  1. Since it does not seem we will ever get folders for design layers or sheet layers (Side notes - can we please just rename these Layers and Sheets?) - can we at least simply get a horizontal line divider - similar to what we have in the drop down menus to help organize? We make layers and name them "------" but having this formalized would help my OCD and help keep files organized. Our workaround.
  2. So the new color picker is interesting and I like the idea of enlarging the color box to see more clearly what you are selecting, but the way it is implemented makes it hard to select as the enlargement covers the selection box: Its a little easy to lose track of where your mouse is. A better implementation would be a static preview box that live updates with the hover.
  3. I have found it is almost always memory consumption - but always due to Vectoroworks. We have isolated it to when interior elevations, elevations, or sections viewports get updated, the machine requires a tremendous amount of memory -and it does not give it back. So you can preform the operation once - and it goes ok - but then everything slows down after that requiring restart. Quitting chrome will not be enough to save you.... That seemed to be one of the new and touted "features" of 2023 - not completely seizing up after rendering hidden line section viewports. I have not tested yet.
  4. With the new subscription model - they might be moving away from yearly releases. Maybe it will be pushed out as part of 2023 SP.2.
  5. Also - it is absolutely insane that this has not been implemented. I requested this 8 - EIGHT - years ago! Its been requested many a time since. I would love a technical explanation on why this has been so difficult to implement. We have styles for the Chair and Table tool for goodness sake... @JuanP Is there any reason technical or political on why that this seemingly simple feature request has been sidelined for the better part of a decade? It will be one of those features that we maybe finally will get - but nobody will be excited because it will be soooooo long coming. Better late than never is still late.
  6. There is no sense of when the last time there has been an update. We need a change log on the site. I am very much hoping that it is woefully out of date.
  7. I hadn't - these problems do seem more pronounced - but we have been wrestling with similar things for so long - it actually did not occur to me that these issues were isolated to 2022... but maybe worth a try.
  8. @Jeremy Best Chrome is a hog for sure. But just so you know - that is not 50 tabs - as chrome now treats all processes as sperate tasks - so some of those are plugins ect - but yes - running at about double what the normal is, but as @line-weight says - it does not matter - VW just gobbles whatever is available and never seems to give it back. There are certain 2 file combinations that we simply can not open together as the system instantly runs out of memory. These are not big projects or big files. I was so taken by the expected performance upgrades that we bought new computers for the office - but things are getting appreciably worse. I sometimes need to restart VW 6 times in a day - and that only after suffering 1 to 2 seconds response time for a good chunk of time. Whatever is going on - it does not feel like my 3080 is being used as it should. I have 32GB of RAM and another 8GBs on the GPU itself - it feels like that should be more than sufficient to do our little 2D interior elevations of our single family homes....
  9. I have this problem too. I am not a technical guy - but there seems to be a memory leak. I exported a set - things were tolerable, but I saw an error - fixed it and now have been waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes to export the set. Its not using any GPU - a moderate amount of CPU - but just gobbling memory. I even spent the last 2 weeks redrawing all the interior elevations from live BIM interiors to old school dead ones because it was too painful to maintain the BIM ones. No performance improvements. Its starting to get unusable.
  10. Actually - it is worse - using the the ROTATION field does NOT change what it considers to be be TAG NORTH. So TAG NORTH will always be page UP.
  11. The link to viewport is a fantastic option for the interior elevation tags - all tags for that matter. The issue I am having is that we have a project where north is not page north. The interior elevation tags assume page north is actual north. You CAN rotate the tag so that TAG North matches project north - BUT the numbers then are rotated incorrectly.
  12. No. I have actually noticed an increase in crashes.
  13. There are a bunch of small things that drive inconsistency and frustration that could be cleared up with a simple style guide. The one that is bothering me today is the Edit Surface Hatch dialog. A drop down menu is not the solution when there is only 2 options - On / Off (None / Hatch in this case. It is annoying way to handle that interaction. This pales in comparison to what happens next as a hatch that I have not selected is automatically chosen for me - then an error message appears telling me the hatch (that I did not choose is in Page Units.) This could so be cleaned up by skipping the first box all together and just having the hatch selector - defaulted to NONE - then when I click on it - allow me to select the hatch I want - all in a single step.
  14. This is still driving me nuts. I can not modify any of my worksheets. I am the only one experiencing this? Tried on multiple computers.
  15. When modifying worksheets - I run into an issue when trying to modify criteria - where the box becomes non-responsive and I am unable to modify the critera. Very frustrating. After wasting an hour trying to fix - I ended up building the spreadsheet with lines and text.
  16. So - its definitely a memory issue. I have isolated it to the fact that after I publish the set - the memory is shot - consumed to 96% and will not recover. I have 32 GB - but I need to quit VW / restart the machine to get any useability back. This is extra frustrating because if I need to make a small change to the export - I have to republish which will Cookie Monster my memory like a sheet of warm fresh baked Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies. I am not tech savvy enough to understand why this would be - but I have noticed that the more BIM hidden line renderings I have the worst it is.
  17. Even changing panels in the Navigation panel - not even switching layers - just switching between Sheet Layers and Design Layers in the Navigation pane - can seize VW up for minutes. What is going on??
  18. Vectorworks seems to be running slower and slower. It will just stop and think about nothing for MINUTES. A change in sheet layer will be met with 3 to 5 minutes sitting there. No operation done - just a change in view. The view is visible - but it will go into Not Responding for MINUTES. What is going on?? What is it thinking about?? Its just a sheet with 2 elevations. It is so frustrating.
  19. We really need an option to hide / show wall components in viewports. The LOD setting is too broad - we want to show high level of detail for everything else except wall assemblies. We know that if you turn off all the component classes you can achieve this - but it is fragile and leads to issues as assemblies may be changed and component classes added. A check box in advanced settings allowing us to turn off wall assemblies as an extra option would be extremely useful.
  20. We are using room tags that are linked to spaces. This is OK - except that we do not want to see the spaces in our plans - we just use them for their data - and then use a data tag for the plans. Problem being - in order to tag the spaces they need to be visible. So we need to turn on our NONPLOT class to tag - then turn it off after we are done tagging. Clunky. I was thinking that the data tag tool should come with an option to detect invisible or non displayed objects.
  21. We just have our stamp and signature embedded into the title block but on a special class that we can turn on when we are issuing a stamped set. I sometimes lament the loss of that rite of passage as an intern to spend your entire afternoon stamping and forging signatures - but adapt or die.
