  1. Yes I agree with you B.Balemi re the accents. Worse still would be learning to have an aussie accent to use the Ozcad version, shudder shudder shudder. As to the elctrodes idea, all be it a bit silly (glasses for eye movements sounds a bit better), but I shudder to think where it gets plugged into the body - lol, could be most unpleasant. In all seriousness, I was hoping for maybe the ten most common things that you click a mouse for. Ross
  2. I'm not talking about the Strarship Enterprise here, but it could save a lot of mouse/tablet hand movements if a lot of the intial "click and click" commands were voice actuated, lessening potential Repetative Strain Injuries. (Providing the thing doesn't talk back) Just a thought.
  3. I agree with B.Balemi that NNA should look at Ozcad version as it has sooooo many improvements on it compared to the plain American version. I also agree that here in New Zealand, Megabits have worked hard to incorporate the Ozcad version such that the VW available here is second to none on the market, hence the high level of sales here. Perhaps those in the UK should be purchasing the Ozcad version.
  4. Hi, Does anyone have a symbol - plan view of a concrete mixer truck. Would appreciate it if someone does. Many thanks Ross
  5. Just a general thanks and pat on the back to Katie and the guys for all their input last year. It is much appreciated. We down under are running the Ozcad version complete with Windor. (Simple add-on) Gone are the days of window and door problems with now being able to create all sorts of much truer type window configerations. It also have a vast aray of image props and symbols galore. It is certainly worth looking at to make VW much easier to use with much better results.

Hi Stephanie Try some of the 'Silver' textures. I think they look better than the aluminium ones
  7. Just curious as to when the next major upgrades are due. 10.5? - 11.0? I would like to know roughly when I have to spend more money and plan for that. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
  8. Oh...didn,t know that. I'll give it a try, thanks for the tip.
  9. Hmmmm.... I wish that when I select several objects, namely text, that when you go to rotate them - that each one rotates about its own centr, as aopposed to all of them rotating as a group. This is ideal when you have to rotate a drawing after a client askes to have it the other way round. Its just time consuming running around and rotating each individual text box.
  10. Hi, I normally have no problems with VW, but I updated to 10.1.2 for my VWA over the weekend. Today I was laying out a new building and went to use the Wall Type Tool, having selected what wall type I wanted from the Select Wall Type, and when I used it, it was 'stuck' on what wall type that was intially showing. I have rebooted, restarted, tried various wall selections as well as using both the Straight and Round Wall Type Tools. All regardless of whatever Layers and Classes are selected. I am a PC user P4 1.5Ghz 512 Mb Ram etc etc. Has this cropped up recently? All my Workspaces and Templates are intact after the 10.1.2 update. I have checked all the files in Windows Explorer under VWA - namely 'Plug Ins' folder - 'VW Arch' folder - 'Prefs_Def' - and the File "Wall Type Library.txt" and it is the same as earlier backups. If nothing is obvious, I think I will have to reinstall 10.0 and the 10.1 update (more downtime) but not the 10.1.2 update which may screw me when further updates come out. Would appreciate your input and comments Ross [ 05-26-2003, 06:20 PM: Message edited by: Kiwi Ross ]
  11. Just wondering if sometime in the future that the wall tool could include a Veneer tool that gave the height of the framed timber wall, then a cavity, then the actual veneer. The veneer would have two height (z) controls for itself (different to the main framed wall height). The bottom is usually set down from the bottom plate of the wall, and the top is set to the soffit height. This would be of great help for 3D sections. Also curious if others would like this option.
  12. Hi Katie and Dave Katie - Yes, I am running 10.0.1, and have the problem. Looking forward to 10.1, assume not far away now. Dave - What a cheeky little fix. Even chuckled when it worked. Works a treat, many thanks.
  13. Hi I am running VWA10 and have of late been getting this error message in several drawings. I know it is probly something simple, but I just can not seem to import Textures. Importing images is fine. On the odd occasion I get past it it simply comes up with similar message re Transparancy or Bump etc. "The Record Format for Plug-in Objects named "NNAPhong" cannot replace the existing Record Format with that name and these cannot be renamed. The entire operation is canceled." I recently redid my main template for drawings and somehow got this screwed up somehow. Simple problem, but do not understand the problem created. Would appreciate your help please.
  14. Hi Katie Yep you right, I had set up my workspace and didn't pick it up. When I went back looking for it, kept looking in the Menu column - must have been one of those blonde moments. So thanks for pointing it out.
  15. Hi, Just wondering if I have missed it, but is there a Number Stamp Tool in VA10 as there is in VA9.5. Handy little tool to run round a plan and click click etc --W1, W2, W3, W4 etc. Or is there another way to simply put in basic labels with a numeric value increasing each time you click. 16. With the bolts / screws funtion, it would be good if these could have an option for being in 3D (in the detailed mode). I use VWA, and in the course of residential / industrial construction, this added ability would certainly be most welcome.
  17. Thanks Matthew, me too, like others, I didn't know they were there either - what a time saver. quote: Originally posted by Matthew Giampapa: The 3D primative objects for VW 10 are stored in your Resources\Samples\3D Primative Objects folder. Move these .vso objects into your plugins folder and then add the Box, Elipsoid, Cone, Cylinder, Parabaloid, Pyramid, Sphere, and Torus objets to your pallet with the Workspace editor.
  18. Perhaps its just Autumn
  19. Small straight forward housing can be done quickly. This will still produce 20 - 25 drawings, with a lot of pasted standard details. As Cipes points out, more involvement takes more time, and as he said "it takes as long as it takes" is so true. Average residential jobs would be up around 40 - 60 hours.
  20. To RogerWant to fly me over?
  21. To CipesDesign. Simple 3 / 4 bed room single storey houses can be done including all specifications, can be done in 10 to 15 hours. This would comprise of 10 to 15 sheets of drawings and details suitable for Local Authority Permits. Also some 3D fully rendered views could be done as well. VW / VWA does really allow one to produce at this rate. Ross from down under
  22. When the need arises, I just simply place a rectangle or polygon over what you don't want to see and make it white with a white outline. Crude but effective.
  23. Is there anyway to save new structural shape sizes in VW9.5.1Here in New Zealand we have different sizes to what is in shipped version of VW. It was easy to have changed in VW8.5Gets tiresome going to custom size all the time.Have tried altering the .txt file to no avail. Any help would be appreciated
  24. Thanks to all for their replies. Most interesting they are to. For me, I am a PC user using P4 1.5Ghz with 512kb RD RAM - 64MB G3 Pro card. Win 2000. I rarely have problems, note than animations can be slow to do. As they say, the grass is always greener on the other side. So have wondered how the PC stacks up to the Mac. Being self employed, finance for computer hardware / software is always tight. So it is interesting to hear everyones opinion. I think regardless of system, we all seem to get the best we can get out of what we have got with not a great deal of difference between them. As Katie and others point out, there are areas in each that are a tad better then each other. And just a quick note to Nemetschek, VW is getting better and better.
  25. I see a few have been reporting scrunched up (letters all on top of each other) words on their printed drawings.Seems to hit both Nac and PC users using a wide range of printers. Is their any possible fix for this in the near future? Ross from down under
