  1. I'm using project sharing and in my title block using Project Data.File Name . The file name being used is my working file and not the "mother file". Is this the way it should be? If it is OK then it means that which ever user publishes the sheet layers, it will use that file name. I guess the only workaround is to use a custom record and manually enter the name of the project file. Cheers
  2. Either Open StreetMap or Google Maps / Google Earth. Having to go into sketch up and then import into VW seems a bit too much... I think it should be in Fundamentals, everybody may need to used it at some point...
  3. I would prefer the second option, the same way the align and distribute works. Thats my current workaround, but it always means tweaking around and having to make additional math to get ir right...
  4. It would be great to be able to align and distribute items (specially lighting instruments) along a curve line, or maybe tweak the align and distribute items tool from the spotlight toolbar to be able to do curved lines o other polygons aswell.
  5. Thanks for your answers guys, so eGPU aren't as good as paper says... Going back to the original question, if using the same hardware (lets say Mac Pro 5,1 with GTX 1080 Ti) in which OS is Vision going to work better?
  6. I don't completely agree, you can use any of the most recent cards, Nvidia 10x series and AMD Vega on either a Mac Pro5,1 or New MacBook Pro or iMac with eGPU...That is why I am asking, since I can get any card to work on both OS, is there any specific tests anybody has donde to understand which runs better? It would be great for users to be able to see the FPS somewhere and be able to run some test....
  7. Has anyone tried identical systems running vision on both OS preferably with newer GPU cards? Anyone seen any differences? Also, is there any way to know how many FPS one is getting out of the system?
  8. Looking into buying a video card to use as a eGPU with a new MacBook Pro to run VW and Vision. For what I read in other posts there shouldn't be any difference, but has anyone done some actual tests with a Mac? AMD has always been the chipset choice of Apple, should this mean it should work better? I've found online quite a few comparisons on windows and some on Mac, all show the GTX 1080 Ti is 20% better/faster than the Vega 64... @JimW do either VW or Vision benefit from CUDA or Metal? Or is it all OpenGL and OpenCL? Have you done any test on either cards running on Mac?
  9. I've been trying some things out, LOVE this feature. Something I am not able to edit a symbol in 2d in one pane and 3D in another one, is this bug or feature? Also, is there any way to make the pane disposition saved in the user prefs? So when activated the default is to each users preference?
  10. What about those of us who can't go to the designer summit? Can we get any insights? :-)
  11. Must say, WELL DONE! - Wonderfull to have the same shortcuts as VW. - Nice to have controls that actually affect the scene - House Lights ON and OFF is epic. Keep it up guys!
  12. Is there any workaround to convert a mesh in a RGB LED like there was in Vision 2? If not please include this into the wis list. Cheers
  13. Completely OFF Topic, but how do I find out SP4 is out? - Updater says I am up to date (guess it still doesn't work) - No post in the forum that SP4 is out. - No answer to my question in the SP3 Forum Topic. - Not in Service Select downloads. - Wy is it only listed in a Video Capture Topic in te Forum? Just curious...
  14. It would be really nice to be able to export or link cameras in VW with the ones in vision, being able to get the same render in both softwares... This would really improve workflow for me.
  15. To my understanding you cant swap fixture types in vision. For al the other changes you want to do, yes that is the way to do it. My workflow consists in having diferente .esc files for the different things you export. For example, I have one file for the venue, another for the stage, another for each piece of set and one for fixtures and trusses. If I decide to export more fixtures, either I re-export the trusses and then delete them in vision or create some other 3D poly and then delete it. Cheers
  16. I have to say I support Brendan on this one, same thing happening to me in the past months.
  17. I think you are having the same issue I had, check this post, it fixed it for me...
  18. I had the same issue as well, refresh instruments and they re-appear until something decides for them to disappear again and you have to refresh them again...
  19. Does anyone know of any tutorial for the render engine in vision 4 or vision 2017? It would be nice to finally have some reference on it. Cheers
  20. Does anybody know for a fact in which render modes 3D labels are displayed? I'm looking for something that not shaded polygon but that looks alike... I've tried some pencil renderworks and it will not work
  21. Just posted something related: These completely changes workflow, I've also submited bug report for this new "design feature"
  22. So I did my first export to Vision from VW 2017 and found some differences in the workflow: - My userconfig.xml got overwritten. Does this mean that when you install 2017 you HAVE to change the ESP mapping in the vectorworks spotlight preferences? or was this just my issue? - Rotating completely changed! I had realized that 3D rotation un VW had changed, personally it's strange but will have to get used to it, but know the default for vision is a "hanged" fixture, not a "floor" fixture. Is this right? Mayor issue when you have your personalized libraries set to work with the old Vision Workflow! - When assigning fixture mode in VW It does not always display it in the Object Info Pallete (see attached) nor does it have any info int the Edit Vision Data menu, but when exported to Vision it is exported properly... Besides these differences, are there any other? I've looked for release notes or some other document that lists these differences but haven't found one, is there such? Has anyone else done any exporting to vision? Cheers
