Yes. Vision 2021 has moved to OpenGL 4.1 and we weren't able to get the text overlays working properly. We also found some bugs in the reporting, which I believe have been mostly corrected (but since the reporting is no longer public, this information is internal only).
We had a very rough POC for putting FPS into the status bar (near the NDI status bar indicator). This is much simpler to achieve than a text overlay in the viewport, but does come with the downside that it is a single FPS counter for the entire program (and not an FPS counter per viewport). There are obvious ways we could remedy this (the most obvious being adding an FPS counter into the statusbar for each visible viewport, with some identifier as to which counter refers to which viewport).
It would definitely be interesting to hear from users here on the forums if they preferred the text overlay on the viewport, or if a status bar counter would be sufficient.
Alternatively, and the current suggestion/workaround, use a third party application for detecting FPS of Vision.

I'm having a similar issue to this. I figured out the initial mm problem, but my hang positions (except my ladders) are still stuck at the origin.
I had this happen once (I think it was in January), with ladders actually, was in the middle of a tight deadline and didn't report it...

I guess this is a NO go?

Just watched the keynotes. It is mentioned that VW will use metal for the Mac version in 2021, what about Vision?would be nice....

I'm not 100% sure since I. haven't used a Hog in ages, but I believe you can only use sACN or ArtNET if you are using Vision on a Mac. A HogNET driver is available for windows I believe.

Thanks @markdd!

So I finally get some time to fiddle around with this but I found myself not being able to get the "Lighting Device" record to show up when filtering.
When I apply my criteria I can see it:
But when I want to select the universe field to "color it up" I'm not seeing it, am I missing something?
I've done the same workflow for truss and motors and that was no problem...

Why not changing the color of your symbols?
If you want to keep de grey/black for renderings you only change your pen color so in wireframe it renders with color, if not you change both.
-
Thansks @axhake hadn't seen that.
Since there is a Purge command, shouldn't the color purge be there aswell?
-
So I've been trying to get rid of the Colors that appear in the Fill and Pen List under Active document, is there any way of achieving this? Can't see the item under the Purge command...
I tried deleting everything from the file, run the Purge command twice but nothing gets rid of the Colors from the list.

It looks like your like your data visualisation is set in symbols, maybe changing the fill of your symbols would work for you...
Nevertheless applying data visaulization to worksheets or report would be nice.

Problem solved, issue with the file and VW, after a reboot and using a new file this was fixed, old file still doesn't show images in worksheets...
Thanks @Pat Stanford

Haven't tried this for a couple of years and note being able to make it work. Trying to make a basic list of symbols.
My first column is =('Lighting Device'.'Inst Type')
Second column =IMAGE
Third column =COUNT
I get absolutely nothing, no image, no count in the database header. Cell Format is set to Thumbnail-Top Plan View.
I've tried:
- different scales
- Different view and render types in the cell format
- Inserting Cireteria into de IMAGE column (Only difference here is I get a count in the database header and a TRUE or FALSE value but no image.
- Generate a report
- Create a new worksheet from scractch
- New file and worksheet
Any ideas? Bug?

I would add the ability to edit the father class hierarchy in the navigation pallet.

No. It's probably better to use sACN is you have the command wing.
If you are using a MA and Windows for Vision use the MA driver, you will have no parameter limit since it uses MA Net as grandMA 3D does.

I haven't used any HDMI - NDI converter, there is no need, just plain NDI from one computer to the other and works great. To generate the NDI stream I used Newteck NDI Scan Converter.

Any news on this? Or any workaround to get them to disappear?

@orso b. schmid I haven't had any time to play around with 2020 until know. I did convert all the files and made a new folder, I'm trying to figure it out but haven't had any success.
Here is how I see thing in 2019 (and how I've seen for the past years) in the resource manager:
When trying to use a plug in as the title block (I can see me workgroup folder and navigate to title block for instance) I see this:
But in 2020 I don't get the second workgroup folder even though it is configured the same as before.

Any ideas?

I'm glad to help and get things the way I want! Just too many abbreviations, what is a TO and VE and where should I generate any of them? Are they served with or without ice? 🤔

I've used DMX transform for quite some time, only to move thing up and down, besides dealing with inches to figure out heights works great.. Today I wanted to rake a truss con "variable speed hoist" and found out the now (I believe this was not the case of old and beloved Vision 2.3) everything rotates around the local origin, this is also stated in the manual. Is there any workaround to get thing to rotate on the object axis? If not, I cannot figure out one good reason to rotate anything around the local origin in the entertainment world... Please someone explain what the benefit would be....
EDIT: I did find a workaround, if you place the whole object you want to move centered to the local origin in VW, it will rotate on its center. The only problem with that is that you have to move everything again in Vision in inches.... I really do hope I'm missing something here...

Vectorworks is using the MVR data format and this can not be changed. You will need to have the following a Channel number (the number you use to select the device in the console), a Universe, and a DMX Address. there are new fields in the Lighting Device for 2020 that will give you some display options you can find more in the Vectorworks help
I can see the DMX address field in the OIP but not in the spotlight numbering ergo I cannot patch with that tool.
It's good both apps are following a standard, it would just be nice to have this stated somewhere in the manual (at least I did not see it) since it will change workflows for people.
-
Beforehand I think this is great and something we've asked for some time, so Thanks!
On the other hand, I haven't found any information that specially shows how it works so here are some questions:
- I am guessing that the "Channel" field has to be the Unit number, can this be changed?
- I've tried to use the numbering tool to get the DMX address populated but haven't found it, is the patch window the only way to get it done? If so, this is something to reconsider...
- I've seen the Vision data mapping has vanished and for what I've tried it uses the same fields as the patch window, is this correct? Is this editable?
-
This has been a great guide for the past years, thanks @orso b. schmid
For some reason tin 2020 I can't see anything in the WG library folder within VW, any ideas what has changed?
