Layers & grids for a multi-level home

I am a High School Teacher, and a new user to Vectorworks and am working through the Essential tutorial manual. We are using Vectorworks in our Engineering classes and I need help to quickly learn the basics of how to create drawings for a multi-level single family dwelling. Any suggestions as for a tutorial?
