached screen shot). As my model is not perfectly constructed or in some cases the floor slab is reading thru, is there a way to simply remove the offending lines? TY Jeremy

  9. Peter, the gable end wall is one continuous wall on the second floor DL. I am constraining at the bottom of wall, so that the wall extends down to meet the porch roof. The window is a "window in wall" on the first floor DL. See screen shot. TY Jeremy

  10. Hi all, I have been using the "Fit Wall to Roof" command with some success but encounter the following problem: When I "Fit wall" and constrain at 1st floor geometry" the wall blows right thru the 1st floor windows? Any thoughts on how to avoid this? TY Jeremy

  11. Horst, It is not a "Floor Slab" rather a "Solid Subtraction". I just ran a test & it seems I can apply a texture to the entire solid subtraction but not the individual "Parts". It seems for what I am doing that I am better off extending the First Floor walls up the depth of the Second Floor Slab & drawing the slab on the inside face of the exterior walls. TY Jeremy

  12. Hi All,

    I am drawing gable end walls and extruding them then adding a siding texture. In the attached screen shot there are (2) gable end walls shown each an "extrude" with "part" overall texture applied. In (1) instance the entire extrude receives the texture in the other only the edges? Not sure why?

    Additionally, the floor slab was drawn as an extrude that become a solid subtraction when I cut a portion out of it. The applied texture for the solid subtraction disappeared? Any help adding a texture to an individual face of an extrude or solid subtraction is appreciated. TY Jeremy

  13. Pat, Using the blue handle on the window tag I was able to move it, albeit w/ some difficulty as it is inclined to move the window.? As for the door, no luck using the blue handle to move the tag. I looked in preferences & selected "no fill behind text" and added a new door tag, which still came in w/ fill? But as you said this may need to have been selected at the outset. TY, Jeremy

  14. Hi All, I have always just draw my window & door tags & manually created their schedules. I am looking to use the VW Create Schedules option but am having difficulty moving the window & door tags for graphic reasons. Where is the option to move the tags? not have a solid fill in a door tag? etc.. Thanks, Jeremy

  15. Peter, I followed your steps above & just the jambs appeared as expected. I changed the jamb style which was "none" to have a line thickness of 0.35mm to match the line thickness of the walls & nothing happened. It seems it is not possible.

    For this project I ended up manually adding the jambs in a SLVP & got the look I was hoping for, however it would be nice to set a preference for the jamb line thickness at the outset?

  16. Hi All,

    How do I get my door jambs to show as visible when my doors are turned off? I have experimented with use part line styles, set the jamb to class "none", kept "none" on in my viewport and still the jamb is not visible?? See attached. I would rather not draw over in 2D in the viewport but will if there is not another way.
