  1. I see? Things are moving fast? Only a few hours ago
  2. Ohh, I've had countless discussions with Ultirender re IFC and NNA's actions in relation to it. I've also reported various bugs in the beta-testing of VW 2010, but with no feedback of any kind. For my efforts I have received absolutely nothing ? not even a free licence. Being a consultant, I have always been available to help you, but I don't work for free. So far I have only been asked to provide free help, especially by Mr. Anderson, who even wanted one of my users to tell him what my Space tool does. Breaking the vicious circle starts by a commission?
  3. Exactly, Vincent! In short, every sheet layer and every design layer must be exported as a separate AutoCAD file.
  4. Indeed? Quousque tandem abutere, NNA, patientia nostra? Mr. Anderson proclaimed in late 2006 (over 3 years ago) that one can generate perfectly good IFC data with VW there and then and that one can also write IFC-compatible VectorScript add-ons if one just knows the nitty-gritty. Both statements were totally untrue.
  5. Jeffrey, Thanks for the clear reply. I gather that NNA has not asked the local distributor to help in this. I'm sure they would have told me? You will need to talk with Ultirender. However, a Finnish project cannot be modeled with the tools provided by NNA, so someone would have to remodel a project with them as a mock-up. You will appreciate that no VW user here uses IFC, because VW is not certified. Instead, they use Revit or ArchiCAD in jobs where IFC is required.
  6. iMac 27 i7 It allows you to torture yourself with the Redmondian Inquisition, too, should you ask for it.
  7. So, the 2010 prize for the most Illogical, Inconsistent and Confusing User Interface goes, for the umpteenth years in an unbroken row, to Nemetschek North America! Well done, NNA!
  8. This is what they tell: Vectorworks Architect Software Now Compliant with GSA BIM Guide Series 02 But what does this mean? Compliance with the GSA BIM Guide for Spatial Program Validation Nothing, I'd say. Without full IAI IFC-certification (& without alchemy), VW is at best a wannabe and the corporate propaganda by Robert Anderson and his little helpers is laughable. Whatever some GSA does, is of no relevance in the real world. Especially in NNA's Real World, in which the U.S. users are a tiny minority and seem to be only be doing McMansions. http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=134865#Post134865
  9. R i g h t. Should I ever progress to VW 2010 in my produxion (sorry, could not resist!) work, I may start to apply Warhol's Marilyns & Campbell's Cans to walls. Anyway, thou bringest good tidings!
  10. We hatess Highlighting Animationss?
  11. Decal? No. What's a decal, except over-priced decoration of automobiles for hair-dressers? (A decal (pronounced /ˈdiːk?l, ˈdiːkəl, ˈdɛːkl/) or transfer (chiefly British usage) is a plastic, cloth paper or ceramic substrate that has printed on it a pattern that can be moved to another surface upon contact, usually with the aid of heat or water. The word is short for "decalcomania." The word Decalcomania is derived from the French word "decalquer," and was coined by Simon Fran?ois Ravenet about 1750. The "mania" was added during the Decal craze of the late 1800s.)
  12. I have no idea? Is eg. ? available in any current non-Unicode -typefaces, if any? Support for Unicode was announced with drum-roll, ticker-tape and much ado about nothing in VW 12.5.
  13. Strata, Artlantis etc. are in another category of beasts as comes to assigning an image to a 3D-face. I don't believe you can do (or expect to be able to do) the same in VW.
  14. Ahh - MI is a province of the United States of America, the Land of the Arrogant and the Home of the Ignorant! Are we, the 70% of VW-users, supposed to know?
  15. Tested the same in VW 2009: Peter's findings confirmed, no problems detected. EDIT Out of curiosity: MI does not appear to be a Country Code. It would be interesting to know what part of the Universe people are from! There are just so many from Countries Unknown!
  16. You are asking a lot? The cylinder is not necessarily an upright citizen of the 3D-world. You might not want plan dimensions ? which, should the cylinder be rotated in 3D be dimensions of an ellipse ? but the dimensions of the circle that formed the ellipse. Maybe an inference mechanism is possible, but should you decide to put your cylinder in rake, what would you expect the dimensions to do? Don't get me wrong: if you are able to articulate how (arbitrary) 3D-objects should be dimensionable, I believe NNA is all ears! Meanwhile, you can enter the extrusion and copy the circle, then paste it in place (hmm...) and dimension it.
  17. I find it very difficult to understand (i) how gradients & image fills could be applied to arbitrary 3D-objects: where'd they start from, where'd they go, how'd they behave in between; (ii) why is is not possible to apply an image as such on a 3D-object, at the user's risk & discretion and to his or her frustration. With the time & effort spent in the development of (mostly, but not entirely, useless) image props, surely image mapping/draping could have been implemented? EDIT I decided to try with a gradient as a texture. No-go zone. Hopeless.
  18. So, Nemetschek has only 270000 users and a revenue of 150 million euros; that is 550 ? per user. (I'm saying "only" because at one stage VW alone was supposed to have more. Lo and behold, the VW page tells us that More than 450,000 designers in more than 85 countries rely on Vectorworks technology. So, based on averages, VW generates some 167 % of the total group revenue. Now, since AllPlan costs 10 times as much as VW, the average is not applicable, but you get the point.) However, Autodesk reports having 9 million users and an annual revenue of roughly 1500 million ?, ie. 170 ? per user. Whoo-ee! Autodesk's revenue has dropped by a third in a year; Nemetschek's by 11%. Not that I'd understand anything about quartal capitalism.
  19. Should VW actually & really support Unicode (I see no signs of ANY support!), this would be easy, as there are typefaces & character sets for this. (Of the said lack of support: a month or so ago I was hoping to use the name of a famous Czech automobile manufacturer (of world history significance for its earlier product lines) in a mock-up of a sky-sign. Instead of getting ?koda, I got ?koda.) EDIT The posted issue would go away should you Americans follow the lead of 95% of the world's population and go metric. The U.S. of A. is the only Medieval country left!
  20. Line Render Options, as I recall, also needed to be adjusted. Or was it alternatively? High conversion resolution slows down pretty much everything.
  21. I know what thatched roofs are, but obviously hatched roofs are something different. (Never seen a roof egg? Designed guite a few buildings in the past 30 years without hatched roofs.)
